What Really Matters

I will start this post by saying that I am totally devoted to my current vet that has seen our dogs for more years than I can remember.  But for Sunny who is stressed by a car ride and all that a vet visit entails, I decided to try a vet that would come to the house. After several recommendations, we met our new vet. It went really well, and I couldn't be happier with how they handled Sunny, and he immediately liked the mobile vet, which spoke volumes.
~Sunny likes the new-vet more than the camera~
Since the vet was here, I decided to have George seen as well.  When George arrived here in April, because of his being overweight, he struggled on the few stairs and to get up. With daily walks, changing his diet, I've had high hopes that George was slimming down -- Because he looked to me like he was.  He seems happier, and he's up and around much more than he was.

So, of course I was anxious to put George onto the scale and feel that proud moment as his owner that he's lost weight.  According to their scales, he's lost two pounds.  Proud moment gone.  But George was happy and relaxed during the entire exam, and let "mobile vet" do a pedicure. I guess that's what really matters.
~George, still happy afterwards~
Todd thinks that what really matters is that he didn't have to be seen.

  1. Hello Kim, the mobile vet sounds like a great choice for Sunny. I guess George needs to slim down a little more. I always love seeing your cute doggies. Have a happy Labor Day weekend!

  2. Remember - muscle weighs more than fat! Maybe George lost weight and gained muscle?

  4. Not all scales are calibrated the same so maybe George has lost more than the 2 pounds shown. AND...lets face it, that's a WHOLE bag of sugar, its an awesome start, best not to lose it too quickly

  6. You mean I don't have to fly to the vet and the vet comes here? Ptoooey, I'd fly the other way when I see him coming.

  7. I never begrudge pet owners if another vet is more convenient or even if someone else's personality just meshes better with theirs, the most important thing is that the pet gets the best care, whatever that means. :)

  9. Sounds like the perfect solution! I'm so glad the visit went well. That's what counts. Only two pounds? Sigh ... I would be happy with two pounds. George's coat is so lovely and healthy looking. Nice seeing some of the gang - and looking so nice!

  14. A mobile vet -. that's a brilliant idea. So strange that Sunny is camera shy - most Goldens love having their photo taken !
George really does look very pleased with himself - must be those two pounds he's shed. Wish I had the willpower to do the same !!

  15. I've been having a mobile vet come and see Ruby because she is so frail. I think it's wonderful - and Ruby doesn't know that she's been to the vet!! The vet says she feels like she gets a much better sense of what's going on with the pets she treats because they're not all stressed out by "going to the office." Last time she was here, Otto came in and sat on her lap!! We love Dr. Ann!

  18. Good idea with a vet that visits your home for Sunny...anything that will make examinations easier for him.

  19. Mobile vets are great especially for the older pets or like you said ones that just don't do well on car rides. Glad your first visit went so well.

  20. You are blessed to have access to a vet that comes to your house. And more than one to choose from!
How wonderful that all went well.
Scales can be wrong. But even a few pounds can obviously make a difference; and that's what's important.
Hope you all have a blessed weekend, Kim. ♥

  25. Neither one of my girls does good going to the vet...even though it is not far...it is SO stressful!! Perhaps I should look in to a mobile vet. I know the mobile groomers are very expensive. I have never researched a mobile vet though. Food for thought. So glad that your two had such a positive experience! Awesome!!

  27. A mobile vet sounds like a great alternative for dogs who hate going to the vet. I see Sunny is camera shy as always. :)
