They Don't Seem to Mind

What a crazy week!  When Carl gets back next week he's getting a raise!  Who knew that it took two people to take care of this crazy crew?  Okay, I knew that already, but its been confirmed more than once over the past few days!
I don't know which dog to feel most sorry for in Carl's absence.  Maybe Sandy?  He is given 3 different types of eye drops, 3 times daily.  He's so unlike our previous boy Tanner who also had glaucoma, and he's not that easy to give them to because he won't open his eyes.  Carl has somehow figured out the trick to easily do it, but me, I think Sandy is ending up with more on his face than in his eyes...But he doesn't seem to mind...
Maybe I should feel sorry for Sheba?  She had burs all tangled between her front leg and chest.  I noticed them on Wednesday evening.  But I forgot about them and remembered this morning to cut them out.
She didn't seem to mind ...
Lucas also makes the list of dogs to feel sorry for.  This morning he was having a little problem breathing--He was coughing and sneezing and kept swallowing and inhaling through his mouth.  I stayed with him for a while, hoping it would pass.  It didn't, but he seemed comfortable enough so I left him alone for just a few minutes, while I took care of something else.  When I came back, Lucas had a long blade of grass sticking out his nose.
Of course I removed it, cleaned up his slightly bloodied nose.  He didn't seem to mind...
Another one who may deserve some sympathy is CC.  She somehow got left outside last night. But just like the dogs, she didn't seem to mind ...
Trying to get everything done does take a lot of time.  We try to stick to a schedule and together Carl and I get the dogs fed around 8 o'clock in the evening. Even though they always get a snack when either Carl or I get home, it's still more 12 hours since their previous meal.  Last night they didn't get their snack or dinner until about 9 o'clock--They didn't seem to mind ...
Today I'm grateful for the easy going nature of our crew.  And even though things may be out of sync this week, they don't seem to mind...

  2. I think you deserve a medal looking after such a varied crew! (just wondered as I'm passing, but what's happened with the property behind yours? I know you said once that it had sold and you were concerned about future building. Of course, I may have missed a blog post about it, but recently it popped into my head and I just had to ask).

  6. Dogs are the most patient "people". Don't you wish we were all that way?

That grass coming through the nose - strangest thing, isn't it? Kinda gross too. Yoda used to do that. LOL!

  7. I love this post! Pets are really the greatest examples of unconditional love and patience in the world! As long as they get their cuddles and their food, it doesn't matter to them how long it takes or how many detours we make along the way. They always take it with grateful a smile :o)

Hope you have a good evening tonight.

  17. They are Goldies! Famous for being good natured, sweet pups.

Stella usually eats at 5 pm but sometimes I get busy and just don't get that bowl filled. So she waits until about 7 pm and then comes find me to bark just a little. No bad words or anything, just a reminder!

  20. I am sooo laughing at this post. That is just the great thing about pets.... They never seem to mind that we humans are so imperfect. LOL. Honestly, I don't know how you do it every day. You deserve an award.

  21. Gosh our pets know feeding time around here and we get the look if we are late. Mack the Mastiff begins a sharp bark if we are late fore his dinner... more out of habit really.

  25. No easy task to care for your menagerie on your own. Of course the dogs don't mind because they know your love and trust you will take care of them even if it isn't exactly on schedule.

  28. aww. Husband feeds Dillon & the cats weekday mornings as he is up first. He used to put Sam's eyedrops in. Jess & Joe feed Dillon & the cats eves & share the dog walking. Jess helps with flea treatment as the cats hate it !...it's a team effort !

Dillon and the Cats... a new rock band ? !

  29. Your dogs are so, so lovely - and I particularly like the photo of them on the verandah! My 13 year old daughter is the house vet - she wants to be one when she is older so I give all the awkward jobs to her!

  34. Sounds like you're all happy and relaxed!

I thought of you the other day...I was listening to Dean Koontz's book "A Big Little Life" about his life with his first Golden, Trixie, and I pulled into Starbucks on my way to my office. The first thing I saw when I got out of my car was a beautiful senior Golden and his mom having coffee. Of course I had to chat with them. Toby had been rescued 7 years ago. His beautiful muzzle was all white. He appeared to have some health problems, but was so sweet and friendly and gentle and obviously loved by his mom. It was a Kim Moment!

  36. Isn't it wonderful how adaptable and forgiving our dogs are? Maybe that's why I prefer their company to most of the people I've met. Have a more relaxing weekend.
