In the last couple of weeks, I've been given an award for my blog and I thought that today, since it is my 200th post, (YAY!!) I would acknowledge it and thank the two bloggers who gave it to me--I hope you'll take a moment and stop by their blogs and get to know them. The first time I was given the award it came from Sue, at The Portuguese Water Blog. I love reading about her crew, their antics and their zest for life! Behind the scenes, I've appreciated Sue's e-mails of friendship and advice. The second time the award came it was from Victoria, at Beauty in the Ordinary I am a new follower to this blog, and have enjoyed how two sisters, separated by geography, have taken the ordinary to a level of extraordinary! I hope you'll take a moment and visit these blogs. ~Thank-you ladies for thinking of me when you handed out this award!! I really appreciate your friendship and have enjoyed following your blogs!~
The rules of the award are that I'm to tell you 7 things about myself that you may not know, and pass it on. I'll tell you my 'seven things' but I'm going to break the rule and not pass it onto any of you in particular--This is because I know some of you are suffering from 'blog-writers-block' so (please) take this award and use it for your next post until your inspiration returns!
Here goes my seven things you may not know about me...
1. You may not know...that dogs were not my favorite animal growing up, cats were. We always had a family dog, but our cats were what I adored and couldn't get enough of.
~My brother John and I--I was about 5 years old~ |
3. You may not know...that I collect rocks...My Mom used to paint them.
4. You may not know...that I am six-feet tall.
5. You may not know...that I have never been to Disney World. My sister-in-law has worked for Disney for more than 30 years, and I could get in for free and have a place to stay, but I've never gone.
6. You may not know...that I love secrets. However since I was a kid, I've had a hard time keeping them, and still do...But I think this is why among my favorite books are the 'Post Secret' books where people create a post card and send in their secrets anonymously--I'll let you in on a secret, on an impulse, I did this, and mine was published in the last book.
7. You may not know...that I really enjoy being with friends, but my favorite place to be is at home--I'll bet you already knew that!
There's no snow in sight for us in Virginia, just more hand-freezing temperatures! If it's cold where you are, I hope you're doing what my cat CC is doing and staying warm!
Or, if you are enjoying your warm weather, send some in this direction, okay?
200 posts? That more than I can count on four paws.
ReplyDeleteDon't be embarrassed about once liking cats better than dogs, it proves that everyone was young and foolish once! You overcame your handicap and now you can enjoy a rich life with dogs! You are an inspiration to all of the "dog challenged" people out there in the world.
Congratulations on 200, keep up the good work. Here in Denver, we are enjoying 45 degree weather, but another snow storm is due in tonight, but just a little one....

WOW!!!! 6ft tall?!! I'm only 5ft4 & just as wide! xxx
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!! 6ft tall?!! I'm only 5ft4 & just as wide! xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the painted rocks...they are wonderfully done!!
ReplyDeleteYou may want to re-think the Disney thing...it is a wickedly awesome place! But I so admire the contentment for staying home too...I love BOTH places!! lol
I love Beauty in the Ordinary too and have been following that blog for a while. Now it will be fun to get to know you too.
Congrats on the award!!!
Congrats on your 200th post and the award - I loved your 7 facts (and as a fellow unofficial OCD sufferer I'm with you on the check/rechecking of posts!).
ReplyDeleteCC has totally got the right idea!
x
Hello Kim!
ReplyDeleteA rock collector? NO! WOW!
6' tall, um, I would fit under your chin, maybe...
I did have a feeling that you were pretty fond of cats :-)
I know that you love to be home, don't we all?
Cute picture of you and John!
Musical too - I did learn a lot about you!
Have a nice day!
Congrats on the award - and on the 200th post! Love reading more about the humans behind the blog and didn't know most things about you, except that you love to hang out at home (it's so lovely - I'd agree!!!). I've never been to Disneyland or World, but wanted so badly to go as a kid. (Since we grew up in CT, that was a long trip then!). Have a wonderful weekend, Kim!

Congratulations on your award and your 200th post! Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on hitting #200. I'll bet you never thought you had so much to say, did you? We hit 500 last year and it still amazes me.
ReplyDeleteWe're very cold here, but happily we also have a little snow. It keeps them cleaner than laying in mud.
Sue
I loved reading all those things about you Kim and no I wouldn't have guessed any of them..:)
ReplyDeleteLucky you to be so tall, I always wanted to be able to reach things without a stool! And to not have to hem anymore pants..wow!
