The Circle of Life

I posted this picture on my Facebook page, but thought I would share it here too.  The puppy, named Pork-chop (for now) is one of 11 puppies that were born in the early morning hours of Sunday.  Their Mom, Roxie, came into the rescue about two weeks ago.  All are doing well.

Yesterday a couple of my friends sent their precious Goldens to the Rainbow Bridge.  And to me there's something comforting about seeing the face of a life that is so brand new--It reminds me of the beauty and circle of life.

God speed Lady and Cleo...

  1. The circle of life is what keeps us going. I don't know what I would have done last year when I had to assist Java in his trip to the Bridge had I not had a house full of healthy, squirming puppies.

My thoughts and prayers are with your friends.

  3. That is so incredibly beautiful. Sometimes in the darkness of our grief, we forget about the fragile circle....a light that breaches the sadness of the moment.

    Thanks Kim

  9. Good Morning Kim
What a perfect way to start my day--looking at that precious little golden face.
I took my Mabel girl to the doggie salon yesterday for the first time. She was so excited to go for a ride until she found out where we were going. She shook like a leaf and was not thrilled at all about the how they dried her hair--that hair dryer sure was loud!!! But boy she looks so beautiful now.
Hope your day is a happy one
    xoxo

  11. Kim, this post is a beauty to behold to me as for I had to send one of my dogs over the bridge yesterday. Though extremely saddened by my loss, the beauty of new life lifts my spirit!

  16. So precious!
I don't think that anything can soften the pain at the time of parting but new life definitely gives one hope of feeling joy again ~ some day...

For me, the important thing about that new life is that it symbolizes that something/someone else will need all that love I have to give.

  17. The ONLY thing that makes grieving the loss of a pet any easier for me is having more pets to tend to, to love on, to entertain me, to laugh at. I'm sorry for your friends' losses. But I'm grateful that the lucky Roxie made it to the shelter before giving birth to those tiny little beauties.

  20. I'm not great with words of comfort, it always makes me sad to hear that someone's beloved pet has taken the trip to Rainbow Bridge, but there is always the joy that they no longer suffer the ills of this world and we will see them again.

Adorable little puppy, does look a bit "porky". :-)

  34. So sad, so touching, and finally, such a sweet face, so filled with promise.

I'll never forget - the day that my mom died quite young from cancer, I went to pick up her belongings from the hospital. And, I ran into my best friend's older brother - his wife had just given birth to their first baby. The circle of life couldn't have been more obvious to me than at that moment.

  35. What a lovely picture and yes I so agree with you. One of my editors has a gorgeous 9 month old little girl and that makes me appreciate the circle of life.

  40. We're so sad for your friends. To lose two dogs on the same day is heartbreaking. But we're also happy that the new babies' mama was rescued in time to deliver her babies safely. We're sure Pork Chop and his siblings will gladden many hearts as they find their forever homes - and one for the mama dog, too.

  41. Hi Kim and Pups,
I will try again to see if I can get a comment to you. I have been here before trying.
WE so love our strawberries but so do so many of the critters including the coons. So we don't get to eat all we grow!! We have three pecan trees and we only get about a pint of them a year.
    We love puppies!!!

  44. You have a very nice blog! Thanks so much for doing rescue. I just lost a boxer in Jan that we had adopted from rescue almost 8 years ago, he was 5 at the time, he was a wonderful dog even with his bad start in life.

  45. Hi Kim!!!!!

I haven't had a chance to properly comment and tell you that I've been sneaking over to catch up with your brood. First of all, I'm so glad you put your pretty, pretty picture on the blog. I love it! It's great to literally have a face to go with the name & the stories.

Second, I wanted to tell you that I totally feel your pain regarding your sister. I am the oldest of 4 sisters and my relationship with my 3rd sister is so very, very sad. It's been bitter and estranged, and I cannot find it in me to try and repair it anymore. However, I find myself dragged into the drama every now and then anyway. Usually around the holidays. It leaves me so sad and TIRED at the end of it all. Sheesh.

Your doggies warm my heart, I love that you take the time to share their pictures with us. You're an angel. :-) Godspeed to your friends' doggies. It is never, ever easy to lose a beloved pet.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
