Home Alone

I'm home from work today.  I have to be honest, work and life's stressors have become a little overwhelming--And there is still plenty of week ahead with company coming this evening, again on Thursday and Carrie's surgery on Wednesday.  So rather than toughing it out at work and because I was feeling a bit snippy with everyone and not very much apathy, or empathy, I'm not sure which for patients, I decided what I needed was a day off....at home....alone...with the dogs of course.
To start our day, since I was already feeling guilty for not being at work, I decided that I would just add to those feelings and have a guilt-filled breakfast.  So Josh, Charlie, Sheba and I got into my van...
And crossed the Potomac River into Maryland...
And went to the only place that you can buy guilt on a dollar menu...
Guilt or not, it's good to be home today!
I'm feeling a bit more like myself already.  I hope you're enjoying your Tuesday!
~Annie~

  4. Too funny and so true! I took 3 days off last week for "sanity preservation" because I was feeling the same. I'm happy you're feeling better. Love the photo of the3 dogs in the van, that is just too cute!

  6. I am glad you took time for yourself. As MOM says, "if we do not take care of oursleves we can not take care of others." Love the picture of the pups in the van.

  7. Did your friends also have breakfast out? I'll bet they didn't feel a bit of guilt.

We're thinking about CarrieAnne and sending good doggy vibes her way. Let us know when it's over.

  9. Don't know what your McDonald's has for sale but here we've got $1 sausage biscuits. And last time I went to work and wasn't feeling it, I just had to have one to start my day. When I found out hash browns were 2 for $1 I was actually glad I went to work that day!!! :) Stevie@ruffledfeathersandspilledmilk.com

  11. Mental health days are essential now and then to refresh our minds and bodies. Dogs help and so do dollar menus. Glad you got both.

  12. Did you get stopped at the border for bringing that $1 contraband into Virginia?

  15. Kim, I'm glad you had a "mental health" day, that's what I used to call it anyway. I so love your home and setting-so very pretty. We all need to take it easy and sometimes that means a good old meal from McD's. Wish I could come hang out with you and the pack.
    Hugs today.

  20. I know what you mean about stress getting to be too much, I had a day like that yesterday, I'm feeling a bit better today, but I could use a whole week off or more! Preferably somewhere far, far away with my Sweetheart!

  42. Good for you for finding the strength to take care of yourself for the day! Why work when you are feeling out of sorts? I've gone to work before knowing full well that I needed to be alone and then regretting the decision to be at work rather than at home. I later realized that I need to listen to my instincts rather than give in to what society would rather have me do. In my opinion, taking the dogs to McDonald's is therapy and you deserved it as much as they did!