Cold, you want cold? It's going to be -19 tonight here and I will be doing exactly what CC is doing.
Have a great evening and congratulations on the 200th post and the award!
Tina xo
A wonderful post - 6' tall , you must be Swedish - and a well deserved reward.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on both your 200th post and your award. That award is richly deserved.
ReplyDeleteAnd, please, go to Disney World. It is the most wonderful place, especially the Animal Kingdom. You can spend your whole vacation there.
Congratulations on 200 posts! Now you have me wondering which secret in the last edition of Post Secrets is yours! I guess I'll never know, but I've enjoyed learning seven new things about you.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog today through the lovely ladies at Beauty in the Ordinary. As I scrolled through your posts and saw pictures of your old doggies, I started crying. I had an old rescue Golden when I was growing up, named Rocky. He was the happiest, most loyal, kingly dog I've ever ever EVER had. I miss him just about everyday. He passed away of old age when I was 21. That was a sad day when he didn't come running to my car door that day :( I loved how he would sit staring into a sunset looking so regal, then I'd call him to me and get so goofy and lovey...two perfect traits, if you ask me. Anyway, you've gotten me all misty today and I'm SO GRATEFUL that someone has dedicated their lives to caretaking of them magnificent dogs :) THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, First I'd like to send you some sunshine, because Lady and I just rolled into Phoenix! I'll be posting some travel pix soon. I knew you were 6ft tall (can't remember why I know that). As far as cats: it is fortunate for all those great dogs you have that you finally came to your senses......BOL (Lady made me write that)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 200th post! It's so fun to read more about people when these awards are given! Fun fun fun! Ok, so it's decided, you NEED to go to Disney World!!!!! Man, what I would do to go there for free and stay there for free!!
ReplyDeleteI am alot like you because I do love being out and around company, but I would much rather be at home!!
Have a great weekend,
Paige & Simba
A well-deserved pat on the back for your 200th post, that's a lot of yakking :)
ReplyDeleteOnly kidding Kim !
I was surprised by a few of your admissions, one being you are 6ft tall, I am 5'4" and was one of the taller girls in a class of twenty students.
No surprise about the cats, I think you are an animal lover period.
Disney World, never been either, maybe someday, but would honestly rather stay in the mountains in a log cabin.
I did this little meme in early Summer, it's a fun way to learn more about your blogging mates :)
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend !
Hugs,
Jo

Congrats to you, my dear! You are such a great blogger friend, and I always love 'stopping in' to see you and yours! 200 posts. Hmmm. I'm over 550 after less than 10 mos. I have no life... :)
ReplyDeleteI love being home more than anyplace else in the world. And I love dogs, but I love cats too. And horses. And birds. And turtles. Blah blah blah.
6 ft - wow! I've never been to Disney World and really don't desire to go.
You are a treasure to all of us who read you! Congrats and keep 'em coming!!!
Hey Kim! Here's lookin' at cha! I'm 6'1".
ReplyDeleteAren't we all a little OCD? CC has the right idea for sure.
Congrats on 200! Here's to 200 more Kim!
Wow, thanks for sharing with us. 200th post, and I bet it only seems like yesterday that you started your blog. I love the painted stones, did your Mum paint the ones in the picture? Very talented if she did. CC sure has the right idea, she looks nice and snuggly on the vent by the radiator. Enjoy your weekend Kim. Sue x x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this milestone! It has been so nice learning all about you and your crew, and getting to sample a slice of your life via the blog. Your lovely heart just shines through!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you Kim on your 200th post and your awards. Well deserved. 6 feet tall? Wow-I would love to be that tall. Thanks for sharing with us :)
ReplyDeleteAmy :)
Wow - Congratulations Kim! Those were great things to learn about you. I'd never heard of the secret book before...interesting. Despite no snow, have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteStaci
I think you are becoming a dog person, Kim. Beautiful blog...first time here & love it!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteHi dear friend, Loved reading this post-you are simply amazing even with OCD(I have a daughter who has those tendencies as well as a hubby). Love the photos and can't wait to visit the blogs. I'm so thankful for you Kim and love visiting.
ReplyDeleteHugs and sending snow your way.
Noreen
Hey Ms. Kim,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award and on doing your 200th post. It's neat to get to know your 7 secrets. Dad say's that he's not short, just vertically (and folically) challenged. Like you, our dad collects rocks too, but rather than paint them he gives them names. His rocks are named Homer J., Jubal, J.E.B., Sophie, Shelby Belle, Jack Abby, Max, Shiloh, Radar, Patti, Alex, Boru, Jenny and Gracie. Hey, wait a minute dad, that's us. Is there an implication here?
