Cautious Optimism and Secrets

I'm wondering why it is that Monday is a nicer day than the weekends?  We had really warm temperatures today with lots of sun, quite a change from the weekend.  The great weather was one reason why I hurried home this evening.  Another was to see how many stink-bugs were inside the house.  From last Monday, on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the worse, I would have given it 13.  Tonight however, I give it about a 6.  There were not nearly as many, and I only spent about 45 minutes vacuuming them this evening--Much better!!  There were also not nearly as many on the outside of the house or on the screens.  A good sign!  We'll see how long it lasts.  I'm afraid I'll jinx it but I am cautiously optimistic and hopeful.

Long time readers of this blog may remember that our girl CarrieAnne on warm evenings will often disappear to take a little swim in a place that only she knows about.  She did this tonight.  After 3 years, I still have no idea where she goes to cool off....
And Carrie is not telling her secret!

  1. I read an article a couple weeks ago about the dreaded stink bug infestation back east and was surprised they didn't mention your house specifically! (Totally kidding!)

My fingers are crossed that the "Bug Man" was able to work some magic. Like you, I would be at my wits end.

Carrie Anne looks quite pleased with herself. I think she enjoys her secret.... ;)

  17. We don't have a problem with stink bugs but we do with ants. Little tiny ones always invade every spring and then disappear a few months later. Hope that happens with the stink bugs for you.

  26. Oh my! I'm not familiar with the stink bugs and I did live in Northern VA for a couple of years. I thought the bugs down here in the the Lowcountry were horrendous, but those sounds insane! Hope you get them under control! If it takes a guinea hen, then so be it!
Every time I see CarrieAnne's name I can't help but think of our local celebrity songstress Cary Ann Hearst. Does your CarrieAnne sing, too?

Hope Charlie's paw is better soon!
