The reign of Queen Jasmine ended today. You may recall that she was supposed to have surgery this past Friday. However, there was a change in plans when Jasmine was all prepped and ready for a spay surgery and tumor removal, it was discovered that Jasmine had other tumors in her abdomen. Closer examination and x-rays showed that there were multiple mammary tumors that should not be disturbed because if they are the cancerous-type it may cause them to spread more quickly. So, no spay or tumor removal was done, which meant that Jasmine was ready for adoption! I called and discussed everything at length with her new family and took Queen Jasmine to her new kingdom this afternoon.
So tonight, with Jasmine dethroned there's nothing but the most indestructible of dog-toys left behind, and a bit of a sting in my heart because she's gone. I am going to miss her. But I'm thankful for the time that Jasmine was here with us. And I am especially thankful for a happy ending because a good and kind family opened their hearts and home to her.
Even with all the dogs, with Jasmine gone there is a different feeling in the house tonight. Carl reminded me that this is the first time in a long time that we've not had a foster dog for the rescue. I wonder how long that will last?

I'm so happy for Jasmine..and for you, Kim!
ReplyDeleteMay she have a long and happy life at her forever home.
I bet it won't be long before another rescue finds you.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Santa can replace some of those worn toys. We're hoping he brings some new ones to us.
Morgan, Tsar and the Porties
What is a few toys between friends? Jasmine's condition does not sound good in the long term, we hope her new home is careful with her and that they enjoy the days they will have.
ReplyDeleteHow long will it be before you have another foster? We just started the 30 second shot clock!
Mogley G. Retriever
Very happy Jasmine has a wonderful home. I'm sure she will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteLittle sad for you. But I'm sure you will be fostering soon again.

Not long I bet! Yay for Jasmine! And I have yet to find a toy that Cougar cannot destroy..he just loves them to death! ;D
ReplyDeleteHa! This post made me laugh! I hope Jasmine enjoys many more years of toy shreddding, tennis ball defuzzing, and loud barking FUN! :)
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Happy life, Jasmine! I hope your new subjects, in your new home, will do all they can to keep you contented.

Wishing Jasmine all the best in her new Kingdom!

Sounds like Queen Jasmine will have a new kingdom to rule! Hooray for her!
ReplyDeleteGod bless that family for still taking her into their hearts and home, knowing she may have cancerous tumors! i do hope she will rule her new queendom and receive TONS of love and treats in it. she sounds so much like my marigold - she ruled the roost for 14 yrs. ALWAYS into everything. ALWAYS demanding her share of whatever you had. ALWAYS keeping time to let you know it was feeding time. the house is very quiet, even with the 4 dogs we still have here...
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how just one dog leaving can change the whole "feel" to the daily routine?
ReplyDeleteMay Queen Jasmine's new owners buy her a new toy at every rummage sale they go to :-)
Happy trails and wishing many happy years to come for sweet Jasmine and her new family.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the break while it lasts! It must be a great feeling Kim to know you have done your best to find and make the lives of your dogs comfortable. Good on you guys!
ReplyDeleteLove the first photo!
ReplyDeleteHugs for all you do!

That is such wonderful news about Jasmine. A great story too about her reign. Looks like she wore Bubba out!! Tell the Chub Bros. their uncle KT says hi. Rooooooooooooooos from Easton too.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for Jasmine to find her forever home. Look at Bubba, so wiped out! Blessings to all of you.
ReplyDeletehappy tails to you Jasmine...and happy trails to you adoptive family..
ReplyDeletelike i said before...luv ya for your big heart
Hi Kim, So glad Jasmine went to her forever home but sad for you.
ReplyDeleteI know there are probably other goldens out there that will be fostered and loved by you.
Our Reggie had a very mild seizure on Sat-and he was no worse from it. I mentioned it to his vet today and hope that we'll go another 4 months without one. He is doing well though and I'm so thankful we still have him with us.
Hugs & Love, Noreen & Reggie
sweet little queen that she is...
ReplyDeletei hope she's kept in plenty of soft chewey toys. maybe all those pregnancies and not such good treatment resulted in the desire to shred something ... just from tension alone! we'll never know. she's a brave little survivor.
now because of you she has a chance at a new happy life for the time she has left. none of us can ask for more than that.
love and hugs,
tammy j
Kim, through your entire post, I kept thinking..."God save the Queen!".Moon has that "I need food" bark, just one sharp "arf" means "food"..:)JP
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jasmine, best wishes to her and her new family!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Bubba isn't going to lose any sleep over it!

I am thrilled to hear that Jasmine was adopted and will be cherished for the rest of her days. I hope that she has many days ahead of her.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that you'll have a new foster by the end of the week, knowing your generous heart :)
So happy for Jasmine in her new home! And I'm sure there will be a newcomer not far behind Jasmine's departure.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy for Jasmine. The family who adopted her will love her so. And she will love them!
ReplyDeleteA very happy beginning for Jasmine.
Tonight she is being snuggled into her new home.

How lovely Jasmine found a home! How lucky these fur children are that u touch their lives...
ReplyDeleteHow i wish u were close by, Kim.I would have just bundled my unfortunate pack and driven down to your place.
Yes, for now they are safe. Two of them are extremely sprightly and actually goes yap yap when i get close. It is heartrending the way the mother trysts me and lets me get close enough to touch her babies.
There have been many shares on FB and a few phone calls but nothing has worked out yet.
I am still hoping and praying. It is getting colder here with every passing day and i feel so restless when i snuggle close with Gin,Bud n Shadow at night.
Sounds like Jasmine has a good family that will be taking care of her. I know that helps you guys knowing she went to a good home. Love the last photo, Bubba says it all when it comes to the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to your new home Jasmine. May you be the Queen of your castle!!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless ya for all you do!
Aww... Jasmine is beautiful! So glad for her happy ending!!
ReplyDeleteA happy ending for Jasmine. I hope she enjoys her new home very much and will live a long, happy life. I know the house is empty without her.
ReplyDeleteJust turned on my computer for the first time since Saturday and the amount of blog updates I have missed is astonishing! I'm so glad to read that Jasmine has gone to her new home, enjoy the quiet while it lasts!
ReplyDeleteWe are also most gratified that Jasmine's adoptive family loved her enough to go through with the adoption. We hope Jasmine has many happy years with them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your respite from rescue; we expect it will be brief.
Jed & Abby
Hooray for Jasmine! So sweet that she left torn up toys to remember her by. Don't they just make you smile when you see them? :)