- TBH&K
That was fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing those seven things. I may just try it one day. Although, I'm not sure that I could find seven things about myself that would be interesting...
;-)
I wish I could join CC! I'm sitting here in my fuzzy, red bathrobe and lumberjack hat and my HANDS are cold! Better go make some hot cocoa.
Have a happy weekend my Dear. I'm SO glad that I found your blog and look forward to it every day.
I loved reading everything about *you*!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 200th post and awards! You deserve a gazillion awards for all the good you do in your pup's lives!
xo, misha
p.s. I am 5'11! And I wear a size 10 shoe. oy!
Good job Kim on the 200th beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteSo much beauty you have shared.
We have all gone down the paths of emotions with you. And oh how we look forward to each post.
Congratulations on your Award!
The rocks your mom painted are beautfiful. What a basket of treasures you have. Treasures forever.
I shared a secret with you once. Do you remember? It had to do with bulbs?

Hi Kim :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this post--I loved learning all those fun facts about you. I don't think I would have guessed any of them except for your love of staying home. I must say I can't blame you--a beautiful house, lovely property, and a house full of canine friends. I am right there with ya on that one. :) It is freezing here in Pittsburgh too. As I sit here at my desk writing this Sassy and Mabel are laying on my feet to help keep me warm. I sure love my girls :) Congratulations on 200 posts!!!!
xoxoxo
Mimi
Congratulations on your 200 posts and your award Kim ~ good for you!
ReplyDeleteIt's always so fun getting to know our blog friends better. I collect rocks too ~ but I am sure not any where near 6ft tall!
I would totally take up the chance of the free trip to Disney World though ~ at least once a year! :)
Happy Sunday Kim!
xo Catherine
Congrats on the post count and the award!
ReplyDeleteYay for 200 posts -- and many more, I hope. I so love reading your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI received two of these awards last week, but had a hard time acknowledging them on my blog (I thanked the givers on their own blogs,) because I have a hard time accepting any kind of compliment or recognition. I don't want anyone else to feel like they were left out -- so I didn't go there.
I do think I will post a "7 things" article, because it's fun to learn the obscure things about our favorite bloggers that they wouldn't normally disclose.
For instance, if we ever met in person, I'd come up to your neck. I'm 5'7". :)
Congrats on your award! I will do the 'seven things' post today I think :o)
ReplyDeleteAs for the weather, it is currently -19 Celsius here with a windchill of about -30 and the low tonight IS -30...WITHOUT THE WIND!!! Brr...I have to go out this afternoon and boy, will I ever bundle up!
I hope to see 200 more posts from you. I enjoy them so much.
ReplyDeleteKim, so much fun learning about you...I can relate on the OCD...it can be such a pain at times, yes?
ReplyDeleteIsn't Sue the best?? I haven't visited Beauty in the Ordinary so I'll head over there next!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 200 posts! I loved this post and the new tidbits about you!
And I especially loved the last photo. So cute!! And smart!
Jill
Congrats. 200 posts and a well-deserved award.
ReplyDeleteI've come to conclude that we all have a little OCD in us... but we're not all 6' tall. I'd love to be that tall!!!
The cat photo is too much... what a smart animal soaking up the heat before it escapes to the rest of the room!
CONGRATULATIONS Kim,on your 200th post!
ReplyDeleteThough we aren't able to come by very often(we wish we could) we often think about you and Golden Pines.
Your blogs are always so enjoyable...
Best of luck for many many more beautiful posts :)
Congrats on your 200th post and your award! You lost us dogs at "CATS" but Mom kept reading and loved this post.
ReplyDeleteShe's bit OCD too so can totally relate. She writes multiple drafts of thank-you notes before committing them to an actual notecard! No kidding. Dad thinks she a little, um, crackers.
And she's bit jealous of the 6' thing, being 5'2" more or less. On the other hand, she's closer to us that way!
Thanks for sharing things about you - that secret thing sound intriquing!
The Road Dogs
Well I just learned a whole lot about you from this Kim. I love the picture when you were little with the kitty. Wow, you can get in Disney World free> Lucky you. I'm like you when it comes to my favorite place... there's no place like home.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about you having the flu. I hope you're feeling much better.
nice answers
ReplyDeleteI will have to get mine answered too
