A week since my last post. And, I am humbled by your kindness and support in the loss of Teddy. I know he was only with us for two weeks, but his loss really affected me. And your words soothed the sting of his loss, and helped me to feel understood in my grief. While we might not know each other personally I feel we know one another's soul - the soul that knows how it feels to lose a dog, even a "lost boy" like Teddy.

I've felt the need this past week to take a break to recharge my batteries and recover a bit of brain space….. When you feel this way, there's nothing like spending quiet and reflective time with your dogs to help get things back into perspective. This morning as the sun was coming up, I sat with Cissy and we watched the first light of the day appear from the back porch.
Directly overhead flew a flock of geese and the sound of their feathered wings beating in rhythm filled the air. It was almost musical. I inhaled deeply, took in the moment, and felt my breath for the first time in more than a week.

Cissy and I sat there together until it was time to get the day started. This little break has been a good thing. I'm glad to be back, and I really look forward to catching up on what I've missed.

You sound much better. Glad you got more juice!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures!
Keep moving forward.
ReplyDeletesometimes all we need is to be alone with a loved one, a human person, a much loved dog or a cat that purrs by your side.Their love permeates right through.Your words say so much, and I'm sure we all understand.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear that you have taken time for yourself, Kim, it's most important. The look of pure Joy on Eva's beautiful little face says just how much she loves you.
ReplyDeleteQuiet time with nature can be so soothing. What a sweet face that Eva has!!!

I really liked the description you gave of the geese wings. It's spot on. Here lately a group of geese have been flying over our place and we love listening to them as the fly over. Eva looks very happy with having her photo taken. I see Todd had more important things to do than have his picture taken. He's such a serious little man.
ReplyDeleteAroo to you,
Sully
the kind of post that makes living worthwhile.
ReplyDeletei'm glad you found rest and refreshment from a little break.
it's so important. and the natural world is the best source. everything is better with a dog by our side.
eva is in a whole new world! she hardly knows what to think. can you imagine... awaking to know another day ... and you're HAPPY!!! bless her.
love to that dearest girl...
and to all in your home. and most of all to you. XOXO♥
We think that early morning is the BEST time of day. Great for getting you started for the day.
ReplyDeleteIt feels good, doesn't it? No snow in your neck of the woods?
ReplyDeleteYes, time spent with your dog(s) is the best balm when you are troubled. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteHello, I can understand the need to recharge. Love the images and sky shot. I always love your sweet dogs. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI came back here last week and read about Teddy. Then I read all your other posts back to November when I stopped bloggig. And I can't forget about Teddy and how he connected with you and how devastating it was to lose him so soon. Then I thought of this old dog, out in the cold in someone's yard. How he could have died right there. Or at the shelter in a difficult and unknown space with dogs around he didn't know. Then I thought how he came to you. How you gave him toys and covered him with a blanket so he could stay warm. Teddy felt at peace, I think. He was warm, he felt the love as dogs always do and he didn't mind it was his time to leave. I'm sorry to leave this comment so late, but I just had to think about him for a while.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss of Teddy . The days he spent with you were the best days of his life and he left this world with dignity and love because of you both and your kind loving clan . Lovely photos and thanks for sharing . Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteI think the lost boys are one of the most touching, because they have been lost by someone who did not care for them properly and due to age and usually health issues. Our sensibilities are stung, because this is not how they should be treated. We were given the command to take care of animals by our creator. How dare anyone neglect or mistreat those sweet souls.
ReplyDeleteI had an instinct that you would fall for Teddy hard, for two weeks or two years, our hearts don't know the difference when we love.
I loved your description of Cissy and your time together. How is Cissy doing? She has been a member of Golden Pines for a while now. How wonderful!
So glad you have had a chance to recharge. You definitely need those moments as often as you can get them.

We never, ever do enough for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteHappy you took time, space and regrouped . . .
Amazing you are!
Yay for the recharging!
I understand Kim. and sometimes its just important to take care of yourself too,,, and just be still, and quiet,, and time to just be,,, and take yourself mentally and physically away from the buzzing around in your head,, because you need time to heal,
