Ending on a Good Note

Thank-you all for your kind thoughts that you left for the loss of our boy Jake.  Your e-mails and comments have again reminded me that I'm not alone in my loss.  I used Saturday as my personal day of mourning Jake. I didn't really do anything other than eat all the wrong things, nap, surf the internet, read blogs and tend to the dogs.  I have to admit, that I didn't even get dressed.  Today however I was ready and needed to rejoin the human race.  The weather could not have been nicer today with temps warm enough to have the windows open to bring in some fresh air.

Todd is doing really well since his surgery this past Wednesday.  We have followed the post-op instructions and not allowed him to over do it.  He's been resting quite nicely in his crate and not complaining. What a good patient he has been!

I did hear from the family that Jasmine picked as her 'forever family.' They have decided to wait for her to recover from her surgery which is scheduled for Friday.
I also heard from some friends of mine who are also a foster home for the rescue.  Marilyn, who you will recall was also interested in Jasmine has found her new companion in their 10 year foster girl named Abigail!

The weekend is ending quietly and peacefully and on a good note.  I hope yours is too.

  1. Hi Kim,
I'm so sorry to read you have lost your boy Jake, my heart goes out to you..
Glad to see that Todd is recovering nicely, and love the picture of Marilyn and her new best friend Abigail, she'll have a wonderful home !
We seem to have both been down the rabbit hole, here's to better times {chink}.

  2. Hi Kim,

I am also eating all the wrong things...but I don't have a good reason...other than the fact that the wrong things are yummy! Kidding aside, I am glad you are feeling better.

Can't wait to see Todd active again. ;)

That last picture is a good one. Did you lighten it a bit? I like the slight grain to the photo..looks timeless.

    Take care!

  3. Love that Marilyn found just the dog for her after all!

Sure hope Todd perks back up soon. BOL!

  4. And life continues at Golden Pines.....all the best Kim.

  5. glad Marilyn found her companion. They look happy together.

I'm glad Todd is doing so well and glad you took a day for you yesterday, Kim. You take care.

  6. So good to hear that Marilyn found a special friend, very loving picture.

Todd somehow doesn't look like he's taking it too easy, lol! He looks very happy!

    You sound better too. {Hugs}

  7. So Todd's taking it easy, eh? Oh that Todd! lol It sounds like you had a very nice day of re-grouping.. So glad Marilyn and Abigail found one another..

  8. I'm glad you are feeling a bit better today :o)

I found that it was quite pointless to try and keep my girl Magique quiet after I had her 'fixed' when she was a kitten. There was just nothing doing, but I had the feeling that she would know what she could handle anyhow, which turned out to be just about anything :o)

  9. Things are looking up at Golden Pines. I'm so glad Todd is good about following instructions.

  10. oh, i got chills from marilyn's happy note! awesome! a day of mourning is a good thing. i believe the soul needs it, to properly grieve and let go. :)

  11. Marilyn and Abigail look like a great pair! Guess Todd will tell you when he needs to take it easy.

  12. Dont think Todd knows how to take it easy by that photo lol glad he's doing good. Also glad you are doing better as well ! Jake will be missed but never forgoten ! Wonderful that Marilyn and Abigail have found eachother ! Wonderful photos. Have a wonderful evening !

  13. Kim I'm so sorry to read about Jake. What a sweet boy. I'm so sorry. I went from tears over Jake to happy tears over Marilyn finding Abigail. What a beautiful photo. Happy to read Todd is doing well {and taking it slow.....or not}. Have a wonderful week.

  14. Love that photo of Todd taking it easy. He looks like such a fun little rascal.
I love the happy outcome for Marilyn and Abigail. And a day of beautiful weather goes a long long way to helping you feel happy again.

  15. Lots of good news here.
Have a blessed week, Kim. *hugs* ♥

  16. Glad you took a day for yourself. That final shot of your porch in evening light is beautiful.

  17. Woof! Woof! Golden Happy to hear Good News. So wonderful news about Marilyn. Lots of Golden LOVE n Woofs, Sugar

  18. So glad for Abigail and Marilyn and of course sweet Jasmine.

Sometimes it just all turns out good, doesn't it.

And I agree, if that is taking it easy, that Todd must really be a mover and a shaker when he is completely well.

  19. Great post, Kim! I love the picture of Todd "resting" after his surgery.

  20. Glad that both Jasmine and Abigail have new homes to look forward to.

I see that Todd takes it easy much the way my dogs do. I actually had to sedate the girls for a week after being spayed.

It's been cold and rainy here and that usually moves in your direction, so enjoy the nice weather while you can.

  21. We are confident this week will be better for you.

    Sending you lots of hugs!

  22. Glad you had "your" day to grieve for Jake . . .From experience though, I know you won't be forgetting hin.

Happy for the adoptive family and cheers all around for Marilyn and Abigail!

  23. Thank you Kim for taking the time and let us know how you are doing.
It's good that you gave yourself some time to just "feel". That is so important.
And we are so happy that Marilyn found a special friend to care for. Abigal is beautiful. The smile on both thier faces says so much.
Were also so happy to hear that Todd is feeling better. It won't be long and he will be back to his normal self.

  24. So glad Marilyn for the one for her and visa versa.
Hey Todd that's taken' it easy?!!!

  25. We've missed a few days and just caught up on your news. We're so sorry Jake is gone, but happy that at least the last 24 days of his life were spent with people who loved him and cared for him.

Glad Todd came though his surgery so well. We have our paws crossed for Jasmine's speedy recovery and a negative biopsy.

    Jed & Abby

  26. Just think: Jake is perfect now. His coat is full and shiny. His beautiful face isn't marred by any lumps and he can run and jump and bark with the best of them!

He was a lucky boy to have you to love him and give him the strength to go over the bridge.

You are an inspiration to us all.
