~One of the 'wrong things' I indulged in this weekend~ |
Of course, I told "Sid" all about Sunny and asked her to (please!!) be mindful of him and not grab his collar. After dinner one evening as we were clearing the table Sunny put his front feet on a chair to see if there was something for him on the table. In that one moment she did just what the trainer said someone not thinking would do, she tugged Sunny's collar and asked him to get down. And without a flinch, he did what he was asked. She and I both feel that there's hope for him.
~Sunny this morning, he still doesn't like the camera~ |
Our friend left early this morning in fog and temperatures in the 40's. Standing outside saying good-bye, we were all feeling pretty chilled by the crisp autumn air. Afterwards I did the only thing I could do, got another blanket and went back to bed. I do love the fall.

Maybe Sunny will learn to trust after all. Your friend must have magical powers and he sensed something about her. I thing your "wrong thing" to eat looks delish! I hope your week to come keeps going as well as the weekend.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Well done, Sunny! We'll keep our paws crossed that he learns that a tug on the collar is okay sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great reviving visit!
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Afternoon Kim, so nice you and your friend had visiting, good for you, yum, that burger looks so good......Soooo happy Sunny behaved, he will be ok I think with your kindness and love......Cool Fall air, nice, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that Sunny did not snap. Maybe there is hope after all.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have some of that weather here in sunny, humid and rainy Florida. YUCK.
Have a great week.
Ana
YEAH! I have tears of joy in my eyes, Kim!!!! I am happy you had fun...you so deserve it...but I am elated that Sunny just might come around...slowly...:)JP
ReplyDeletewhew! my stomach clenched a bit as i was reading this. SO glad sunny trusted her to just get down.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Sunny didn't do the nasty... Love those Golden faces ;-)
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Sunny! Kim, he knows that he's in a safe place. It's just going to take him a while to internalize it. Glad you had such a good visit. Friends are the BEST medicine.
ReplyDeleteSounds like there is hope for Sunny yet! That is good news! Glad you had a great time with your friend. Shadow is a cutie! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI have hope for Sunny too. He's a beautiful boy. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a wonderful time with your friend! And that cheeseburger looks super-duper yummy!
Oh I am glad Sunny didn't get defensive with your friend ! Maybe Sunny is ok when someone speaks to him at the same time they go for his collar and not just go for his collar . See I knew with you and your clan Sunny would do well ! Oh what are friends for , they are for comfort and fun and good chats ! Glad you guys had a good visit .Thanks for sharing. Have a good week !
ReplyDeleteMaybe time and love will take care of the problem. Let's hope so, anyway. How do you leash him if you can't touch his collar? Has a vet checked to see if he has pain in the neck or shoulder area? It could be as simple as arthritis or a skin problem or something causing pain that he is guarding against. Just thinking out loud.

Golden Happy too have cyber blogging friends. Oh That burger looks yummy. You caught a good shot of Sunny. Golden LOVE to the Golden Pines Gang. BTW: saw ur follow on Twitter :-) Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear Sunny mind his manners. We are keeping our paws crossed for him.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
I'm so glad that you had such a good friend with you during this gut-wrenching time. And, I'm happy to hear that Sunny responded well to a tug on his collar. That is a hard reflex for a human to change (to grab a collar when trying to quickly stop a dog from doing something).
ReplyDeleteHere's to your friend, you, Sunny, and all the pups of Golden Pines!
There is always hope. Glad to see Sunny just may be headed down the road of trust. AND there is no greater blessing than friends.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Sunny must be getting all the positive, loving messages across the miles, this is a real wonderful thing. He looks so loving, and I'm sure will get over his habit in the weeks ahead, off to a flying start. Fond greetings, Jean.
ReplyDeleteOh!! I've been thinking about Sunny all week. This is hopeful news...
ReplyDeleteHooray for good pals who visit!
ReplyDeleteI have never known a dog who didn't like his collar removed and his neck massaged. Can you do that with Sunny? If you could, a daily massage might change him around completely. (Someone last week thought his problems might have come from and electric collar.)
Cheers and hugs,
Jo, Stella and Zkhat
I think this is positive news for Sunny! I am happy for both of you. So glad that you had a nice visit with your friend...those days are good for the soul! Shadow is a beautiful dog too! Glad you are feeling better Kim!

Yay for Sunny! I truly believe he will eventually learn that no one is going to hurt him and he is in a safe place. And I'm so glad you had this time with your good friend to just relax, have fun and eat yummy stuff! You certainly deserve it after the past several weeks!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Sunny is fitting in with your pack - and looks like Shadow is too!! Sunshine and Shadow - I think they must go together - BOL!!

I feel certain that with your love and attention, Sunny shall bloom!
ReplyDeleteYour new boy Shadow is most handsome indeed.
Sending joy ...

How wonderful that Sunny obeyed without a fuss. :)
ReplyDeleteI love a cool day beneath a blanket too. It's just a cozy feeling.
That is wonderful to have a visit from a friend!!!! I wish I could come and visit with you!!
ReplyDeleteVery happy for Sunny x
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice time with your friend. It sounds like Sunny likes her. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat was good timing, your friend visiting, considering your week.....hope all is still well :)
ReplyDeleteI firmly believe dogs always know ...Sunny must be somehow finding it in his heart to trust n not be scared. ..I thought he might be intimidated by your Golden gang but it may just be d opposite. Sunny might learn from example to trust. Having you around must already be calming him. How I hope the trainer will be proved totally wrong!!
ReplyDeleteYour wrong thing looks very much right to me !!
Shadow is effortlessly fitting in! He looks really happy :)
ReplyDeleteYum! And way to go Sunny! Shadow is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI was afraid you were going to say she got bit!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Sunny has turned a corner. Hope so.
*hugs* ♥
Great first step. Wonder what was different? Figure it out and it might be the answer.
ReplyDeleteAlways Hope...Always Hope....

That's great!! You know Kim, Sunny has been weighing on my mind and heart and I'm so glad to hear that he didn't react this time. It may take a long time to get him not to do this, but I do think it's possible.
ReplyDeleteSunny just wanted you to know you did the right thing by him!
ReplyDeleteI am gonna have one of my favorite burgers next week on a girls night out. You have to let your hair down once in a while!
Glad to hear that!
ReplyDeleteI believe in my heart that Sunny can change, but it will just take a little more time with him.
ReplyDeleteI`m so glad you had a visit, pouring out on here is good, but having someone face to face laughing is good for the soul.Hope your weekend is lovely, phyllis
I'm glad you had a great visit with your friend. Sunny sure is a pretty animal. I'm happy you're enjoying this lovely fall season.
ReplyDeleteOh, I too hope that Sunny is on the way to a new and trusting life! Good job, Sunny! And Shadow - another beauty! Gorgeous animals, aren't they?
