Stay-Cation and Puppy-Doody

When I finally got over the disappointment of not being able to go out of town, our stay-cation become an enjoyable one. Yesterday a friend told me about an estate sale not far from me, so I went to that.  It began at 10 in the morning, and I arrived around noon. I'm guessing that I was a little too late because there really weren't a lot of things left that I could spend my money on.   I did however end up with this.
I'm not sure exactly what 'this' is, but it was only $4, so I knew I had to have it.  As you can see, it's a pretty good size, and weighs about 20 pounds.  It does have a hanger on the back, but I've no idea what to do with it--Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Last evening we met some good friends for dinner at a place I'd been hearing about not far from us.  It's called Patowmack Farm.  It has a stunning view of the Potomac river and bridge at 'Point of Rock' between Virginia & Maryland.
We felt like VIPs with customized menus, and other special unique touches.  The food is amazing and is 'farm to table.'  I had the 'Autumn Blend' as an appetizer, and 'Farm Beef Duo' as my entree.
I cannot remember when I've had a more enjoyable evening out with friends!

Back on the home front, we are STILL on 'puppy-doody' as we look for the reappearance of the cap that went to the water jug.  I'm starting to doubt that Todd actually ate it.  But if it's going to show up, my vet feels like today will be the day.  I wonder if Todd knows that...
It's a new month and a new feel to the weather.  Our day is starting out with cold winds and clouds and some showers.  After a couple of errands, it'll (hopefully) be another quiet day at home, following Todd around.  I hope you have an enjoyable day too!

  2. Good morning Kim! I'm so glad Todd is doing good so far.. Puppies sure can get into a lot of mischief!

This sounds like a great place to eat.. and it's beautiful too. I can remember the first time I went to a restaurant that had just 'numbers' after the entree.. and I wondered what that numbers meant. haha. Then I came to find out it was just for the 'meat' and I had to order a potato and vegetable separate. LOL. I was like... 'what??'

Glad you were able to make lemonade from the lemons (not getting to go on your vacation). Have a great weekend. I'm sure you and Todd will be bonding in a very special way.

  3. It is rainy and chilly here as well. Glad you are enjoying your stay-cation and making the most of it! You capture the best doggie pics!

  4. Mmm, sounds good! Nice to go out to dinner where they don't have menu choices on the wall!

To poop or not to poop. I remember when I bought a parcel of craft supplies. The 'wobble' eyes had broken loose during shipping, static electricity had them ready to fly as soon as I opened the box. Is kind of odd watching for the poo that was watching you.

I do hope all comes out good in the end!

  5. Kim,
It's good to see you making the most of your staycation.

I'm hoping Todd really didn't eat the cap (although it would stink that you cancelled your vacay for nothing

Delilah has eaten more things than I know about (because I find it in the yard!) LOL But I know that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you think, "Oh God! Did she eat THAT?"

Your terra cotta piece is intersting, it reminds me of the stones you set for a walking path in a garden.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and keep us posted on Todds.....er....progress. :-)

  6. I love your photo of Sheba and Todd Kim. What a cheeky little look on Todd...so cute! Great find at the estate sale...how about a spot in the garden where you can plant around it to make it a feature? I was thinking a wall...most of the houses here are brick or stone. I see yours is wood...I am sure it would look lovely tucked in somewhere....

  9. I haven't been to an estate sale or antique store in many years because I have a garage that needs to be cleaned out and my own stuff sold.

I think a staycation can be the best kind. I'm sure you know this, but Todd is the most stinkin' cute dog! I can't get enough of his photos.

  12. I sure would love to go to the restaurant! Glad you made the most of your stay cation. I don't think Todd swallowed that cap! It's just in another room where he dropped it.

  13. Maybe Todd isn't guilty of being a capswallower after all. Wouldn't that be wonderful? I'm glad that you're enjoying your stay-cation. Sometimes those quiet days at home can be the best thing possible. The restaurant sounds like it's worth a repeat visit, or five.

  14. That Angus. What a card!! Actually, your stay-cation sounds very nice! Maybe you could use that estate sale purchase as just a stepping stone in the garden... ??

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  15. A hanger? I would think it looks more like something built into a patio or something. It is definitely unique and interesting though!

I'm glad to hear you had such an enjoyable day. I think stay-cations can work out very well.

