There's nothing like a Christmas parade to give you a dose of the holiday spirit!
For me, there's just something about the simplicity that's found in small town parades.
I love their beauty...
And the poise and grace...
Of the people within them.
The sound of the music always electrifies the air...
And seeing the dogs never fails to put a smile on peoples faces...
I enjoy the riders on magnificent and beautiful horses...
That walk with their dogs...
It's always fun seeing the local groups in the parades too...with their dogs...

It's so hard to say what my favorite part is about small town parades.
I guess it's the dogs...
Did you know foxhounds don't 'wag their tails' they 'wave their sterns'? tee hee. What a lovely parade! No goats though - next year I'll have to come down and remedy that concern.
ReplyDeleteFrom the Austin Healey to the Master of Hounds . A more English Christmas than you could find in England !
ReplyDeleteSo, did the dogs come at the tail end of the parade? hee hee
ReplyDeleteThis was so fun! I so wish we had a Christmas parade around here.
ReplyDeleteI got tears in my eyes when I saw the Great Pyrenees. I had one once. He was the best dog ever and I miss him so much!
Thanks for sharing this, Kim.
What a great parade and I just love the fox hounds!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. What a great parade. I wish we had parades around here. My favorite is definitely the dogs. Beautiful white Great Pyrenees.
ReplyDeleteDid you take any of yours?
TFS
Yep Kim for me it would be the dogs too! I love each year that immediately following the Macy Day Parade on Thanksgiving I get the National Dog Show! Dogs and holidays are a perfect combination to me.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one!

our parade is this saturday. there will be horses, but cowboy style.
there will be dogs, but only those viewing. there will be children though, and santa claus and probably a covered wagon or two.

Thanks for sharing all those wonderful pictures with us, Kim. :-) ♥
ReplyDeleteNow thats the kind of parade I like dogs and horses ! Havent seen Hunters and hounds together for years ! Awesome photos! Have a wonderful day !
ReplyDeleteIt'd be a tie between the horses and dogs for me!
ReplyDeleteSam
wow. that hunt club group is impressive!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteWhat fun. Next year I plan on walking in the Scottish Parade in Alexandria with Piper and Lilly. Maybe you can come and bring Todd.

Kim, What a wonderful parade! I too would have to agree that the dogs would be the best part. I love seeing the fox hounds-such beauty!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful and warm day.
Hugs, Noreen & Reggie
This brought a much needed smile to my face :o)
ReplyDeleteGreat parade and thank you for sharing it with us. I'd have to say the dogs would be the best part for me, but then they call me the dog lady! They just know they are getting lots of attention and I truly believe they love that.
ReplyDeleteOur Paw Challenged One was amazed that they could get a Healey started when the temerature is below 72 degrees. He can't start the old MG's once it falls below 60 degrees out.
ReplyDeleteDogs make a parade. If only more towns realised that! More dogs!
Mogley G. Retriever
We got to go to a parade last week. It was a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the people throwing candy to me. They worked so hard getting it over to me and then mom wouldn't let me eat it. Can you believe that? The nerve....
ReplyDeleteAROOOOOF!
Boondocks & The Love Shack Pack
I love a parade! They make everyone happy.
ReplyDeleteWe have a 4th of July parade in our little town so I go most years.
Your parade photos made me wish I could have been there to see it for myself. All the dogs and horses...right up my alley!
That looks like fun. I should get my group trimmed up next year and take them all to walk in the parade.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Our little town has a wonderful 4th of July parade, so I know exactly what you mean... it is like stepping back into the past.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures. Where was this parade? Of course, I love the corgis.
ReplyDeleteWe love small town parades...did it bring a lump to your throat?

That parade looked really well organized. All those Bloodhounds! And staying with their people! Saw a few of these at the Park the other day. They are an interesting breed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great parade

WOW! I've never been a big 'parade person' but then again, I've NEVER seen a parade like this!!! How incredibly wonderful! I may try to organize a rescued canine unit in some local parades next year! Thanks for the inspiration. OMG those riders, horses and fox hounds are spectacular. If I had to pick one photo from your post it would be the close up of the three draft horse's heads. I think it is stunning and would BUY A PRINT of it if one was available! I've seen paintings with a similar set up only I believe it is snowing in the painting. It's always been one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible post Kim! You made my night...
So true that this is what brings the spirit of the holidays. LOVE the dogs. :)
ReplyDeleteIn our little town, the parade is in the spring just before Memorial Day. I love it, with all the old fashioned fun! I am feeling really envious of your Christmas parade right now, though. I'd love to see dogs in a Christmas parade!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a dog in a parade!!! There were lots and lots and lots of cute ones in your parade.
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it... parades are pretty rare out west. I mainly remember parades from when I lived on the east coast.
I loved your parade!
I love a parade too, I would really love this one. Great shots!
ReplyDeletewe have a christmas parade too and yes they are fun!!

Are you SURE those photos weren't taken in England?! What a gorgeous parade with lots of happy faces. The dogs are the best, of course, but I also love the cute little kiddy car!!
ReplyDeletex
We love parades too, but we only get to see them on tv!
ReplyDeleteHow fun it was for you to go and watch all the excitement!

They got it right having DOGS in the parade. What a great idea! Especially CORGIS.
ReplyDeleteParades are one of those traditions that makes you feel good inside. It's about folks getting together to share and be proud of the town they live in and it's people.
Great photos...
Wow, that's one amazing parade! Here we have an parade celebrating the doldrums of February miserableness, but it doesn't hold a candle to the one you showed us! What fun!
ReplyDeleteCool Parade!! I love parades.. I especially like Santa.. and I loved those white horses!! Todd should have been in that parade :-)
ReplyDeleteI to thought it was in England to start with. Though from what I can gather, fox hunting has been more or less banned in Britain,
ReplyDeletegreat shots,
Gill
I couldn't agree with you more about small town parades. There's something so homey and feel good there.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe all those dogs in the parade without any fuss....wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Christmas parades here. That doesn't seem right does it!!! Thank you for sharing your Kim - cute pups!
ReplyDeletexo Catherine
Our town had its Christmas parade too this weekend, but we went to a wedding. Check it out, OK. On my blog. If you have time. Anyway, I'm glad you had a chance to relax and enjoy yourself. And the white horses were just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI have never cared for parades, (and that is putting it mildly) but that one looked like a nice, warm, old-fashioned parade ... an enjoyable one to watch and experience. I enjoyed your pictures so much I actually wished I could have seen that parade. Thank you for sharing all the photos of it.

ReplyDeleteThe dogs would be my favorite part too. And you are so right, there is nothing quite so magical as a small town parade.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tremendous series of photos, Kim. Yes, it's all about the dogs, isn't it? xoxo
ReplyDeleteVery cool - we love a parade. Especially when there are dogs, marching bands (we really love the bagpipe guys), old cars and clowns.
ReplyDeleteYou make me wish that I lived in a small town. I love all that stuff ~ especially the dogs!
ReplyDeleteHave a great sunday
What a parade. I'm impressed with all the dogs AND the Hunt Club coming out. I bet it was so colorful.
ReplyDeleteI love this series of photos! Aha! I used to have an Italian Racing Red Austin Healey just like that one! It was back in the dark ages.
