The Local News
We end the week with everyone feeling pretty well and much cooler temperatures. Tomorrow morning it'll be an early start with Cissy and Shadow who both have vet appointments for check ups.
Our week did have a bit of an unexpected twist when our dog-walker of 6 years was the subject of a story on the evening and morning news of all the local channels. Authorities have charged "CC" and she has pled guilty with taking prescription drugs from a home in July. According to the report, the home owners there became aware that prescription medicine was taken from their home while they were out of town and "CC" was providing pet sitting services for them. I won't go into any detail, but I have to admit that this year there have been a few instances where 'things' didn't quite add up. But I overlooked them because "CC" was very reliable and dependable and I thought maybe I was wrong. This was easy to do because I trusted her and like(d) her very much. Now that everything has come out, and what I didn't want to think about our dog-walker has been confirmed, I find all of this extremely disappointing. So I reluctantly begin the search for a new dog-walker. However, I will have to first let "CC" go, which is something I've never done before and I'm really not looking forward to doing--But who would?

ReplyDeleteOh yikes! We've often talked about a dog walker, but worry about letting someone in our house. Hopefully your next dog walker will really be a gem.
ReplyDeleteMonty and Harlow
That's terrible. I hope that your dog walker gets help with what is probably an addiction...
ReplyDeleteWe had a similar situation, when a worker showed up on an unexpected day, and I hadn't hidden my meds. The bottle was almost completely emptied, leaving only one pill. Fortunately, he was done with the job so we didn't have to formally "let him go". We have simply never hired him again.
So sorry you're in this situation.
Ugh, that's a crummy situation. I'm sure she doesn't expect to be welcomed back.
ReplyDeletewow. I hope you find just the right dog walker. I am sure your former dog walker will be expecting you and other to let him/her go.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Evening Kim, oh boy, who do you trust now a days, geeze.....love the pictures of the furry faces, always warms my heart.....Have a great weekend, Francine.
ReplyDeleteIt's never easy to let someone know you can no longer trust them. In this case I think you should simply tell the dog walker you are sorry for her problems and that you hope she will be able to get the help she needs to overcome them. But you must think of yourself and your dogs and you have no other choice but to find someone else you can fully trust. Good luck, dear blogger buddy.
ReplyDeleteOh Kim- this is so hard!
ReplyDeleteWe know the frustration you must be feeling- because she took such good care of the dogs- and its hard to find a reliable person.
So scary thinking about what all she has done.

For me, it almost goes without saying that someone who takes drugs would not be welcomed back to any home at all, and having pled guilty, a clear understanding why.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find someone very good.
cheers,
Jo
That is very disappointing, especially as you'd found a good dog walker.
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
That really sucks... :(
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be frustrating feeling like you can trust someone and then finding out they've been dishonest.
ReplyDeleteI just spoke at a pet sitter's conference a couple months ago and there were some great groups setting up more safety features to help pet owners hire trustworthy folks.
Sadly necessary it seems :(
Be thankful. The 'CC' story could have ended so differently.
ReplyDeleteThat's not nice at all. I hope you'll have better luck with your new dog walker. Happy weekend, Kim and hugs for the dogs ;O).
ReplyDeleteIt is a very sad situation and one in which you feel the trust has gone and where our loved ones are concerned, we need the best possible care.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you find someone who will restore the trust.
The news about "CC" must be so disappointing...It's hard to decide to trust a relative stranger not only with your home, but with your precious pups...I've been lucky in that I have excellent friends that I trade petsitting with...either i stay at their place with Gizmo to care for their pack (like we did this past week) or Gizmo stays with them when I'm gone and gets spoiled rotten
ReplyDeletei feel bad for CC....but she needs help. Rx abuse is so rampant....and once one is hooked that is all they care about...getting the drugs. sorry that you had to lose a reliable dog walker...and hopefully she gets the help she needs...
ReplyDeletexoxo
We are sorry that you had someone violate your trust. That is always really hard. Good luck at the vet!
