Summer is really in full swing, and the July 4th holiday weekend is in sight! Today is my last day of work until next Tuesday. Carl however goes back to work for two more days. We have no plans for the long weekend, but the town we live in is having a street fair and since we've never gone, we may have to go this year. We'll see.
The dogs are still getting used to having a puppy around the house. Being Goldens they are pretty adaptable and don't seem to really mind the change in the routine and energy. However Charlie remains in a real snit!! I guess Todd knows that they are both terriers because despite what Charlie may be telling him, he remains undaunted and wants to make friends with his cousin, but Charlie will have nothing of it! I am pretty sure he'll get over it, but he has to make a show of it first. The cat and Todd have had a couple of encounters--Todd who is a little smaller than the cat is giving her the respect she commands, so she has given her tentative approval and warning that he needs to stay away from her--I think they'll be just fine! I hope your Wednesday is 'just fine' too!! I'll look forward to catching up on your blogs later today!

Charlie is simply jealous and the cat, well, they do DEMAND their respect! The little one is a cutie!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteWhat a typical cat.
ReplyDeleteHope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, too, Kim. :)
This is our Canada Day weekend here! Have a grand time. That little poochie needs some sunggles for sure!
ReplyDeleteSo far my Wednesday is good, hope yours stays that way! =)
ReplyDeleteoh, enjoy your long break! you have lots to enjoy there with a new pup to entertain you!
ReplyDeletethat photo is so sweet!
When we brought Rowdy home at 7 weeks, Handsome, our adult rottweiler, was the same way.... but after a couple of weeks they were best buddies and Handsome became a wonderful mentor to Rowdy. I love how dogs get along. :-)

We celebrate July 1 here for Canada day. Looking forward to the parade and the fair. It's going to be a nice hot weekend too ~ the weatherperson has promised!!!

What a cutie! Todd must be exhausting his puppy energy just by all the furrie adventures and encounters right there at home!
ReplyDeleteHappy days-off to you! Enjoy :)
Sweet hugs,
Sierra Rose
I love the goldens, their faces are so expressive.Your puppy is loving his new home,I can tell, have a wonderful weekend, phyllis
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of Todd and Sam, so cute. Just amazed by the size of Todd's ears, will be fun to see him grow into them.
ReplyDeleteHeidi, Tucker and Daisy
Our little burgs are having "doings" too, best place for us to stay away from! Too much walking, because no place to park etc. We have done the "do" many times over the years and it was always enjoyable, if tiring.
ReplyDeleteCute pictures!!!!
I can only say this...I just love each and every one of your critters. They just melt my heart!
ReplyDeleteOh Wowwee - he's arrived while we were away, we're so excited for you. Todd looks a great little guy, just our type, bet he'd love a good game of bitey face with us. Our Mum is so pleased that you have some joy in the house with the little pupster after a sad couple of weeks, he's a corker! Dex & Lou x
ReplyDeleteGood for Todd for understanding cat language! One of my mom's German Shepherds had to get a swat on the nose before he understood that my cat did not want to play with him!
ReplyDeleteHappy, long weekend to all at Golden Pines!!!

Oh Kim! I'm SO far behind on reading your blog. You've been through so much and Hamlet's passing feels so 'personal' to me as well. I can't believe how strong you are, to go right from the loss of Dear Hamlet, to Rudi's illness and it's prognosis, to the addition of that adorable little Monster, "Todd"! How on Earth did you decide on the name 'Todd'? I've never seen a light colored Scottie. Very pretty and of course, the perfect compliment to all of your Goldens.
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to write to you in response to the wonderful email you sent to me. I'm embroiled in the middle of packing, cleaning, painting, cleaning, mowing, cleaning, etc. in preparation of selling my home. I don't think I've ever been so exhausted! The end is in site though. I'm actually looking forward to finding a place, in town, and getting it all set up. Of course, that's my way of avoiding thinking about the final tasks here...
I hope your weekend is wonderful and no animal (or human!) health crisis mar the time off and opportunity to relax and enjoy all that you are surrounded by. You most certainly deserve a nice break!
Kim, I love seeing Todd and how he's making friends with your extended family. I have Arlo, formerly called Guthrie, who is about 2 lbs smaller than Todd but is growing very fast. Arlo is very frustrated by my cat and doesn't understand why she won't play with him. He constantly barks at her. These pups are the most beautiful and loving pups, I'm sure that you will agree. Lots of luck with your family.