  17. That's a lovely piece of art you bought! I think it would look nice hanging on the wall of your covered front porch!

That restaurant you went to looks amazing!!! I'm glad you're enjoying your time at home and I hope that the cap turns up one way or another! But you know, he may have chewed it into so many bits and pieces that you'll never see it again...

  18. You are so funny! Just couldn't go to that estate sale and not buy something, could you?

    ;-)

Some day, I hope to come visit you. When I do, could we please go to that restaurant?

Todd's looking GREAT! I hope your vacation was only postponed and that you end up getting TWO wonderful weekends out of his shenanigans!

  21. Hi Kim,

I hope you find the cap somewhere and you can reschedule your vacation. Todd probably doesn't know what all the fuss is about. If the cap hasn't appeared by now, and food is passing through him hopefully all is well.

I caught my puppy Enzo chewing on some green plastic garden mesh that was attached to our fence for climbing plants. Riley had never shown any interest in it in four plus years. All plastic mesh still on the fences was quickly removed by me, but I noticed a section of it (more than the chewed bits I got out of Enzo's mouth) was missing so I rushed Enzo to the vets (who decided not to make Enzo ill as the sharp edges of the grid might damage his throat which is more delicate than the stomach, etc) and for us to watch Enzo for any signs of blockage, but hopefully let things pass through naturally. They did in lots of broken and chewed pieces (including a 5 inch by 2 inch piece with sharp spikes) over about ten days. However after many days of putting my glasses on and closely inspecting everything that came out of Enzo I noticed he had a partner in crime that I hadn't even considered, as Riley was also producing bits of green plastic!

    Enjoy your good weekend.

  22. Got my fingers crossed that Todd will be OK! Amazing though what dogs can eat....and get away with it.
OK, I just ate and then I saw THAT MENU!!! I am hungry again! But I know what I would order...just what you did!

  23. i feel like little todd would surely be having some kind of symptoms of distress by now if he really did eat it! let's keep hoping and praying for the best.
sometimes it's even better when plans go awry. and it sounds like you're having a wonderful time.
    bless you kim.

  26. When you have "kids," you gotta be flexible. You know that better than anyone. I have a feeling Todd didn't swallow the cap -- just a gut feeling. lol. But so sweet of you to be so concerned about the little guy.

The terra cotta thing -- I'd hang it on your house or on a shed, if you have one.

Have a lovely weekend, Kim. :)

I have a feeling this is a Todd story that you'll be laughing about for years to come!

  28. That looks like an awesome place for dinner, very pretty and it was fun to see the menu. Glad to see my little Todd is still cute as ever :)

  29. I agree the wall-hanging would be pretty on a patio or porch, it's very nice for four dollars.

Your night out with friends looks like fun, sometimes we get stuck in our routines and need a special night out.

Hope Todd produces the goods, if not, I hope it's rolled under something...
    Hugs,
    ~Jo

  31. Hi Kim
Its sooo good to see you and Carl were able to have some good times with friends,, even though you could not get away.
I think it is good news that Todd is feeling ok. Hopefully the item came out today, or will remain a mystery as to where it went.
The wall hanging is gorgeous.. We love it. It reminded us of this morning when the sky was full of Canada Geese!

  33. I had so hoped that the cap had appeared by now. I've been on "Puppy-Doody" before. Good luck, I hope that it appears today!

I love the etched rock piece that you bought!

  34. Hi dear Kim, Wish we could have gone out to dinner with you-it all looks great. I would have chosen the Quinoa though because I love it. As for the bottle cap, Todd probably thought it was a treasure and since terriers are diggers, I'm thinking he buried it. Love his personality shining through.
Sending lots of love & hugs to you and the gang.

  35. I hope you find the cap, when you do find it don't post pics, we'll take your word for it! Ha!

  36. Kim,
Hopefully the cap is just hiding somewhere and not any where near Todd or his behind.
Sounds as if you had a great stay vacation and the restaurant menu looks yummy.
Your estate find looks as if it should be hung outdoors, it sounds heavy so I assume it a plaster type picture. It would be pretty hung on a barn door or just leaned up against a fence.

  37. LOVE that restaurant too! We went there on our anniversary and they made it so special for us! We even had squash blossom croutons on our salads! Fun! :) Robin
