A good first week for our newest addition, Georgie. It was easy to see he became relaxed as he learned the routine by following the lead of our crew. He's shown that he's a quick study because it didn't take long for him to learn to stop by the back door for a treat when he comes inside.
Georgie's retriever side shows in that he loves attention. A couple of nights he woke me up nudging my hand for pats and a nighttime chat. I'm wondering if he just needed some reassurance, because afterwards he'd lay down and sleep the rest of the night.
He also is getting along well with the other dogs. Having lived with small dogs, Georgie barely seems to notice Todd trying to boss him around. And best of all, our boy Gus seems to have found a new pal.
A bossy Scotty? Never :)
ReplyDeleteGeorgie looks like such a sweetheart!

Gus with Georgie,I almost have tears at seeing them together, what a wonderful boy to fit in so well and so quickly, love and companionship in huge amounts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. I was saying aww after every sentence. It must be so hard coming into a new home and learning the ropes. How wonderful, to have that reassurance of a love pat and warm words to help him adjust.
ReplyDeleteI worried about Gus losing his buddy, Beau. Gus is such a loving, sweet boy, despite all of his physical ailments. i know he is grateful.as well as Georgie, to have a new best friend. I know your heart is so happy when you see your babies needs being fulfilled.
So happy it has been a smooth transition for all of you.

ReplyDeletethis whole post just warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteand that you reassured him in those first nights...
face it. some people would have yelled at him to "STOP! just go to sleep!"
but not you. you knew he needed that little bit of love and encouragement that everything was going to be alright.
if we just put ourselves in their paws... not knowing the language... a strange place... new people and other dogs...
no way to understand except by a loving touch and a kind voice.
it's good on you dear heart. always. good on you. XOXO♥
Good morning. I just found your blog and wanted to say congratulations on the newest addition to your family. He's a beauty!! We adopted a ten year old dog a few years back and it was one of the most rewarding things we've ever done. Sierra was with us for almost six years and brought us so much joy. I'm also so sorry for the loss of your other pup. You are an amazing family to give him such a beautiful end of his life. I could look at the faces of your fur babies all day!!! Just so wonderful!!! Have a great weekend!! : )
