Summer storms are nothing unusual, especially this time of the year. The one we had on Wednesday afternoon wasn't too bad as far as storms go. It passed through pretty quickly and the skies began to clear. Then, for a still unknown reason, our power went out.
It was a mostly sleepless night. I kept waking up for reasons ranging from thinking I heard a dog barking outside, (there wasn't), the power coming back on (it hadn't) and to let Gino back into the garage, (because he was meowing to be let out). We were up early sitting on our front porch as the day began.
Sometimes it's nice just to sit and listen as the world around you wakes up.
But life has a way of creeping back in and I had to think about getting ready for work. Thinking through how we were going to manage 3 of us getting ready for work, with no power, little sleep, and a limited amount of water made for a bit of a challenge.
Thankfully our power was restored around 11 o'clock, and the regular programming of life resumed.
But last evening, we were all in bed by 9 o'clock.
One of the reasons we got a gas powered generator converter which would run everything from computers to the AC because storms of all kinds would pass through and we would loose power but as usual Murphy's law as soon as we got it the hydro company trimmed all trees hanging over the wires and we haven't had a power cut yet in the storms . I love to wake up early before the sunrise this time of year and just to sit on my patio and listen as watch the land and wildlife around me as it all wakes up ☺. Glad your power came on . Hope you get some rest and have a good weekend .
ReplyDeleteThankfully, except for a few quick pops, we have not lost power this year. We have had many weather alarms go off and it has been an interesting summer. Flooding is our biggest problem. A lake appeared in our yard yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe sometimes get power outages for no apparent reason. (All our local power lines are underground) Usually it's because of some construction, or an accident somewhere. Having a gas powered generator is a great thing!
ReplyDeleteOoh, no power sometimes forces you to just enjoy the quiet, and vegetate :)
ReplyDeleteAll looks well there on the farm, I've been lax in my blog visiting lately, hope you are all staying well.
Hugs,

Nobody cares these days, cell phones run on battery power.
ReplyDeleteHaving the power go out is never any fun. We are keeping our paws crossed that the power stays on here as we are having some super hot days.
ReplyDeleteHope your little wrens are okay.... It's amazing how we rely on power. It's something we don't really think about until it's off!
ReplyDeletePower outages don't have to be very long to disrupt life as we like it. We just keep our paws crossed that we keep our paw with this awful heat wave.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Oooh, I never like power outages. I'm glad that it didn't last any longer than that... but that was enough, wasn't it? I'm glad that the pups don't mind when the power is out!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello, I am glad your power was not off for too long. Luckily our power stayed on. We did have the storm. I love all the furbaby photos. Stay and enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI always love your pictures with the posts. but today I LOVED every one of them.
ReplyDeleteI'll be so glad when you can just stay home or only work when YOU want to! sending love and hugs. xo
We are having daily afternoon thunderstorms but we need not worry about power. We have a huge generator that will run the whole house. We built our house just after the three hurricanes rained down on western NC and power was out for quite a while. We have never regretted the purchase. Hope your weather wasn't too hot during the outage.
ReplyDeletePower outages are no fun especially when you have to get ready to go to work. We had an outage once when I was in the shower with shampoo in my hair. Since we are on a well there was no rinsing off!

Power outages are hard. You realize how reliant we are on it. We are thankful for our generator so at least we can get water.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim :) I just discovered your blog. Your dogs are so sweet!! We have three dogs and three cats and one day I'd love to have MANY MANY more rescue dogs! We have power outages when it's sunny out - go figure...and then during violent storms, power stays on! The worst is having no running water isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIsnt it wonderful when things get back to normal?

Hope the humidity isn't getting to you and the pack !
ReplyDeleteGlad to find your blog. Happy Monday
ReplyDeletePower outages are so disruptive! Luke freaks out when the power goes out and then again when it comes back on, so that doesn't help. Disruptions to routine are hard on everyone, aren't they?
