Weekend in Picture Review

We had a nice quiet weekend!! I really needed some down-time and wanted to spend time with the dogs before the week goes into high gear. We didn't do too much.
Carl mowed the grass...
I tended my dying flowers, however I'll leave these cone flowers for the birds to enjoy.
The dogs watched from the porch.
(Hamlet on the left New/Old Sam on the right) But unknown to the dogs, something else was watching from the porch too--Do you see it?
I am quite sure this Praying Mantis saw me--It looks like its smiling, doesn't it?
That ended working on my flowers. So we went for a walk. I'd much rather see this Swallowtail butterfly!
We walked up to the top of the hill in back of our property. It really has a nice view of the Short Hill Mountains.
Sheba and Rudi love going to the top of the hill too--It usually means some new smell for them to roll in! Even Hamlet made the walk. He never looks like he's out of breath. On the way back down the hill, I did see a "fatality" that was caused by one of our dogs--I've no idea how it got there or how long it had been there (Yes, it's a stuffed squirrel minus its head). After church today I took Bubba swimming. If you've not seen it, below this post there is a 40 second video of him.
When I got back the other dogs and I played a round of frisbee. It doesn't take much to wear them out. (Sheba top, Josh second picture)

Afterwards we sat on the porch, relaxed and watched the sun go down. It was a nice way to end the weekend. I hope you've had a good weekend too!! (Josh)

  1. Thank you for the wonderful slice of life from Golden Pines. All the dogs look so happy and content. I took some time and viewed your slide show. Wish I knew the story behind every one of your critters. Have a wonderful week. Next weekend is a 3 dayer, so there will be plenty of quality dog time for all. Bubba looks good in the water. I think he enjoys it.

  2. That looks like an idyllic weekend!

That mantis was watching you! They look like little aliens when they turn their head to watch what you are up to. I think they are cute as a bug, Ha ha.

The kids all look so content! I hope you and Carl did too!

  5. Hello Kim...nice to 'meet' you! I LOVE Golden Retrievers...I had a beautiful boy named Buddy who was the sweetest dog I have EVER had. He was so easy to train and eventually got him to work with hand signals. Unfortunately when I moved to Kansas I had to give him away. He went to a great home to an owner who own's a coffee shop and to this day Buddy is still the 'greeter' there. I love your photo's! Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog...I hope to see you again. Take care...Maura :)

  6. Wow, looks like you had a nice weekend. LOVE the picture of the P. Mantis smiling! Hilarious!
I had a pretty peacefull weekend. No emergency vet visits, Simba was doing ok.. I am, however, not looking forward to this week. I've got Sunday Blues! I guess I am afraid that with all the busyness of this week Simba will get sick and end up in the vet, or sick or something and cause me even more stress. I am very thankful that his food transition is going well. He is 50/50 and no diarrhea (so far...KNOCK ON WOOD). I am expecting some, but I am so happy and blessed to have made it halfway with no problems yet.

I hope Sam is doing well with you! Has his tail wagged yet? :-)

What is the age of your youngest Golden at your house right now?

    Talk to you soon,

    Paige

  12. Good Monday morning Kim :)
It sounds like a wonderful weekend!! So relaxing. Let me just say it again---your property is so lovely!! That view is amazing and all those little views of nature are so beautiful. I too have been wanting to get to my fading flowers but I just can't bring myself to cut the cone flowers. We have the most beautiful little yellow birds who love to eat their seeds. I love to watch them fly from flower to flower. Just the other day I had a Praying Mantis in my garden. He was just hanging out on the Butterfly Bush. I rustled the leaves a bit and he turned to look at me. They give me the shivers but I also think they are the most incredible insect. Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures of nature and your sweet "puppies" I hope your week is a GREAT one.
    xoxo

  13. It looks so pretty there. I've always enjoyed the NC/VA mountains. I wouldn't want that much snow, though. I enjoy it for a spell, but after a few days, I'm ready for summer again.

  20. Hi Kim
Sometimes it seems that we get consumed into our work life and get off the path of what feels good.
To me, that path is visiting Goleden Pines.
All your photos are so beautiful and peaceful looking.
I cannot imagine how you even got that butterfly photo.
Bubba is so beautiful swimming, and we smiled at the dogs romping and playing and rolling.
What a peaceful feeling it is to visit Golden Pines
