The Welcoming Committee

~Joshua~
The week has been a non eventful and very quiet one for us. Cissy is doing just okay.  Being a girl, and an independent one at that, she has decided that she no longer wants me care for her tender ear.  She started to run away from me when she saw me coming towards her with a wash-cloth -- Who knew a gal of her unknown and respectable age could be so quick and agile?   She would also whine when I would try to put the compresses on it, or even just to move it gently for a look.  But it's easy to tell that there is some swelling. Given that, I don't think we're going to be able to avoid surgery.
~Cissy styling in her cone of shame and coat~
Our week ended with the firing of our dog-walker of 6 years, and the arrival of the new one to meet the pack.  Actually, 'Lydia' is not new to some of the dogs.  She used to work for 'CC' and came to our home for about 3 years, and left almost that long ago to work for another service. I really liked her, and was disappointed when she left.  But Lydia now has her own business and was more than happy to take us on as clients.  When the Goldens meet someone new, it's like they are meeting a friend, so I don't know if Sheba, Josh and Carrie remembered Lydia or not. Charlie is always a little shy when meeting someone new, however Lydia and I both thought he seemed to remember her because he was so happy when she came in, and tried several times to get into her lap.
~The welcoming committee~
Todd was one of the dogs she'd never met.  And like many Scottie's he is aloof by nature and he is also a bit territorial.  Despite the warm welcome from the Goldens, all Todd could do at first was bark and bark at Lydia.  And when she sat down on the steps he nipped at her, nearly tearing her shirt in the process.  By the end of the visit, when Todd was done showing off, he was still a bit reserved, but was taking treats from her hand. I have a feeling that two are going to be great friends, and Lydia is determined that they will be.

  1. Good for the pack, yep bet they do remember her. As for Todd, that's us, it's takes several visits before we become comfortable with someone. Per The Scottie Property laws, you are in MY territory and messing with all my stuff. Dad says us Scots own it but, we let the peeps use it!

  3. Cissy is rocking her coat and cone of shame. Her picture made me laugh out too cute. It's definitely a scottie thing we air on the side of caution when meeting knew people. I usually worm up and especially if they are offer treats.

    Aroo to you,
    Sully

  4. I hope Cissy feels better soon. It's sure is funny how much they can avoid something if they really want to no matter how old they are. I'm sure all your pack will love the new walker very soon. Glad you were able to find one you could trust so quickly.

  17. Hi Y'all!

Todd, what are you aimin' for? to headline the Mischief Monday post? Cissy would only be a close second to be chosen as headliner.

  21. I hate to hear that Cissy's ear is still hurting butt it will be good to have it taken care of poor thing must really hurt for her to be so careful with it. Am thankful you have a new dog walker and I'm also glad that you know her from before and can trust her.
As for Mr. Todd, I so appreciate that you understand his personality my dachshund is a lot like that and while I want him to be cordial and behave I know that isn't always in their nature.
Hope you've had a good weekend and a wonderful upcoming week.

  22. Kim,
Oh poor Cissy and her cone of shame. She looks so unhappy at the moment but hopefully all will be well soon.
A new dog walker will be good for the crew especially since you already know her and like her.
I'm sure Todd will be eating out of her hands literal for treats and special pats.
I just love all the pictures you post of the crew, it really does brighten my day.
Thanks for stopping by my blog site it made me smile and hopefully soon I'll start blogging again.
In the mean time give the crew a hug from me and a extra little pat to Cissy.

  24. Glad you found a new dog walker. It's rather unpleasant having to express your displeasure with anyone, especially if it involves cutting off their income. I'm glad you found someone new and likable though.

  25. Hi Kim, Todd sounds like a typical terrier to me. Our friends that have Cairn pup are always saying that terriers love to hit life head on like a bull, wanting things there way. Glad you were able to get a good dog walker-such a shame that after so many years, you lost your old one. I hope you are enjoying the cooler, crisp days of Autumn.
    Hugs, Noreen

  33. That really stinks about CC. I know how you were dreading it, but I'm glad you have someone that you can turn to.

Poor Cissy, I was hoping she would feel better and avoid the surgery.

  34. Breaking in someone new can be a chore sometimes but Lydia seems to fit right in....except for Mr.Todd. He'll come around.

  35. Todd is such a rascal. I hope he soon realizes that he's not really in charge, he just thinks he is.
