From Black to White

Thanks for your thoughts about the ring in my last post.  I have checked with everyone that has been a guest at our home and it doesn't belong to any of them and they are as clueless about it as I am. One friend suggested that cosmic forces were to blame, while another taking a more earthy approach thinks that the dogs could have somehow tracked it inside. For now, the story of how the ring came to be on the floor in my hallway remains a mystery.
It's been a busy day for us.  It began with an early morning vet appointment for Dusty to just recheck the tumor on his leg, and refill his medications.
The trip was combined with giving our foster cat "Apple" to her new family, who are so excited to add her to their two-cat household.
I was home for nearly an hour when a text came from the cat-rescue... Despite my telling them that I wouldn't be able to take another cat, SHE asked if I would please consider it.  SHE  did say please...  So about an hour later, we were welcoming "Flurry" to Golden Pines.
Flurry and his brother "Blizzard" (very un-original names for two white cats don't you think?) are both about 4 months old, and with several other cats were rescued from a hoarding situation. Both little boys were pretty sick, and now that they're feeling better they need to learn that people are a "good thing."  The brothers have been separated in hopes of their finding their own self confidence and that they can trust people.
So, we've gone from a black kitten to a white one.  But no matter what color the kitten might be, Charlie is of course pretty happy about it and Todd at the moment doesn't know quite what to think. But I know that's only temporary.

  1. Black to white in an hour, doing good there! Pretty boys! You have built-in babysitters for them, bet Charlie was happy.
That is a puzzlement about the wedding band, nice little thing. No date or inscription? Of course, my mind wanders now - maybe one of the dogs pulled it off a murder victim in a shallow grave at the edge of your property, or some woman, unhappy with her husband threw the ring out of the car window as she drove by or...

  8. Do you have wooden floors or ceilings, that maybe the ring fell through a gap? I would suggest you write a story, " The forgotten wedding Ring" or " Look what one of the family found ", with the opening lines " They all lined up at the doorway saying. " It wasn't me, or me, or me" Love the new Flurry, he looks very contented, and goodness knows how many cats or kittens were in the same place. Hope Blizzard is as well cared for as Flurry, he will have lots of adoring Goldens to boost his morale. You are so generous.

  9. Wonder what Todd is saying to Charlie in the last photo?
Perhaps the ring somehow got attached to one of the dogs fur, outdoors, and dropped off in the hallway. How infuriating if it forever remains a mystery !

  10. That is very strange that the just appeared in your house! We had a story like that on the local news here and someone actually contacted the station and got their ring back! It had an identifying mark on it, but for the life of me, I cannot remember how it got lost! I sure hope you figure it out! Your new kitty is very pretty...and your dogs must love having a new one to "train"! BOL! You are so generous Kim...a big heart! Wishing you well in teaching the new kitty...

  19. Some folk are lucky and get a 'recycled' ring. Others just get recycled kibbles !

  21. The ring is beautiful! I hope it fits you if no one claims it. All the pups and cats are looking very relaxed and happy...Golden Pines has that effect on critters.

  26. Here's hoping that Flurry adapts to his new environment quickly, he looks like a pretty easygoing little fella, so hopefully he will be ready to find a furrever home that will shower him with love!
