The dogs are enjoying it, especially Charlie who is way past due for his summer haircut, which he'll get on Saturday.
Gus's pressure sore continues to heal and I'm so happy with how the wound is starting to look underneath the bandage. I heard from the rescue this week, and it's official, Gus will spend the remainder of his life with us at Golden Pines.
As you know, the original vet that saw him said that she estimated he'd live 6 months or so. The vet that first saw Gus about his pressure sore, saw no value in Gus at all. But his current vet, Dr. C has become our hero for her great care, expertise, kindness and positive attitude that has restored my hope that this chapter in Gus's life, no matter how long it will be, can be one of comfort and contentment.
I hope your weekend is one of "comfort and contentment" too.

Hi Kim, so glad to hear that Gus will be with you for the remainder of his life (no matter how long that will be) with you and Carl and the gang. Glad to know that his sore is better. Beautiful picture of your yard. Our weather here in Florida is yucky daily, with rain and high humidity. Have a fabulous weekend. And yes, Charlie needs a serious haircut. Ana
ReplyDeleteMorning Kim, love the butterfly on the Cone flower, so pretty. Very happy Gus will stay with you, plus his sore is healing. Nice the humid weather is staying away for you to enjoy summer more, don't do good in humidity....Enjoy the weekend, Hugs Francine.

awww. enjoy that cooldown as long as it lasts. we are, too.
ReplyDeleteThat vet is as disposable as he thought Gus was.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for Gus and you. He is so lucky to be at Golden Pines. One of our first German shepherds had DM and lived to be 13. Her last years were tough but she enjoyed her life despite her DM.
ReplyDeleteGreat news for Gus & you! Thank God for your loving care and nurturing of the seniors.
ReplyDeleteWe too are enjoying the great weather in Philadelphia - Neeli & Elle say hello to you and yours!

Kim,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found a compaction and caring vet who show's a positive attitude towards older Golden's. Ya for Gus having his last days with you and the crew.
The picture of the the yellow tail butterfly is so beautiful.
Have a wonderful weekend with Carl and the crew.
thank god for vets like doctor c.
ReplyDeletehow could you be a vet and make a statement like
"no value in gus" ??? good lord. that person should never have become a vet. as if gus is a commodity.
this is such good news. always love to hear "he/she will live out their life here at golden pines." magical wonderful words.
our cool spell is about to end too. back to possible 100's next week...
but until then... GLORY HALLELUJAH !!!! lolol.
xoxo♥
Oh Gus...what a lucky guy! and lucky you too!!! He has value and IS valued. What else is there to say..??
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you...
I am glad all is well and that Gus has a good vet . Our Miggs had pressure sores from her cast when she had her knee surgery 2 years ago and has the scares from it ! It is cool breezy and rainy here today but the hot humid temps will be with us again soon as August is out hottest month ! Wonderful photos ! Thanks for sharing . Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you have a good vet for Gus. It makes all the difference. We love ours. Gus has the same kind of harness as we received from Terry at Moondance Ranch, a blogger friend whose dog had passed away. She sent it for Soldier after he was injured and it worked so great. I only used the front part of it. I wish Gus a wonderful continuation of life at Golden Pines.
ReplyDeleteI think YOU are the hero, for caring so much about Gus and doing all you do for the other pooches. It warms my heart when people go out of their way to help an animal who has no one else.
ReplyDeleteWell done Dr.C !
ReplyDeleteSo, SO happy for Gus! You can see it in his eyes...he loves it there!
ReplyDeleteYeah Gus!
ReplyDeleteHowdy Mates. Oh Gus, you are a sweetheart. Good luck with continued improvement with the pressure sore. It's always wonderful to have a Vet who cares. Take care all. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
ReplyDeleteI hope Gus is with you a very long time.
ReplyDeleteGus is such a handsome boy! I'm glad he gets to spend the rest of his days with you!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. I know that Gus will find comfort and contentment with you.
