Whatever it Takes!

We've been hampered by severe weather all week long, and we're still not through.  Today was really hot and fairly humid as a storm system to the west begins to get itself together. The weathermen are telling us that the ingredients are in place for severe weather on Thursday.  Of course I'm not ready for the possibility of a power-outage, but by the time the storm arrives, we will be.
With the heat, the seniors, like Annie have to be coaxed to go outside, preferring stay inside where it's cool.
Todd on the other hand, being an independent spirit, and not one to follow the crowd, has to be bribed to come back inside!
CarrieAnne however is finding her own relief from the heat.  Long time readers of this blog know that Carrie has her own little private swimming hole in a place that only she knows about.  Since construction began on the house in back of us, she's not slipped away to take a dip to cool off.  But I guess with the heat this evening she just couldn't resist.  She was gone for quite awhile and just as it was getting dark and I started to worry about her, she reappeared, happy and very cool!
Whatever it takes!!
Stay safe and cool everyone!
~Josh~

  1. Just watched the weather report and it sounds as if we could be facing a horrible day tomorrow. You and your pups stay safe...

  2. We have been having severe thunderstorms since last week and rain for about a month now. It is hot, muggy, humid and yucky. I hate and mean hate this weather. My poor Roscoe is petrified of the thunder and lightning and hard rain coming down, so I have no choice but to call the ver in the morning to have her prescribe something to calm him down. He paces around the house and breathes heavily and wants to jump and sit on me. Poor thing. Does this happen to your seniors?
Stay safe and hope that you do not have a power outage.

  3. Sounds like each dog has it all worked out. We're having rain...and more rain...and more rain. Seems every time we decide to head out for a walk...down it comes.

Our little heater is very popular at the moment.

  9. We missed the storms on Sunday night, perhaps the same will happen this time, I hope. I listened to the weatherguy yesterday afternoon telling us that we should expect some wild weather today. Lovely. Now I plan to spend my morning battening our hatches and making sure that we are ready ... calling on whatever good voodoo I can to help ward off the worst of it.

  13. Hello Kim
It's been a while since I've popped in so it's good to see all is well at the moment. See Todd is still loving life and Carrie knows when she's on to a good thing.
We have plenty of rain here at the moment but a bit of warmth wouldn't go astray lol
Don't like the look of those clouds in your first photo Kim do hope the weather doesn't turn nasty for you.
    Take care

  14. Hi Kim,
Thank you so much for the info on the benadryl. I had heard about it before, but was kind of nervous to give it to him. But I will consider it now and also the t-shirt. Thank you, Ana

  15. Yesterday was beautiful here in western New York...in the low 70s. Today, however, it's back to steady rain. What a mess. All of your dogs must appreciate the choices they have for being comfortable!

  16. I'm hoping that they are wrong about the weather or it goes on out over the ocean.
CarrieAnne could really use a kiddie pool with some clean water. :D
    I hope weatherman was wrong.

  17. That is a scary looking sky for sure! The heat is so bad here, Sophie sits inside the house and sticks her little head out her doggy door to see what is going on outside. I just know that she and Todd would get along great if they ever met!

  24. I know this won't last much longer, we are getting close to July, after all. But our temps have been averaging 50s at night and 70s during the day. Some days are cloudy and some sunny, and really pretty nice, even with the extra rain. But we know, its coming, that HOT Stuff!

Hope yours isn't too bad and that your pups get through it OK.

    Cheers and hugs,

    Jo, Stella and Zkhat

  28. Hi there Kim, Hoping the storm bypasses you! We got terrible winds here last night but today is cooler and rain is forecast-I'm thinking the firefighters will be so thankful. Love hearing about all the pups and who likes what.
    Have a good weekend.

  30. We've had lots of rain and have never seen our yard so soggy. Luckily no severe (thunderstorm) stuff. My biggest problem is getting a chance to mow the lawn. Looks like it will be a few more days away for that and it is already well overdue.

Glad everyone is doing well at your house and I hope you don't loose power.

  34. Stay safe! Wouldn't it be fun to secretly see CarrieAnne at her swimming hole someday! What a cool tradition!

You mentioned her fearfulness... perhaps both she and Shyla are suffering from weird weather (ours is smoky with a hot wind). Let's hope it's that simple.
