Life Goes On

A very quiet holiday weekend for us.  All we've done is spend time at  home with the dogs.  Rudi had been doing really well--Her appetite was good, and she felt well enough to go on walks with us.  But yesterday her abdomen again started to feel bloated, and the paleness of her gums returned.  With that brought a loss of most of her appetite and energy.  We'll take each day as it comes, enjoy them and let her decide the pace she wants to take.

On the flip-side we are of course enjoying the energy that only a puppy has!  Todd had his first vet appointment Friday, and our little growing boy weighed over 10 pounds!  There are also very brief moments when Charlie doesn't seem to mind Todd--Progress!!
Around us the fruit and vegetable stands are opening up for the season.
And just as I decided that I liked the overgrown field next to us, it was cut for hay.
Life, like Todd keeps moving on in our little corner of northern Virginia.
I hope you're having a good weekend!

  1. For a girl that, at one stage, wasn't going to make it through the night, Rudi has enjoyed a few precious extra weeks. Going for gentle walks? Brilliant. She wouldn't do that if she didn't want to. Sweet girl.

The photos of Todd are SO CUTE! That last one with his little paw, gorgeous!

  25. Oh Todd, you are a sweetheart!! Hi Kim. I'm glad you're enjoying your long weekend. Rudi looks good... glad she had some feel good time. I used to live directly above a field of hay and when it was cut, we'd get field mice in our house. Yikes... I love the country living though and wish I had it back, mice and all.

  32. my zekey would fill with fluid toward the end and they would drain the abdomen. i thought it was painful for him, but the vet said they do fine, and it really makes them so much more comfortable. finally, the fluid was more blood and it was at the end. i pray for rudi to somehow overcome this... knowing full well the course of life. as you said... the comings and goings and the movement forward of life itself.
my love to every single one of you at golden pines...
and that puppy is the right medicine for us all!!!
    happy 4th!

  39. Hi everyone. Thanks for stopping by our blog. We always love meeting new friends....and especially keeping up with a Rocky Creek pup.

Our human was raised in Annandale and is related to Loudoun County..as she says..so many cousins. Our Auntie lived in Lovettsville for years; but has now moved into Leesburg..the old section. So SHE's enjoying the pictures of the VA countryside.

We look forward to little Todd's adventures with all the Goldens!