The picture of Todd and Sam is the sweetest thing. There is so much for the young boy to learn from his new friends - even the cat.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great time!
xxxxx
look at that those faces. and i also loved that first post of pictures when todd and sam, i remember, were lying nose to nose together in the grass. todd was laughing. now he's doing some serious communicating. if even for mere puppy seconds!
ReplyDeletehe is full of life and joy and i know all your precious old goldens are enjoying his special gift of life as much as you humans are.
poor little charlie. it's so hard being the "only one who's specially different. afterall i'm a terrier, not a golden." and now he's not the only different special one! he'll come around in his own time. he might need some extra love and hugs right now mom.
i too hope you have a WONDERFUL well deserved rest and fun for your long weekend.
xo to all,
tammy j
Sweet Todd is being taught all he needs to know from the other furry inhabitants of your lovely home.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos.
xx
But Charlie says I'M the TERRIER here! ;-) I think it's funny that he is taking longer to adjust--just shows the different quirks the breed types have. I too think he will come around and they will be fast friends. The puppies here are not daunted by the cat swats. I keep wishing one of the them would give the pups a painful swipe (just not the eyes please!) as those lessons make the most impact.
ReplyDeleteHave a good (and hopefully peaceful) weekend.
Tammy
With all that cuteness, I am sure Todd can win him over!
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet! I miss having a puppy...sometimes. Ha! Zeke was such a good boy as a pup! We always could not believe how he NEVER chewed up anything, he was house-trained in one day etc. But, everything he didn't do? Sadie-Louise did 10 times!!!! She was a pistol, which is how she aquired a middle name! I couldn't just say "Sadie" I had to say something with more conviction hence~
ReplyDelete"Sadie Louise"!!!! LOL!
She is such a love and thank goodness her chewing, tearing-up, shredding (as in my prized Ralph Lauren comforter!) days are over :)
Have a wonderful time off and thank you for all the wonderful you do!
xo, misha
What fun to have a pup in the house again! It's going to be wonderful to follow Todd's development. As for Sam....how sweet!

He sure is a little cutie Kim. I'm sure Charlie will accept him in time. Enjoy your long weekend and also the well earned rest. S x x x
ReplyDeleteI've become a real fan of terriers over the past year or so, and I'm really enjoying following Todd. He looks like such a happy dude!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of him "checking in" on Sam. He's wise to avoid the cat (heh!) and I'm sure he'll win Charlie over eventually.
Have a good one!
Sweet, sweet photographs! How wonderful to have a new puppy and watch the pack reacting to him. Have a wonderful long weekend.
ReplyDeleteTodd is sure a handsome fellow
ReplyDeleteSounds like Todd is carving his own place. Things will settle down, eventually, but, until they do, you sound like you are coping just fine.
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest pup! I bet he has all those Goldens whipped into shape in no time! Have a wonderful 4th! :D
ReplyDeleteO so sweet those two ......love Ria...XXX...
ReplyDeleteTodd fits in with the household like an old shoe.
ReplyDeleteHe's a cute little fellow, and I'm sure he'll find his pecking order in due time.
We have a July 4th picnic at a friend's farm, it's supposed to be 97 degrees HOT :(
Enjoy your time off, and catch up with you later ~

So sweet, looks like Todd is about to give Sam a kiss.
ReplyDeleteI think you should take Todd to the street fair! He'll love it!
ReplyDeleteWoof! Woof! Oh how cute is Todd n Sam's photo. For sure the senior gang is loving Todd's puppy's energy. You guys have a safe fun weekend. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteAren't cats all like that? They are such non-social creatures. Anyway, sounds like everybody else is getting along well with Todd. He is a real cutie! I hope he hasn't been in too much trouble. You know they aren't called Terrors for nothing!
ReplyDeleteHave a wondeful break Kim...you really deserve it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy relaxing with your 'gang':0)
Hi Kim. Isn't it great to have a nice super l-o-n-g weekend to enjoy? I have a feeling that once Charlie comes around, he and Todd will be the best of buds. These pictures are so sweet. Have a beautiful week and weekend, Kim! Love to you and the gang from Gracie and me!
ReplyDeleteGolden's have all the patience in the world, don't they?
ReplyDeleteSam
Charlie is bent out of shape now, but I'll bet in time they become good buddies. Are you having fun?
ReplyDeleteOMD Kim, Todd is SOooooo cute! Wish we could have a new pup too!! Your Goldens are very laid back and just the right mix to put up with one of us rambunctious terriers. BOL. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSmooches from pooches,

How can Charlie resist Todd's charms? Haha! Jealous, jealous. It'll all work out. Todd is such a cutie. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures.....Todd is a cutie!

Awe, how cute and sweet! They are so funny, and yes, I bet they will all be getting along before long.
ReplyDeleteA fair? That sounds like so much fun. Our town has never had anything like that. Have a Happy 4th, and be safe. Tell Todd what a cutie he is for me, would ya?
You can tell Todd is lovin' life, great photo. I have to believe Charlie will eventually come around, Todd will eventually win him over.
ReplyDeleteOh the most precious photo of Sam and Todd. What a special moment you caught.!
ReplyDeleteCharlie will come around, when hes in the mood.
And I think Todd will learn to stay away from kit kat!
