Behind...

I am so far behind on 'normal life' this week.  I'm so sorry I've not been able to read your blogs. But the food drive is consuming much, if any, of my spare time as we head into the last 2 days.
~Our little hungry hatchlings~
But I've been behind in getting to work on time
Although it helps when there is something like this to look at...
Instead of reading license plates...
I've been behind in getting home...
And behind in spending time with the dogs.  This week I heard from Sam's former family.  They have been thinking about him, and have asked to see him again.  You'll recall that Sam came to us from a family at the church I attend.  They had him for about 5 years, and when 'the Mom' was diagnosed with cancer, because of her health and a move, they were unable to keep him, and they gave Sam to us.  Its been about 4 years since they saw him, and 'the Mom' in particular would like to see him one more time.  I've no doubt that they dearly loved Sam, and I know had it not been for 'the Mom's' health, they would have kept him.  Of course I have agreed to the meeting which will probably be next week.  I noticed this week that the swelling has returned to Sam's cheek.  We've started him on antibiotics again, and I continue to hope and pray that along with the medication and the Chinese herbs they will work to reduce swelling and the size of the tumor.

In the rush of the week, I am so glad that I was able to carve out some time to meet a fellow blogger, 'Louise,' writer of the blog, Wildlife, Wildflowers and a Window, who was in my neck of the woods from New York to see her Aunt.  We had such a delightful visit, and she brought me some of her Tartarian Asters.  They were originally transplanted from her Aunts garden, to hers in New York, and now they have once again found a home here in Virginia.  I hope I can remember what they are, because for some reason, 'Aunt Dottie's Asters' are what I have been calling them.

Whatever you call your week, I hope all is well and I look forward to a slower pace and  catching up with your news!  Thanks for stopping by and catching up with us at Golden Pines! (Mom or Dad Phoebe with a meal for their hungry hatchlings)

  9. Maybe staying 'crazy busy' is a good thing? The photo of Sam makes me sad. Poor pup! He is so lucky to have been loved and then placed into such a loving home when tragedy struck his original family. I know that I have to learn to focus on all the good and not be so saddened by what the future may or may not hold. You are a good roll model for me, Kim.

I hope you get the chance to RELAX and enjoy Life at Golden Pines a bit this weekend!

    ;-)

  10. Busy, busy, busy! I don't know how you find the time for everything. The hatchlings are so cute! Poor Sam, I hope the antibiotics and herbs work for him! It's nice of you to take him to see his old family, but I do find it a little odd they want to see him after 4 years.

  13. I've been behind too Kim, so I sympathize with your busy schedule. I sure hope Sammy feels better soon, I wonder how he will react to seeing the original family next week? I don't think I would be able to do what you do Kim. You are really a special person.

  16. We hope that things slow down for you. We have summer vacation coming up fast so that will be our down time, I hope.
Well wishes to Sam for both his tumor and his visit. Must be so hard for his old family.
Your hatchings are adorable. Nothing like a nest full of baby birds to scream out Spring!

  17. Love the look you got from the wooly fellow ahead of you.

We've already had at least one batch of baby robins fledge. I love watching their parents feed the demanding little ones. It's one of my favorite spring and summer activities along with watching them splash in the bird bath.

  18. Hi Kim, I loved seeing your baby birds too. I bet those flowers will be beautiful. Very thankful that Sam's previous mom will get to see him-sounds like maybe closure for them both. Hopefully she is doing well with the fight and he will respond with the herbs you're using. You really will need to do a post about those. Sending lots of love your way today.

  20. Its hard when we're so busy that adding one more thing - however important, like a food drive - is so disruptive. Hoping that you're enjoying it none the less.

  29. How lovely to catch up with everything that's going on in Golden Pines.Visiting you here is always so much more enjoyable than FB.

Glad Sam is better.Good to see his handsome face...
I don't really know about the meeting with his former family.Buddy got rather disturbed after we took him to meet his earlier family and it took him quite a long time to adjust at our place again. He was otherwise alright but he would sit at the door and look sad, like he was waiting for someone...and also rush out when a car similar to the one they had passed by. It will be three years now in June since he came to live with us. He no longer seems bothered by that type of cars...
