The Eyes Have It

Another week has passed since I last posted.  Why and how is time, especially the summer passing so quickly?  When you're a kid every day seems like an eternity. This was true through most of my younger years. But all that seems to be changing now. There never seems to be enough hours in each day. Months are passing so quickly, and events of a couple of years ago seem like they happened yesterday. And lets not get started about how on some days I can lose my keys, glasses and my train of thought.  Am I the only one this is happening too?
Enough of that.  The past week was a busy and pretty good one.  Each day taken up by work, and the evenings with appointments and the dogs.
~Cricket, who's doing really well~
Gus was seen a second time by the holistic vet for acupuncture.  The wound is getting smaller and is surrounded by new, healthy and pink tissue.  The acupuncture treatments already seem to be making a difference.  He's up and around a bit more and just seems to feel and be happier overall.
This morning  I took Beau's to see the ophthalmologist.
Beau waited patiently for an hour past our appointment time to be seen.
The ophthalmologist said that the entropia has damaged Beau's eyes over his lifetime. Surgery to correct it could be done.  However given his age, (about 13ish) the ophthalmologist is recommending a less invasive procedure that can probably best be described as an "eye-lift"--Something our cat, the lovely Ms. Yellow (below) certainly doesn't need --But if the rescue agrees and approves, I think will make a difference for Beau.

  1. Many of us can emphasise with your feelings. Time flies when you're having fun? I can so vividly remember what I was doing at the same time of the previous year.
Such good news. So glad Cricket is doing well. And sweet ole Gus. Phenomenal progress. I know you are beyond happy.
And, little Beau, i know the surgery will be a blessing. Make him feel so much better.

  12. We feel like you do about time.. We have already begun to notice things that happen in the fall-- like bugs singing,,, It seems just yesterday was the first day of spring.
Sometimes things get lost here too,, but toys are always found and rounded up by a good sniffing nose.
The butterfly photos are sooo perfect,, I wonder if the butterflys think time is going fast?
Cricket looks soo happy and well. And isn;t it wonderful acupuncture can help and animal feel better!! Were happy for Gus,, and of course the help of the holistic vet!
An eye lift for Beau's eyes- should help! We hope everyone thinks so too..
Yellow seems to look happy that no trips to the vet are needed!
I hope you find some time for yourself soon Kim,,, A little calm and quiet helps,, right?
    love

  14. I'm not only forgetting where I've put things, I'm putting them in strange places! I stuck a dirty dish in the oven rather than the sink. I must be totally losing it.
I applaud all that you are doing with these rescue dogs. A couple of months ago, two older Goldens were dropped off at the local shelter. I meet the female because they brought her into the clinic I work at to have her ears checked. I soon became obsessed with these dogs and I found a home for the male and then I thought I had a great home for the female but it fell through. I was devastated and my own tiny home is bursting at the seams so I couldn't bring her home. Finally after a long period of treatments and special diet, they got her ears cleared up. Yesterday I got the good news that a wonderful family adopted her. It was so hard on my heart worrying about those dogs. I am happy to read that you are out their rescuing all that you do! Thank you so much!

  15. Well, Kim, the older you get, the faster time will seem to go. It's amazing how white Gus's fur is on his face. He is such sweet looking boy. I am glad you got to meet a Samoyed, they are very sweet dogs too, just like your crew. Well, I don't know about those terriers, hmmm, Todd, are you a sweetie pie? Thanks for your concerns too, I really appreciate your kindness. It's about being evaluated for a liver transplant. Which is so scary to me. It has made all this very real. Take care.

  16. Great pictures! I'm so glad Gus is feeling better, and that something not too invasive might help Beau. As always, bless you!

And yes, time does go faster and faster.

  17. Crikey Mum put the icecream in the pantry the other day instead of the freezer. Most of the time she doesn't know if she's coming or going so you're not the only one. So glad Gus, Cricket and Beau are doing ok. It will be good for Beau if something can be done for his eyes, aye?? Your photos are so beautiful. The cat's eyes are amazing.

  20. Yes Kim, this has been a busy summer for us too. Time is flying by, pushed along by the incredible weather and endless things to see and do here in Seattle. Always good to see news from GP. Do - take care of yourself so those senior Goldens can have their hero fresh and energetic for the winter of their lives. Sounds like Gus and Beau will be just fine. We are thrilled. Easton sends Rooooooooooos.

  26. I am experiencing the same thing as you - there aren't enough hours in the day.

Your photos are SO lovely. And, I adore your devotion to your animals. I hope that Beau's "eye lift" helps. You're right - Ms. Yellow does not need one!
