Riding the Wave

Off to the vet this morning with Hamlet.  He's developed a cough this week, and his paw is swollen.  The vet felt thought that his lungs didn't sound as clear as they did last week. He has a little bit of a temperature, so we've put him on antibiotics. We both don't think that the cancer is encased in the tumor alone and think that it probably has spread elsewhere, but we've no way of knowing.  But what I do know is that given everything, Hamlet really does to seem feel pretty good.  He has a great appetite, he still wants to go on walks with us, so we're just going to ride the wave and be thankful for each day!

On the way home, I saw this little pedestrian crossing the road alone, where there was no crosswalk.  I knew he would never make it across 4 lanes of traffic, a median and survive in a construction zone, so I stopped and picked him up and brought him home. This makes 4 terrapins I've moved off the road this year.  This little guy was in a hurry to be on his way, so we let him go at the edge of our woods and of course wished him 'good luck!'

He's truly in the best of hands and I hope you all have a lovely weekend. (Preakness Saturday!)

  13. How cool is that! We don't have friendly things here - most are poisonous. I'd love to rescue a turtle!

We will keep our paws crossed for Hamlet - he looks very happy in his pictures.

  20. I rarely see a terrapin where I live anymore but when I do I stop and move it out of the road.

Hamlet is happy with you and he knows he is fortunate to be there.

  22. The cough is probably caused by the weather. I know it's been reining a lot recently in your country. Well, I just hope he feels better soon. I bet that terrapin was very thankful to you for saving him. If it wasn't for your kindness, he would be a roadkill.

  23. As God's personal representative of unconditional love, Hamlet will soldier on, bringing all he touches joy and confirmation that all is well in the physical world; even if he is not.

    Paws Always crossed for Hamlet.

  25. I hope Hamlet keeps feeling good. I love reading about your rescuing of little turtles, it always makes me smile.

My mom, brother, our dog Rhea and I could use your prayers today as we had to say goodbye to our dog Rhea and let her cross Rainbow Bridge early this afternoon. She had been suffering from degenerative myelopathy for four months and in the middle of the night last night, my mom saw that Rhea could no longer control her back legs and that she was, understandably, very upset about it. The only thing we could do was say goodbye to her.

  34. Yep, those terrapins should carry a crossing sign when they brave traffic.

Read some posts to catch up on Hamlet. Glad he is getting some smiling time and enjoying food and walks. Hope he loses the temp on the med.

  36. Get better soon Hamlet!!

Hurray for saving turtles! We find lots of aquatic turtles around our house. Usually birdies drop them after scooping them out of ponds. We always return them to where they belong. Good job Kim!
