Jake and Todd -- Good Boys!

Thank-you all for your good thoughts for Jake!  He's really a sweet old boy and continues to settle in nicely.  He spends most of his time in our bedroom.  Getting him out without their being an accident remains the challenge because he's still leery of our kitchen.  But I have decided that the distance from our bedroom to the living room, is the same as it was for him to go from the place in his old house where he used to stay, to the outside because his accidents seem to happen in the same place each time.  Old habits I suppose. My 'usual' vet has finally returned from maternity leave and he'll be seeing her on Wednesday, so we'll see where we stand medically with him.

Tomorrow, as you know is the 9th of November--Todd will be 7 months old.  He is growing up much too quickly and it shows.  He's learned so much...

He comes when he's called.
He's learned to stay out of things.
And he knows to leave the cat alone.
Even though he's a terrier, he doesn't dig holes in the yard...
He really does seem to listen and understand me...
Todd is such a good boy!!
Enjoy your Tuesday!!

  9. Can hardly believe Todd is already 7 months old! Your "puppy" time will be over before you know it!

Ever thought of putting a cheap diaper on Jake - just to get him out the door and catching the accident?

He looks so relaxed, so sweet!

So happy Jake is getting a little more settled. Poor sweet boy has had things rather tough but hopefully will get good news from the vet and start to thrive.

  18. When our rottie, Missy, could no longer manage getting outside we just scooted a blanket under her and dragged her out the front door while she was laying on the blanket. She was heavy... 98 pounds. It wasn't easy so I know what you're going through a little bit. Hope things turn around. :-)

  20. It's so sad when dogs get old and get sick.. That is why I dog sit for people when they go on vacation. I can enjoy their dogs or cats and not have to own one.
    Loved your pictures of Todd..
Have a great day ~ ta ta for now from Iowa:)

  23. good news about Jake - man that's tough for an old guy to adapt after all those years. bless you all for being so patient.

Never a doubt about Todd. He's had so many great mentors.

  24. Gee, Todd has already achieved Jed & Abby's level of obedience and behavior! Substitute dragging mail & catalogs off the kitchen table for checking out the kitchen cabinets, and that whole story is Abby to a T - as in Todd :)

So glad Jake is settling in. Hope the vet can do something to help his paws. The rest will just take time and trust.

  32. Good to hear that Jake is settling in. Have you thought about belly bands for him? As Arlo is intact, he sometimes marks when he gets excited, so I have started using one on him. Love to Todd on his birthday.
