Taking Lucas to his final dental appointment is also checked off last weeks list! The dentist is really happy with how well he has healed, and we said our good-byes and thank-you's to Dr. Chamberlain!
Squeezed into our Saturday was a 2 hour drive (each way) down the 'Capital Beltway' to attend an adoption day held by the rescue, in hopes of meeting Lucas's forever family.
Unfortunately, not a single person was interested in the 13 year old dog with no teeth who kept barking to try and call attention to himself. It seemed that everyone we met only wanted to adopt the younger dogs...sigh.....
But Lucas and I tried...He was exhausted afterwards!
While it wasn't good news for Lucas, it was for me because the adoption day was held very close to the Krispy Kreme--I enjoyed a couple of freshly made donuts that helped to revive my optimism. (How many times have I mentioned to you that they are my favorites?)
This coming week is supposed to be a slower paced one...At least that's what I'm wishing for!
THANK YOU for stopping by and keeping up with us!! I'm sorry this past week didn't allow me a lot of time to read your blogs. I'm really looking forward to catching up with you and what's happening in your neck of the woods!
i adore that lucas. and selfishly, i'm happy that he went back home with you. i know that's not the answer you want, but...
ReplyDeleteI think Lucas wants to stay with you anyway:)
ReplyDeletethings happen for a reason, and the reason is that Lucas is happy with you and you're his forever family....
ReplyDeleteGill in Canada
I think Lucas is going to stay and he will just have to learn to leave the cat alone. Tell him I said so.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Krispy Kreme and I haven't had one in several years. Oh my, I shall be obsessing about that.
Oh, how could anyone not want to adopt that sweet boy! That picture of him just made my heart melt. Thank goodness for Krispy Kreme! Everybody went nuts here when they came to Canada!
ReplyDeleteLucas looks like he is doing really well. It would be really tough for me to adopt such an old dog. You know your time is so limited. However, maybe there is an older person somewhere looking for a companion.
ReplyDelete*hugs* God bless.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Kim. ♥
Hate that Beltway traffic...
ReplyDeletePerhaps Lucas has found his forever home.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
Woof! Woof! Oh KIM. Lucas got a home at the Golden Pines. I bet he barked intentionally. So glad you had your Sweet Krispy Kreme. My peeps loving living upcountry and having a slower pace of lifestyle. Hope you have a restful week. Sending Lots of Golden LOVE to the Golden Pines Gang. Lots of Golden ALOHA n Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteyou've got great stamina and optimism for Lucas...maybe he has found his forever home...
ReplyDeletexoxo
I agree w/ Sugar, Lucas wanted to go back to Golden Pines, where life is good!
ReplyDeleteGlad you treated yourself to KK!
xoxo
My heart began breaking for Lucas...but then I realized he'd still be with you and that made me happy. Sorry. But I just adore that face.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the most recent polls, I think Lucas is meant to stay at Golden Pines. Come on Mom....he's 13.
ReplyDeleteI ditto all the above. Sometimes choices are made for us. You'll both do fine.
ReplyDeleteYou may not want to read this, but I am really happy Lucas is back home with you. He was given to you to take care of him and that is exactly what you have done since. So there is no place like home, your home for Lucas.
ReplyDeleteHope your week goes well and is not as hectic as it has been.
Ana
I'm so glad Lucas has a warm and loving home to return to after a tough day - maybe there is another family out there just waiting for him, but in the meantime I am so happy he is safe and loved where he is.
ReplyDeleteI have never had a Krispy Kreme! I can see that will need to go on the list of things to do the next time I am in the States!
I think a krispy creme donut is the perfect end to the busy week you have had! Donuts make everything more tolerable!
ReplyDeleteIts good the dr said Lucas is doing fine.... and well--- I know it will all work out for Lucas,,,, the answers will come and you will know.
love

