Waiting to Come Home

It has been a very busy week so far!  It started before daylight on Monday morning when I realized that Carl had locked my keys inside my van the day before.  Yes, I'm blaming Carl.  It had to be him, I would never do such a thing, especially when I knew my keys were inside, right?!  Right... I know that to some, it may not be such a big deal.  But when you don't have an extra key, the office where you work is short-staffed and everyone is counting on you to be there, and the only other person who has a key, in this case Carl, works 2 hours away from home, it turns into one.  Fortunately it turned out 'okay.'  Carl made the drive back home, and I got to work only about an hour late.  He decided to take the rest of day off because of something about not wanting to drive a total of 8 hours, to only work for about 6.  I guess in doing the math, it really didn't make much sense to go back.

Todd returned to day-care on Tuesday for the first time since late November.  He was so excited when he saw where he was, and he really had a great time playing with the other dogs!  He especially had a good time with a young Rottweiler named 'Lola.'

Todd was totally worn out when I picked him up at the end of the day.  I was exhausted as well and we all went to bed early.  Today will be another busy day at work.  But I have no real plans for tomorrow when I'm off work.  Hopefully I'll have the chance to catch up on your blogs and things around the house.
We've also been asked to take another senior dog.  He was stray found around Baltimore Maryland.  Right now he's doing his time in a local shelter, and is estimated to be about 12-13 years old.  His owners have until Thursday to claim him.  While I hope that his owners will come, it's good to know that if they don't, he'll have a new home to go to, which will be ours.  Stay tuned.

  5. Like you, I hope his owners come for him. I know you would welcome him, but I think you have enough on your plate. ;)

My hubby has had to rescue me like that, too. The only thing being not so far away.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

  6. Kim, Wow what a week you've had-so glad you were able to get Carl to come home for you. I used to keep a plastic key(a copy made at a roadside service business). but I have been known to do this also.
So glad Todd had fun at daycare-boy his friend looks like he's pretty tough. So glad you are opening your home and heart to another golden-you simply amaze me Kim.
Have a wonderful day and a great day off tomorrow.
    Love, Noreen & Reggie

  8. Having been known to lock my keys in my still running car, a mechanic told me to take a spare and have the hole drilled out a little bigger, then hide under your license plate. This has been very helpful on a couple of occasions!
Hope his people claim the stray, but knowing he will have a good home if he comes to your home!

  9. Oh gosh Kim I have locked my keys in the car several times. Our problem is that we only have ONE key. Oh yes we started out with two but I have searched and searched my house and the only one just disappeared. I asked Sassy, Geno and Mabel if they knew where it was but they just gave me that cocked head look as if to say You silly woman. I had to call the Triple A to rescue me. Sure hope that beautiful golden finds his family but I am relieved to know he will be with you if he doesn't. Hope your week gets better. xoxo

  11. I so love Todd! How adorable he is and how great he loves day care so much. You have no idea how great it feels to know that an old, lost dog will have a home with you in case the owners are not found.

  12. Oooh, I have a key-less entry, so at least I can get inside my vehicle even if the key is missing.
I once locked my truck with my granddaughter inside and had to get the locksmith to respond, not a good thing !
Sounds like you need a day off, maybe just potter around tomorrow and give yourself a break.
How do people lose their dogs, and never check shelters...it always amazes me, but you would give hime the BEST home, if the owners are not found.
Take a few miniutes for yourself sweet friend.
    Hugs,
    ~JO

  13. Wow, what a cutie! He definitely looks worn out too after so much play time... and I love that picture of him at the end! Too cute! I hope that the stray you found finds his way back home, but it's so comforting to know that with people like you around, he's in good hands. I hope to learn more about him and his soon to be adventures!

  14. Your first sentances reminded me of the saying "I didn't say it was your fault, I said that I was going to blame you" which is something I find myself doing occasionally to my partner!

I wish the Goldie well. It is good to know he will have a home either way, as many old pound dogs are not so lucky.

  15. Soooo sorry about the keys getting locked in your car. Darn Carl! :)

The puppies are so cute together!

  16. I had a friend whose Bichon always would push the lock down on her car. I remember having to rescue her and drive her home to get the second set of keys to get inside. Her puppy always seem to have a laughing face over all this.

