You all know that in the midst of all our dogs, we have a cat named CC who is about 9 years old. We found her when she was about 6 months old in a Wal-Mart parking lot. She has grown up with the dogs, and as a result, she has become a very dog-savvy cat! All of the dogs are respectful of her and consider her part of the pack--Except our boy Sam...He is relentless at times chasing and harassing her. Sam has never hurt CC and I know she can take care of herself--CC has not been declawed and has scratched Sam's nose more than once--Nevertheless, because of her size compared to Sam's, he has gotten into trouble more times than I can count because of he just can't seem to leave her alone. But even our scolding doesn't stop him, when Sam sees her, he usually chases her. With that said, last night I saw something that makes me think it all may be nothing more than a game between them...What do you think?
That really made me smile! Yes, looks like it's all a game they're playing. So sweet.

I have always had both dogs and cats together and I have found the same thing is true. There's always a couple of mischief makers in the pack. I think it is all a game they play that's kind of like "King of the Mountain"!
ReplyDeleteThat picture tells the story, they are part of a wonderful family and they know it...:)
Have a great day Kim!

Awe, this is way too cute! Well it looks like Sam finally caught CC, but he just wanted to be friends after all > lol. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a truce going on here...their eyes are closed, but their noses still work so they're aware of each other's presence. If Sam had really wanted to hurt her, he could have done it many times.
ReplyDeleteLiz
Looks like a couple of good buddies right there!
ReplyDeleteSam
Haha ~ that's adorable! Well perhaps they have finally called a truce or perhaps it really was all in fun. Well either way it's fantastic to see them cuddling ~ very sweet!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Kim!

LOL! They fooled Ya!
ReplyDeleteThat's sweet!
Have a good day!
Oh that warms my heart!!! How wonderful!!! SOOOO sweet!!!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm! You just never know when a friendship will develop, do you? They look pretty cosy to me.
ReplyDeleteOur cats, too, are very used to the dogs -- but Buck is like Sam -- he'll make the move to chase them, but after a quick "hey!" from me, he stops immediately.
ReplyDeleteThat predator impulse is never something you can't completely train out of a dog who is wanting to chase -- but like Sam, sometimes they just let sleeping cats lie. :)
Unbelievable, Kim! Guess this is proof that Sam is all talk and no action! What a rascal.
ReplyDeleteThey just called a temporary truce to take a nap. Naps are like a white flag, they are universally recognised as a time to relax and prepare for another go around.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe they are just publicity hounds (and cats) and they posed for a photo shoot.
Mogley G. Retriever
I do believe that they are pals.
ReplyDeleteIf that doesn't give us all hope about the state of the world, I don't know what will! Good for Sam for letting CC be, and good for CC for forgiving the past in the interests of a good snuggle!
ReplyDeleteYup, probably a game...Actually, most definitely a game :o) I know that when my two cats play, the mama cat, Quinn, kicks up a huff and hisses and growls and her baby, but it's all fun and games :o) Anyhow, critters who really can't stand each other do not curl up and sleep together lol
ReplyDeleteLady is like Sam; no clue how to act around a cat. Do I chase cat, pick up cat, lay on cat? And why does cat keep clawing me? Ouch that hurts! Ooo, another cat....rinse, repeat.
ReplyDeleteIf its a game, then it must be half-time (in the picture).
I'd say it's love.
ReplyDeleteyup ! it`s a game alright !don`t they look sweet together !
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a game! They sure look content in this pic.
ReplyDeleteYes, a game between friends.
ReplyDeleteThey obviously love and respect each other very much, and now 'truce' time ;0
So sweet.
They've definately got the measure of each other! I notice one eye is open...just incase.
ReplyDeleteKim, so cute! Guess they were having a time out! I often wonder what Sophie would do with a cat around the house. I would love to get one but am hesitant because Sophie goes berserk when she sees a cat.

Khyra says 'be khareful Sam - it's a trap'!
ReplyDeletethat's true love!

I think that is one of the sweetest pictures I've seen in quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI think that is one of the sweetest pictures I've seen in quite a while.
ReplyDeleteDefinetly friends! I think deep down inside, CC loves Sam and Sam loves CC!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like my house! Both Bella and Sable like to chase (or pounce on!) the cats. I scold them for it all the time but the game goes on. I've never seen them hurt a cat but they sure act tough. Yet, when they're in the house, they all lay snuggled together ~ where ever they decide to lay!
ReplyDeleteOur two kittens will sleep with Phoebe and Gucci too. A very sweet photo...they must trust each other to do that.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever noticed how animals forgive each other if one steps on the others tail, or gets too pushy?
ReplyDeleteI think these two are pals. And the reason I think so, is because all of our cats pick on me. They attack, and chase me. The cats are always in trouble ,,, but the real story is,, they are just playing..
I think Sam and CC just play a little too hard. I wonder who starts the game?
We are having the best time lookig at all the beautiful photos on your side bar. All the doggys past and present are so soulful.
We are looking at the love in their eyes.
Your boggy at Golden Pines in so welcoming.

Too sweet!
ReplyDeleteYep, I think you are right!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, that photo made me smile!
ReplyDeleteWe've had relentless cat chasers in our family over the years. So, when K was a pup, we "borrowed" a cat to live with us for 2 months. She learned to be friends with cats.
For some reason that eludes me, we "forgot" about cat training with our younger dog R. Now, we're scared that he might hurt a cat someday. I cannot imagine him ever lying on a bed next to a cat like in your beautiful photo!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteLooks like friends in this picture.
They seem to be doing ok.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Homer
shhhhhhh... this is how I feel, too. please not to tell any body.
ReplyDeleteplease.
