Angel Watch for Gus

An "Angel Watch" for Gus began last evening.
He wakes up every once in awhile to look around as if to make sure he's still here.
I talk to him, give him a few pats, hold his paw, and he puts his head down and falls deeply asleep again.
Dr. E., the vet that has been coming for nearly a year to treat Gus will be coming this afternoon and he'll begin his journey to the Rainbow Bridge.   There is peace. It's as it should be.

  24. Dear Gus,
I have loved seeing your sweet face, playful antics (kitty patrol) and calm spirit on this blog from the beginning when you joined your new family at Golden Pines.
You were truly born with a brave and bold heart in being able to live each day fully with help from your LGP momma (& her crew) and in spite of your health difficulties.

I will miss you dear Gus and I am sending much love and peace to you for your next journey to the Rainbow Bridge.

  31. I love Gus. MY first thought, when I saw beautiful Lexi coming to live with you, was Oh, Gus is going to be so happy, a new friend for him to snuggle with!
I know in my heart that all of the time he lived with you were days of grace with all of his physical ailments. But, he seemed to make the very best of it, with the most wonderful attitude and loving spirit. He, especially touched my heart, because he seemed to make the very most of his circumstances.
I grow to love all of your babies, but sweet Gus, what a truly wonderful golden. This is an especially hard one. I shall miss witnessing his life.
I am so grateful, that sweet Gus, waited for you to be home from Kentucky.
What a sweet, wonderful, boy that is a perfect example of what being a golden means.
Warm hugs to you and Carl. And thank you for giving him the best, most loving latter portion of his life. So very sorry for your loss. I know, by all of your posts, what a dear part of your life, he was to you.
    Gus' Mom

  32. So much love and quiet sadness in this post today.
Gus has had so much happiness with you and he now knows it is time to say goodbye to his friends. I know how hard it was to say goodbye to our Emma (golden retriever) but her memory is still with us. They are such gentle, loving creatures.
I am sure Gus will have a peaceful journey across the bridge.
    Farewell dear sweet gentle Gus.
