We've had a week of internet and phone problems. Keeping a connection on the internet for any length of time was almost impossible. Thinking it was just the internet, on Wednesday I realized that our land-line was dead and going straight to voice-mail. This may not have been a problem if we had voice-mail on our land-line, but we don't. New equipment arrived on Friday and Carl seems to have resolved the internet issues, but fixing our land-line is probably something only our phone company can fix.

Whatever our internet problems were at home, it didn't stop me from looking at it while at work. On Tuesday I saw on Facebook a plea from a local rescue that was looking for
'emergency foster homes' for 100 cats in a shelter in Virginia that was closing. The cats were going to be euthanized if rescues were unable to take them. So, you can guess what happened next.....I know, I know, we just lost our sweet girl CC and I was really adamant about not getting another cat because of Shadow. But we would only be fostering the cat, and not keeping it, so that makes it okay, right?

Right....And that's what I'm going to keep telling myself now that I've met six-month-old "Dale," who arrived today at Golden Pines. Of course all the dogs were excited to meet him, especially Charlie.
Todd was front and center and kept jumping up to get a better look.
For now, Dale is staying in our spare room, and we've not allowed the dogs to meet him outside of the crate. Charlie has been sitting outside the bedroom door whining and hoping for a glimpse of the new arrival--I did let him in to get a closer look because for whatever reason Charlie seems to be really taken by him.
I can understand why.
Good luck on sticking with the fostering. My BIL found a kitten in his sons recycling and she was going to be a foster too. I think that my resolve lasted about a week. Those little blue eyes were just lookin' into my soul. And one year and about four months or so later. Midget the Idget is in for the long haul.
ReplyDeleteOh Dear, CC has sent a message to you, please give this beautiful ginger boy a loving home, just like you did for me. I'm sure all the doggies will love him to bits. ginger boys have that something so special. Kim, I hope you and Carl are just one of the other 99 loving people. Cheers from Jean.
ReplyDeleteSo happy Dale has joined the team...Todd needs something to harass. We hope that he fits right in, because we think he may be a 'foster failure'...bwahaahaa! Hope some more of those kitties found fosters...so sad.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Groundhog will have good news later today. It's the 2nd here.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Why am I not surprised? Lucky kitty.
ReplyDeleteOh he looks just like our Marmalade did when we first brought hime home from Animal Aid shelter. That was back in 1970 and I can still remember the love he gave to us. Ginger toms are a delight - they exude charm and have great personalities
ReplyDeleteTake care
Cathy
You are brave. I would be petrified to have a cat here in my home. Roscoe would eat it. Sometimes at night the stray cats sleep in our terrace and if Roscoe smells them he barks and charges at the door to get it. My poor husband is going to have a heart attack one day.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new addition. He is cute though. Love the colors. Have a great rest of the weekend. Stay warm. Ana
That cat has chutzpah !
ReplyDeleteHe looks adorable and he could really fit in to your group, they're all same colored too! Hahahaa! Let's see what's going to happen
ReplyDeleteDale is a brave kitty to be around all your dogs. I hope he fits in and the groups all except him. You are so nice to be a foster Mom for Dale. I hope all the others found homes too. Cute photos, have a happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMorning Sweet Kim, oh you are such a angel, Dale is so adorable. Keep telling yourself just a foster, but I think I know better :) Enjoyed all the pictures of the welcome committee, cute!!! Big Hugs Francine.
ReplyDeleteCat in a crate on top of the stove ... love it! I understand Dale wearing the 'foster' label. We just did this with Winnie, as you know. It may or may not be time for you to get another cat yet ... that little voice in your gut, and Shadow's persistence with trying to eat the little guy, will lead the way. Regardless, I am proud of you for stepping up and giving this cute little ginger guy a place to stay.
ReplyDeletewhat a cutie! bless your heart for taking him in! the dogs sure are happy!!
ReplyDeletexoxo
I'm sure I'm not the first to say this but he even matches the dogs!! I bet this is one foster who already has a home.
ReplyDeletecute little dale! lordy, you never make it easy on yourself. but i understand. :)
ReplyDelete(and our country phone line out here does the same thing when it goes out - goes to 'voice mail' that we never have asked for)
Dale is a real sweetie. I had to look twice to see Todd's head popping up in front of the golden head in that 5th picture. I'm glad you had room to help "foster" Dale and rescue him when he needed it.
ReplyDeleteCindy
When one door closes, another opens. Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteIts so kind of you to foster Dale. How awful thee cat chelter is closing down. I hope the other cats are lucky enough to be fostered. xxx

ReplyDeletehow many cats didn't get rescued?
I surely hope that Dale finds happiness

Your big heart has no bounds. The last picture is priceless, I bet he'll get to stay and that Charlie will be his best friend.

