Eva's Angel Watch Begins

It has been a busy week, full of vet appointments for the dogs and the cats too.

Tonight just as it has been the last several days, we are focused solely on our beautiful Eva.  Her appetite is practically non-existent, she's hardly eaten since Saturday, and the last two days, nothing at all. I've tried everything I can think of. Eva has become very quiet, not moving around much, sleeping soundly most of the time. She'll wake and wag her tail when one of the other dogs come near her, or we talk to her or sit with her. Eva is (thankfully) in no pain. Getting her to go outside is meant with protests, but she reluctantly does as we ask of her.

The TV has been off all evening, the lights are low. and it's very quiet and peaceful as Eva sleeps nearby. There is an ache and sadness in my heart and soul.  Eva's journey is coming to an end, as her Angel Watch has begun.

  7. Breaks my heart to know . . .
    Thinking of Eva, and you . . . and caring . . .

Our Snickers has changed considerably in these past weeks months .
Hearing has vanished, her sight is altered, sleeps 90% of the time.
She still loves to eat though and our vet reassures
that she is not in any pain, heart still sounds strong.
She turned 13 earlier this month.

Sorry to go on and on about her when you
    are experiencing Eva’s last days.
My heart aches for you . . .
    Love and Hugs!!

  10. The painful privilege of being there as a family companion heads off on a journey. Her trust in you ( and all the others at Golden Pines who've run ahead ) is what makes the universe sing.

  19. How wonderful Eva's last months have been with you and the gang to cheer her on. Now, you and the dogs are still there, keeping her company in the tranquil and calm surroundings you've provided for her. We should all be so loved and so lucky.

    Peace be with you. Hugs!

  20. Kim,
My heart is with you and Eva and all the sweet souls at golden pines. Eva knows she is loved and continues to give it back through her tail wags. She is a fine lady and a true testament of the wonderful golden spirit.
I choose to remember her in one of her first pictures that you shared with us playing, with her tail held high. She was so happy to be surrounded by so much love as is reflected in her sweet face even now.
    Warm hugs,
    Gus' Mom
