Taylor's First Week

Another week has flown quickly past us, and I'm confident that it's going to end on a good note for Taylor.  As the week has passed, she has become more and more confident and comfortable in her new home and seems happy.  She's gotten her appetite back, and is right there with the other dogs when treats are given and when waiting for her dinner.  While we're at work, she's just fine staying at home and is getting used to her new routine.
Taylor has a difficult time getting around, and I think the problem is her knees and hips. She has a very difficult time managing the two simple steps into the yard, and getting back inside always requires some help.  We are encouraging her to use the ramp that I set up for her, and I'm hopeful that the time will soon come when we won't have to remind her that it's there.

It goes without saying that I'm taken with Taylor.  She's a nice girl, with soul filled expressive eyes that are anxious to please.  She has great manners and even knows how to "shake." I think we're all going to get along just fine.

  7. What a relief! I'm so glad for all of you that she is settling. Change is not easy and I'm sure she has some grieving going on (I've heard dogs live in the moment but I believe they have memories and feelings.)
Such a sweet face! May I mention checking into using cosequin to help with the arthritis? Might mention it to the vet and see what he/she thinks, I could be WAY off, but we have had experience with it for dogs and horses wqith good results-some swear by it. Worth asking I believe.
Hope you have a peaceful weekend.

  10. Taylor's eyes tell such a story, I'm sure she is so happy, she doesn't need to even speak to tell us how happy. Your family expands, and so does the love and care you give out so generously. Cheers to all, Jean.

  20. That's lovely news, Kim. I'm so glad that Taylor is settling down. As others have said - she is a beautiful, sweet Golden oldie :)Thank you for sharing all your pups with us.
(Whenever I look at our Tammy, I think of you...she is 13 years now and also battles with arthritis - until she goes on her walk, that is. We laugh and think that she is simply ticking off her bucket list). It's beautiful to watch her celebrate life to the max.
Hugs to you and hugs to all the Goldens in your care.
