The Tooth Fairy

I thought that when we got a puppy our life would be totally turned upside down.  I'm actually finding that (at least right now) it really isn't.  I can only conclude that our life must be upside down to start with.  Todd does what all puppies do, he gets into everything.  And just when we think that he couldn't get into anything else, he finds something to literally get tangled in.
But you may be able to imagine my concern this afternoon when Todd started whining and opening and closing his mouth.  I thought maybe the cookie I'd just given him had gotten caught in his throat.  But my finger in his mouth felt nothing but had blood on it.  He managed to get away from me and ran out the open back door.  I finally was able to catch him and I had Carl hold him as I looked down his throat...Nothing...
FINALLY my eye caught sight of what it was...
He was losing one of his molars--It was really loose and just barely hanging on, and so I pulled it out.
Mystery solved and Todd did the only thing he could do after that kind of event--
Take a nap!!
I wonder if  he'll be hoping for the tooth fairy to leave something under that stuffed animal?

  3. Hi Kim, I think your dentist should promote you!! You can now pull teeth and I think that should mean something and be deserving of some sort of certificate or something..
That last photo is one of the cutest ones I've seen yet!! Tell Todd I hope the tooth fairy brings lots of treats ;-)

  4. Awwww, he so so cute! I've managed to find one puppy tooth from each of our dogs when they've fallen out. I keep them as treasured momentos of those puppy-crazy days!

    The photos are heart warming.

  5. Oh dear, a lose tooth that doesn't fall out can be painful and alarming, I remember it well! We never had that kind of problem with one of our dogs though and hardly ever found any of their teeth.

  6. Oh poor baby!!! We hope he has lots of teething toys. Mom says freeze some kongs for him too.

  8. Aw, what a good Mom, to pull his tooth and make it possible for him to rest easily. That last picture is just so sweet and peaceful. Every once in a while I wonder what all of your Goldens think of the flurry of activity that is Todd. Which, in a round about sort of way, reminds me, has Charlie ever learned to accept the only other non-Golden in his pack? And you new old girl, does(my stupid brain won't call up her name), is she still Mothering Todd?

  12. Oh Todd, work it dude, work it.

You could have gotten a lot more mileage out of that if you had not let her see it was a tooth.

But your young...there is much to learn about how to worry your family.

Get some rest, there are a whole load of teeth left to fall out.

    love

  17. Of all the teeth Sampson lost, I only got one, and that is because I heard it plink on the floor. I still have it in a little plastic bag.

I hope the tooth fairy is good to Todd!

  18. Oh I remember those days--With both Sassy and Mabel I would find little puppy teeth on the floor. Poor little Todd--what a frightening time. Good thing he had you to make him feel safe again.

  20. Aw! Todd is too cute! I have to admit I saved all of Cooper's puppy teeth...at least the ones I was able to find (or pull!).

What will the tooth fairy leave little Todd?

I am sure he is saying "thanks momma for making my mouth feels better!"
Those photos are too adorable! His little ear stands up even when he is asleep!
And who is Todd sleeping with? Is that little curly headed Carrie Ann?
I had to come back and look at your beautiful butterflys that you always catch in their beauty!

  23. We're sure Todd was grateful for the assisted tooth extraction! The suggestion for frozen chew toys for teething is a pretty good one. Glad to see you back.

  24. What a sweety! You are lucky to find that tooth...I searched and searched for Toby's lost teeth. Eventually, when I was about to give up, I found one. It's become a real treasure. I would bargain heavily witht the tooth fairy to keep it.

  29. I bet you were relieved! No mater how healthy they look on the outside, there's plenty of trouble waiting for a curious pup to mess up their insides. He's such a sweet little guy!

  30. could he get more adorable????
even sleeping, that little pink ear stands up! and i love the watchful eye of the sleek golden beauty next to him.
i had a little cocker puppy, sara, who got tangled up in the cords of the tv and sound system once. after her thrashing about to get out, we had to replace the unit! ahhhh... puppy days. sweet memories.
they have 2 speeds. they're either going and getting into something or they're fast asleep!

  36. Todd is so cute. Whatever he is dreaming of it must be something nice, as even when he is asleep he looks happy and content.

Thank you so much for your comment on my last post. It is nice to hear how other people have handled things, and I appreciate your wise words.

  42. I do believe in fairies, I do, I do!! And that includes the tooth fairy, so I hope she will come by your house and leave something for Todd for being such a good boy about the tooth falling out. I actually still have about 3 or 4 of Cody's baby teeth, ones that fell out on the carpet, and one that we had to pull just like Todd's. I think he was glad to be rid of it. a hug to you and Todd, Debby