ReplyDeletei am terribly sorry. she made a terrible mistake in helping herself to things she shouldn't have. but i know she's been a part of your life - and a trusted part of your home - for many years. i am very sorry you have to begin again...
ReplyDeletei like shadow's 'frowny' face. :)
Glad the animals are all fine. What a pity about your dog walker and the fact you have got on with her for so long. A shame doubly for the dogs as they obviously get on with her. Is it difficult for you to actually get rid of her, do you have to give so many weeks notice?
ReplyDeleteI would guess CC will know she is all done walking dogs b/c it has been on all the news chennels she can not be trusted with other people's things!!!
ReplyDeleteShe probably has an addiction.
GOOD LUCK finding another.....
I would love to talk to you soon Kim.
So sad i hope you find a new one...love Ria...x !
ReplyDeleteYou have make beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, RW & SK
Yep, it's a shame that there are so many people who take advantage of others in this world today. Dad says he and Mom can remember when you could sleep with the doors and windows open at nigh and as kids they could sleep outside on really hot nights.
ReplyDeleteWell the politics are over, so do what's right, hope all the puppers have a good weekend!
The Mad Scots
It's doubly hard to find someone to help when you have a large pack as we do. When our best friends lived next door it was ideal, but not now.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the vet visit.
That is so sad -- it's hard to find someone and then lose them for reasons like this :(
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this in the news, and heard that she was in your neck of the woods, I wondered if she was your dog walker. In light of what she admitted to doing, you have no choice but to let her go.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, how disappointing! I'm so sorry for these troubles and hope that CC can get back on the right track with some help!I totally understand you having to let her go though, I would definitely do the same!
ReplyDelete*HUGS*
ReplyDeleteHope the vet checkups went well, Kim.
Have a wonderful Sunday. ♥
Hi Kim! I'm just now catching up on some of your last posts. I think Annie is so beautiful with her white face! I'm glad she's feeling somewhat better. I loved the picture of Todd looking at you during your nap. lol. too cute! Too bad about the dog walker. You just never know, do you! Hope you're having a good, relaxing weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow Kim-that had to be disconcerting! It is super hard since you trusted your walker with your precious bunch! Hoping she gets some help and that you find the perfect person to help out with your pack!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!!!
Trusted wif yeur most priceless valuables, and what a betrayal... and o how I can imagine the stress of terminating the relationshib...
ReplyDeleteWishing all goes whell wif lubbs from Little Reufus
Honestly, it is so hard to find someone who you can trust not only with your valuables...but your dogs...and everything else! I'm so sorry you are in this situation, Kim, and sending you strength to get through it. Hugs, Jeanne
ReplyDeleteKim, that really is a sticky situation to be in. The 'walker' obviously has some kind of problem and you liked her, but now you have to think of the welfare of your dogs too.....who knows what is going on with CC.
ReplyDeleteGuess you have to 'bite the bullet' on this one. Good luck.
that's just awful. So disappointing when it's someone you trusted and so sad that she would stoop to it. Yes indeed, it's never fun letting someone go regardless of anything they may have done. Finding new people to mesh with the pets is hard - it's like trying to find someone you like to do your hair, or a new doctor. I'm hoping all works out for you and the gang!
ReplyDeleteAwful. That's what it is. Sometimes people we really like and trust are such a disappointment.. (to put it mildly.) I hope you can find someone you and your dogs trust and like. And i'm thankful she never hurt you, Carl or your dogs!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Kim, that really stinks, so disappointing. I hope this incident is the catalyst that helps her get the help she needs and that she gets her life back on track.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with it.
Oh wow that is too bad.
ReplyDeletegood grief!
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have to "fire" someone. My Human used to be operations manager for an international company and as a result did much of the hiring and firing. Firing always made her uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable.
We've also had trouble with "things" going missing when we have had people working inside. (cash, jewelry and watches, especially watches, no matter how well concealed are often targets}
A friend whose husband was dying and on heavy pain meds caught a long time close friend of theirs trying to steal her husband's pain meds.
My Human says you can't trust anyone in your home, ever!
Hope all works out for the best,
Hawk aka BrownDog