With my hubby, he has put them where I can't find them from time to time. I look and look and nowhere in sight. Always on days I NEED to go somewhere.

Doggie day care seems like a fun place to go. I wonder if Tucker would get a kick out of that? I am new to the whole doggie parks and doggie daycare. I can see how much fun they must have. More fun than just laying around if there is no one to play with.

You have such a kind heart with your rescue care.

I wanna snuggle that lost dog... Praying for his !!!

  18. Oh Kim, I hate days like that! So glad Carl came to the rescue. Todd looks very contented at day care.
I hope the owners lay claim on their beloved friend.. but if not, he's in for a real treat at Golden Pines!

  19. You'd think that after having a dog that long, the owners would be looking for him. But we know he'll have a loving home if that doesn't happen.

    Todd is just so cute.

  20. Looks like Todd and his friend wore themselves out. A tired dog is a good dog.

We'll be waiting to meet your new family member.

  21. That is funny, Ryker had a best puppy friend Rotti named Lola in pyppy class.
Hope your potential newbie gets reunited today!

  22. Hmmmm.....sounds like my household - the key ordeal. So cute seeing Todd and new girl pal Lola. Lola seems to be a popular name lately, I'm hearing it a lot.

  24. Keys are the bane of everyone's existence, I think!
    Todd and the daycare...perfecto!

  25. Have you ever locked your car keys in a car that is still running? Talk about pnic. Lucky for me my husband had an extra pair of keys and was close by. In those days we didn't have cell phones and I had to walk to his place of business to get the keys.

  26. Glad the key situation resolved itself so easily. :)

    Another senior dog? Bless you.

  27. Hi Kim
What a beautiful sunrise, or is that a sunset? It is gorgeous!
I would panic if I lost the keys to the car or locked them inside- which reminds me- I need to check to see if the one I hid in a magnet thing is still there!
Todd and the rottie look like they are dancing! Todd is just the cutest little bugger!
That poor abandoned golden- gee- who knows what is going through his mind!
I hope your having a good day off!

  28. Todd and the other dog is just hilarious! Sophie is like that when we go to certain places and she realizes where she is. They are just like little kids. I am so glad the stray is being taken care of and will have a home if needed.

  29. Sounds like Todd had a wonderful time! As for the keys, it happens to everyone at least once. I remember fishing my cousin's keys out of her purse with a straightened out hanger through her partially opened window at 11:00 P.M. on a summer night!

  30. Poor old guy - I wonder how he ended up in the pound?

  31. Do you have one of the new fangled cars with those expensive keys? We don't, and mama always has at least 3 sets of keys with her, just to be safe. Even if you do, it might be worth $100 or whatever it costs to have a spare key made. Just a thought.

Bet that poor old Golden in durance vile in Baltimore is anxious to be sprung tomorrow. Does he have a name? We sure wish him luck.

    Todd is adorable, as always.

  32. You're amazing. That stray dog is unlucky in one way... but very lucky in another. Your home has to be nirvana for dogs!

I love that first photo of Todd and Lola!

We recently had a key locked in a car while we were in the city, and our local dealership cut us a new key real fast. Just an idea in case you ever have that happen again...

  33. Oh wow. Todd really looks happy and pooped at the end of the day. I guess he found a best friend. Good for him. I am sad about the other golden with no home, but happy that he will be going to a good home. He will probably be better off with you and Carl. You both seem to be so loving and caring for these animals.
    Love reading your post.

How did you find the day care for Todd? IRoscoe is not very friendly with other animals, he's pretty much a loner. Maybe a daycare atleast 2 times a week would be good for him.

We hope the owners of that senior dog will come. If not, he will have a lovely home with you, Kim.

  35. You can buy cheap keys (the old-fashioned kind!) that fit the driver door lock. This lets you have extra keys (one in your wallet, maybe, and one in the junk drawer in the kitchen, and one in your office desk?).

The cheap keys will not start the car, but if your keys are locked in the car, you're saved, if you have one of the cheap spares with you.

Love the pics of Todd and his buddy.

Lucky old golden, to have you as his safety net!

  36. Cute picture of Todd and his friend.
Gee I hate the idea of these senior Goldens being abandon and forgotten. That picture in the cage is very sad. If he doesn't get to go home with his family, I hope you guys get to take him.
