So Much for Enthusiasm!!

When I got up this morning, I was ready to start the day!  We've had 2 days with temperatures well below freezing, and the day was predicted to be a sunny and warmer one, giving me some added enthusiasm!
When daylight came, I took the dogs for their morning walk.  We even went a little farther than we usually do. You can see in the picture below, that Sheba also had enthusiasm at the start of the day!
It really felt good to be outside in the fresh air.
I fed the birds and took a few pictures.
Once back inside, I cooked breakfast for myself and the dogs and tackled the laundry.  I then reviewed the list of things that needed to get done. Sheba had a vet appointment to recheck how her leg is healing. (it looks great by the way) I had an appointment to get my haircut.  My van needs an oil change and a headlight needs to be replaced.  Of course there's always that needed stop at the grocery store. But then, I can't explain it, but something happened.  All of the sudden I had no energy or enthusiasm...
So, I called and rescheduled Sheba's and my appointments.  I'll have Carl  take care of my van on Saturday, and I think we have plenty of groceries.  I've spent the day with the dogs and just relaxing not really doing anything.  After all, why do today what you can do tomorrow or Saturday--Especially when it's your day off, right?!

  11. Hugs to you today Kim, I can totally understand your not having energy-girl you've had enough activity for the next couple of months. You just need to have some down time and enjoy your pups-emotional losses take a toll.
Wish I was there with you. On a off chance do you recognize a dog by the name of Rocko, whose owner is Savannah? I can't seem to find her blog; hate it when that happens. Have a good day tomorrow.

  14. It's a wise woman who listens when her body and mind tell her to rest. You have been through a lot and down time is a good thing. Look at those relaxed animals:-)

  15. I'm glad that you paid attention to how you were feeling today, and took the day for yourself - we need to do that sometimes!

Thank you so much for your kind words about William - I have been thinking of you often over the last few days, wondering how you manage this kind of loss as often as you do. Here's hoping the year ahead has much, much more joy than sorrow!

  18. With all the things you have been through and working too, you really need some time to yourself or you and the dogs to just relax. And, again, I'm so glad you have Todd. And also, reading the previous post, I am glad that Toby seems better. I so wish we could explain to them. And I worry about Samson without Angel. She's fine, but old and she is his everything. He is completely attached to her. Dear Kim, I don't know how you do it but I'm glad you had a good day.

  20. I can't think of many people more deserving of a mental health day than you, Kim. Glad to hear Sheba is doing well. I hope you were able to prevent whatever triggered the problems.

  25. It's funny how enthusiasm for an early morning walk with your dogs in the sunshine doesn't always translate into enthusiasm for errands! I have the same thing happen to me sometimes...

I hope that you got some good rest and relaxation today. I'm glad to hear that Sheba's leg is looking good.

  30. Sometimes a loss of enthusiasm is just what the doctor ordered!

    Nice way to re-prioritize!

  31. Hi Kim
Did it feel good to just take it easy and rest today after your walk? I bet it was so good to just stop and enjoy the changing weather. Ours changes every minute it seems. Tonight is fog- but we could see the moon that is growing!
I loved the red bird photo- wow!
    how gorgeous.
Sheeba is cute in her shirt as she was running- she looked like she felt good.
And of course Todd is so full of cuteness- he is so irrestistable!
Rescheduling the appointments was the best thing to do. And just give yourself time to heal and rest

  33. Yep, sometimes the energy just runs out. You and the dogs sure deserve a day of rest and re-creation. Glad to hear Sheba is healing well. Have you started working with the dog trainer yet, or are you just keeping Sheba and Carrie Ann separated for now?

  38. Kim,
We all need days like these and should take then more often. Life is too short not to smell the fresh snow and take the beauty of the day in.
Glad you had fun with the dogs.