I for one think people are missing out on a wonderful dog in Lucas. I mean just look at him! I hope this coming week is slower paced and a time of renewal.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Sad faces here for Luc not finding a furever home. Happy tails and faces that he still lives at Golden paradise AKA GP. Poor guy, that's a tough assignment to match him up. 13 year old, toothless barker. Paws crossed.
ReplyDeleteLucas is so beautiful his photo just breaks my heart. What a shame he didn't get any interest at the adoption day. Their loss.
ReplyDeleteHoping this coming week is slower than the last one.
xx
Oh sweet Lucas. I am sure just the right person will come along for you one of these days! Kisses!
ReplyDeleteKim, perhaps you could wrap up one of those Krispy Kreme's along with that sunshine and warm you are going to send me. :)
xo Catherine
Lucas - If only we lived on the other side of the ocean .
ReplyDeleteIt takes a very special, loving, selfless and generous person to adopt a senior dog. Especially one with special needs. My prayers are that Lucas' special person finds him soon.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, he is truly blessed to be in your care...
At his age it's hard for Lucas to start again so he's happy to be at Golden Pines with you x
ReplyDeletei don't know why you and lucas haven't bonded more. just must be chemistry? how could you ever think of giving away that precious face after what he went through to get to you! he's finally free of pain. i think you'll see the real heart of lucas now more and more.
ReplyDeleteand i know cc was there first. but i have never yet met a cat that couldn't fend for itself against a dog. especially one with no teeth!
i think he actually is just fascinated by cc.
i'm so sorry... really... but i'm just like all the others above...
i hope he has a forever home at what he believes is his already...
golden pines!
love,
tammy j
Oh dear, poor Lucas. I'm sure the perfect family is out there for him though! As for Krispy Kreme, I always try and get one when I'm visiting my grandparents in the States, we don't have them here in Canada! We're all about Tim Hortons up here :o)
ReplyDeleteOh, sweet Lucas. Who could resist that face??? I'm with you on the Krispy Kreme. The one that was closest to us (about 30 minutes away) closed up and left. {sigh} better for my waist but boy do I miss them!
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteLucas has already found his permanent home. He was just barking to keep everyone away. Smart Dog.
We don't have KK here but one day I'm going to try them.
Have a great weekend.
Tell Lucas to hang in there. His forever home is out there and when it comes it will be the right one.
ReplyDeleteLove those seniors.

Hamish & Sophie
Lucas is such a sweetie. I bet that someone will see him as their best friend someday.
ReplyDeleteOur plans to adopt an older dog got derailed. We planned to adopt a senior as our K became a senior, thinking that she'd have a companion for her slower-paced walks etc and that we'd love to have another older dog as part of our pack. However, the evil C has changed everything.
Glad things are slowing down a bit. And how lovely and green everything looks in your neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteAww, we would love to have Lucas, but we don't have a big enough house for another animal.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he has you & I hope you have a slower week.
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteJust stopped by to say "hi" and see how y'all are doing.
Hey, in any dog's book, Lucas has it made where he is.
Hope y'all have a great week!
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Lucas has such a dear face. So sad that nobody picked him. It's too bad he stalks CC...
ReplyDeleteI hope this week is not so tiring for you. Take care of YOU!
With a sweet face like that there is someone that will love him forever.
ReplyDelete'Youth' wins out yet again! Even in the dog world we are all obsessed with youth!
ReplyDeleteLucas is fortunate he is where he is, while waiting.
Awww... I am so sorry that Lucas didn't find a new Forever Home. He seems to be a most wonderful dog with lots of love to give to someone. But he does seem really happy where he is, too.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried a Krispy Kreme donut. I have heard good and bad about them. But I am curious, and will have to try one for myself sometime.
It is always so sad to hear that nobody wants an old dog. They are afraid to give their hearts for a short time. But old dogs have so much heart to give. They seem to appreciate people and their time so much more. Lucas good luck.
ReplyDeleteSweet William The Scot
Oh, Lucas is such a sweet dog. I hope the very best for this wonderful dog finding a loving home.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI love K K donuts too! We love to go the store where they are baked and get them hot off the conveyor belt.
Lucas looks so sweet! Hope he ends up staying for you.

Krispy Kreme - my favorite too! Oh, Lucus looks so sweet... and so sad, bless his heart. Hope this week gives you some rest Kim!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable, how could no one take him home? then he needs to stay with you....
ReplyDeleteI want to thank -you for taking the time to visit on the death of my mom,it means alot to me with all the people you visit & are friends with,thank-you,phyllis
I'm sorry Lucas didn't find a forever family, but then, I'm also glad to see him with you a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteI think you see we are all happy that Lucas is staying with you. What a sweetheart. I wish I lived closer to you and I would dog-sit! (if Henri would let me). I just love that Lucas!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Krispy Kreme here anymore. I was surprised to hear you mention it. Thought they went out of business.
