We're Okay

A four-day weekend comes to an end with some much needed rain, and feeling all rested up.
~Jake cooling off~
Good friends camping in nearby Harpers Ferry invited us over for dinner one evening.  After dinner, despite the warm temperatures, we all enjoyed sitting around a small campfire and eating a few s'mores --It has been years since I made and had one. They are as good as I remember.
The dogs are all in good spirits.  The 'doodle, Max, is not just a cute face, he's actually quite a character that makes great sport out of chasing the cats.
~'Doodle Max~
Our newest arrival, Diezel is also doing well.  He's all settled in and knows the routine and his way around the yard and the house.  He's a really nice dog that has bonded with Carl. He is so happy when he comes home, and follows him everywhere, and barks when he can't find him.
~Deizel and George~
Deizel is not totally blind because he seems to be able to see some things when the light is bright. Lab Rescue has approved a visit for him to see a Veterinary Opthamologist, so I'll set that up this week.
Sheba's loss will take a little time to get over. Thank-you all for your kind and comforting words, and for sharing her loss with us.
I think we're going to be okay.

  6. I love that Deizel loves Carl so much! I'd love to see him barking for him! I usually read your blog from my email when they arrive, so I'm unable to comment directly on here, but today I decided to come "straight to the source," so I'm able to say hello! I love you, Kimmie! We must do lunch one of these days! Eileen

  9. I know it's always hard at first, but yes, you will all be okay. Deizel seeing an ophthalmologist ... what can they do? He sure looks to be a sweetie.
So Max likes the kitties - have they taught him a lesson yet?

  13. It takes time, but Sheba would want you all to be OK. Nice to hear the news on Diezel still having some sight. That will give him some time to adjust to his new environment in the event he loses more sight. Thanks to you for all you do.

  17. I love that 'doodle Max. Looks like a Disney dog. I've always loved the idea of s'mores more than the actual eating of them. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there is something to improve Diezel's vision?

    its okay.,
    but
I want you all to be okay., So much happens at Golden Pines,, and my words seem so inadequate,, because I wish,,,, I could fix all this sadness but I cant.

Its very interesting to hear about Deizel,,, and how he gets around,,,following the other dogs, and waiting for Carl. That is beautiful.
And I am glad you got to sit around a campfire with friends, and have smores..

  28. I just learned about Sheba and I am so sorry for your loss. She was one of the old dogs that I remember for years of following your blog and I feel sad that she is gone. But it was comforting for me to read that she was happy on her last day and wanted to play with you. So sweet, such a lovely smile she had. Take care.

  29. Hi Kim, I just read about Sheba's passing. I know how much it hurts to lose a special dog. She had a good life with you and was happy. It doesn't make it any easier for you though. RIP Sheba.
