The Heat is On

I was off to a running start early this morning.  That fall chill is in the air and it had me turning on the heat in the house and blasting it while in the car.  The trees are really starting to turn and the fall pumpkins, winter pansies and mums are being sold every where.

One of my stops today was the laundromat to wash and dry all of the dog beds. I've decided that laundromats have changed very little over the years, and this one is no exception and seems a little stuck in a time warp. But it was pretty much deserted, and I decided that I must be the only one with nothing else to do on a Saturday morning.
The day has come to an end with our keeping a close eye on Annie. She's not been feeling well the last couple of days, and today she has begun episodes of trembling or shivering. You may recall that Annie has lost about 75% of her kidney function, so this may be an indication that her kidney disease is in its final stages-- But of course that's only a guess, and I may very well be totally wrong about what's causing her to shiver.  Annie didn't come into the kitchen for her dinner, but she did eat her meal, and seems content and comfortable, so I'm trying really hard to not be too worried right now.  Would you believe that in January she'll be 15 years old?  I told her she has to stay well so we can celebrate.
I so hope Annie does, and I hope you are having a good weekend!

  1. OMGR... I falls more in lubbs wif Miss Annie wif each bicksher I see! Yess yesssss... Let's habbs a BIG BIRFDAY PARTY soon.

wif prayers and lubbs from Little Reufus

  2. Dear Annie, sweetness in your face , just like the pansies, you have so much love surrounding you right now, both near and far away, sending loving thoughts to all, Jean.

  3. We are also sending lots of love to Annie. Please Annie- please get better.
So much sadness happening in blogville-- but its also where peoples come together to love each other- and help each other through stuff.
Life has been so busy- and crazy, like a whirlwind- but we wanted to come visit you,, and we are glad we did. The pumpkiins are beautiful and it made us feel fall in the air.
Thinking of you,,, we hope you know it and can feel it..
and now-- please Annie- please be okay.

  4. I couldn't help grinning at that last picture of Todd. I also adore those pumpkins!

We'll be hoping Annie sees that special birthday! I remember how I felt about Lilac approaching her sixteenth, and it was a big deal when she made it. Here's hoping Annie sees that special day!

  5. The pumpkins are so cute. Love those fall colors. They are my favorite. Glad you had the laundry matt all to your self. Could you imagine having a ton of people there and having to wait for a washing machine or dryer. Hope Annie gets well and is able to live to celebrate her birthday.
Love the picture of Todd. He is such a ham.
    Have a wonderful sunday.

  6. Those painted pumpkins are so cute. Of course Todd is pretty cute too. In our experience with kidney disease with Nina the complete lack of appetite usually indicates the very final stages. I'm hoping Annie continues to eat and be a happy girl.

  7. Hi gang, tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day here our region....I 'm doing a good walk and maybe a park run too...hope you have a good day too. Stay strong Annie!

  8. I hope that Annie bounces back and that shivering goes away. I'm glad that she has you and silly Todd by her side!

  9. Oh Todd I bet you keep everyone and dog laughing. Comforting prayers for sweet Annie. Love love her sweet face looking up.

  10. Sending get well wishes to Annie! You have some good color going on there. Washing dog beds, sounds like fun... not. Todd sure is looking sweet!

  11. Here's to Annie for good health. Maybe the chilly weather is just hard to get used to for her. We hope that very much and wish too that she "makes" her birthday!

    Cheers and hugs all around,

    Jo, Stella, Zkhat

  12. What would you do without Todd's comic relief?

    Those pansies are beautiful :-)

  13. Annie is so cute. I think old dogs are so sweet and kind. I hope she'll be fine and be able to celebrate her birthday.

  14. Poor Annie. Your karma has been sorely tested of late.

  15. Hi Y'all!

Keepin' fingers crossed for Annie! Oh so wonderful when they have a happy, loving home at her age.

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  16. Thanks for asking....everything is ok here on the other site of the world.....always read your post.....but i have nit the tme to comment ...i will try to do that a little more....our Iris dog is very old and a little ill right now.....she is almost is so hard to see her strugle some days....have a nice sunday for you and all the !

  17. Morning Kim, love those pumpkins and Pansy's, so pretty......will keep sweet Annie in my prayers, sure hope she will be ok......Hugs Francine.

  18. Sweet Annie -- warming hugs to her and you (and Todd too!)

  19. Bundling up here for now, because I'm too frugal to turn on the boiler just yet. Down throws, socks and slippers, snuggling with the dog suffice for now ... but I don't have a house full of senior dogs to keep warm.

Annie makes me remember kidney failure in our Cindy. She got to the point where she couldn't keep her body temperature up and was cold all the time. Such a sweet face on dear Annie ... hugs to her and to you, for being such a caring, loving Mom.

  20. Lovely Autumn blooms!
I hope Annie is feeling improved...a freshly laundered, cosy-warm bed is just the tonic.
    Sending hugs your way ...

  21. My thoughts go out to Annie, poor baby, thank goodness she is in the best of hands with you.

Visit when you have time, we are all busy, and remember that it's life first, Blogging afterwards.

Give Annie a hug for me.

  22. Our washer died on us and due to the shutdown we decided to wait - so that meant several trips to the laundromat. It was a little surreal, especially since ours has a bar in it. ;)

We hope Annie will feel better soon.

    Monty and Harlow

  23. sending good wishes Annie's way - hoping she's feeling better soon..

Nadine & goldens Neeli & Elle

  24. Morgan is going to be 14 in a couple weeks. She's slowed down a lot and seems confused a good deal of the time. Also her legs quiver so hard it looks as if she'll fall down at any time. It's because of the arthritis I think and she doesn't let it stop her. Today we were blowing bubbles and she was trying to catch them. No one told her she was old.

  25. Sending big hugs to your entire pack and especially Annie. What an incredible life you've given her Kim, you changed her world for the better. Praying it isn't the end but also that she isn't in pain.
    Sending love,
    Noreen & Hunter

  26. Reminds me of days back in vet school when washing too many horse/dog blankets put the washing machine out of commission. The laudromat idea is definitely wise.

Here at the hospital we're celebrating "sweater weather" and cuddling critters even more than normal :).

Hope all stays well with your crew and feel free to give me a call about Annie.

  27. I love those pansies. And that has to be the cleanest laundromat I have ever seen!
Here's hoping that Annie will be feeling better soon, Kim. ♥

  28. We hope Annie gets better soon. Mom thinks Todd such a handsome scottie what am I chopped liver!

    Aroo to you,

  29. Hugs of warmth to Annie; sweet girl. Love her blankie. And oh, those pansies are so beautiful along with the pumpkins - they've always been a favorite.

  30. Here is hoping and wishing for that sweet face and of course, your's too!!!
    Gus' Mom

  31. Hang in there Annie. We loves you so much. Such a sweet girl. Rooooos from Easton

  32. I smell snow. Last time I said that it snowed the next day. Winter flowers, huh, sounds foreign to me.
    Hugs to Annie, sweet girl.

  33. Poor Annie. Hope she bounces back.

  34. Oh, hugs for Annie. I, too, hope she hangs on for her big celebration. What a sweet girl. Much to my husband's dismay, I've turned the heat on here too!! :)

  35. Sweet, sweet Annie. Hang in there Angel. I hope you are feeling better soon!