Dale has the right coloring to fit in at Golden Pines......might be a keeper, just sayin.

I wonder what Dales thinks at all their cute faces!
So nice of you to be a "temporary home" for awhile! You saved him!

tweedles
Hope Dale is settling in. He looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have better luck getting your land line fixed than we did. Took them about six years. Of course we gave up after a month and went totally cell, but yes.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they get it fixed!
So Dale is moving on??? ;-)
*hugs* ♥ :-)
What an incredibly cute kitty! I bet that Charlie wants to be best friends with Dale. I love the photos of the pups all trying to catch peek!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a big heart - and thank goodness - because you have saved so many animals.

You are such a good person, Kim. Blessings on you!
Jo
There's no resisting an orange tabby -- bless you Kim. xo
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all!
ReplyDeleteHow'd y'all manage with the big ice storm?
At the shore the bridges were closed for days and my Human's brother said the 2 inches of ice didn't melt until Friday.
We were lucky. The Humans had to cancel and reschedule the appointments that kept us in the mountains, but at least here they have chemicals and snow removal equipment!
It was was in the 60's here Friday and still hanging in the 50's when we got up this morning...raining though.
My Human says she bets that kitty just found its forever home!
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Dale is such a cute cat. I hope he and the dogs get along well and soon the cat will be a part of the family. I'ts so wonderful of you to rescue animals. What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteOh dear...and you got a 'redhead' to boot. They seem to make their own drama, and I predict within a short time that Dale will have set everyone straight and claimed his place within your home. I wonder what he thinks with all the dogs. Doesn't seem to disturbed! Good luck and hope that it all goes smoothly and yay for you for getting the little feller out of 'jail'.
ReplyDeleteTammy
I seem to remember someone saying "no more cat for a while", you big soft hearted mush ;O)
ReplyDeleteAwwww Dale is so cute! Yep, I do believe Charlie and Gracie must be distant relatives. She does love kitty's too, Charlie ;-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read your post on CC yet. I know it will make me cry... but I will get there...
No snow today for you today Kim? We have about 6 inches... it is stopping now .. Stay warm!
OMG Dale is ADORABLE. I have a strong feeling your keeping him but if you don't then send him up here!
ReplyDeleteoh that tiny tiger face.
ReplyDeletewhy am i not surprised.
you're a guardian angel.
the very best kind.
xo
Oh my gosh; what a sweetie. And you are too! Oh, I just love that picture of all those little heads looking in at the new arrival. ha!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your crew cracks me up! I can imagine what poor Dale is thinking. ha ha He is adorable - I hope all goes well when the official introductions happen. My goodness that's a lot of cats in need of emergency rescue. It just makes your stomach turn. We visited a farm animal sanctuary a couple of years ago and same thing with farm animals. We hope someday to have enough property to be on the farm animal rescue list.
ReplyDeleteDale is counting his lucky stars he gets to be at Golden Pines!
ReplyDeleteoxox
Daisy
We think Dale won the lottery as a foster at your house. I just cannot foster....I would fail miserably and end up divorced to boot!! What a cute kitty!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Dale!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky kitten! I have a huge soft spot for orange kitties. Plus he'll match the goldens! Glad to see you opening up your home to a new furball :).
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweety. You just can't resist can you! I'm not surprised. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sweetie Dale is! In that last photo, it's as if he's saying, 'hi all! I'm Dale, and i'm awesome. And of course you're fostering a kitty, Kim! What else coupd you possibly do?? ;)
ReplyDeleteBless you Kim... I understand you and you know I'm the same. Utterly incorrigible - and thank God for that!! Who knows what Dale's destiny is but he sure seems to fit right in! Oh and he looks real sweet too.
