Traffic Court

~On our road~
My day off today has been planned for the last several weeks. I was supposed to go to traffic court for a speeding ticket that I got in the town where I live.  I'll admit, that I was on the fence about going.  This was because I didn't have a compelling reason as to why I was speeding that would warrant the ticket maybe being dismissed.  But having not gotten a speeding ticket in more than 10 years, a friend of mine who is a police officer gave me some great advice, and suggested that I go. I really appreciated the advice and felt strongly that she was right that I should go.  So, I decided that I would make an appearance in traffic-court with other highway vigilantes just like me.
Then yesterday when I verified everything online about going to court, I looked at the amount of the ticket. The option to pay the less than $200 ticket online was practically glaring at me.  So, on an impulse, because I knew that court cost ($60) would be added, I caved in and decided to just pay the ticket. Now I'll never know if I would have been given leniency and if the amount of the ticket would have been lowered.
But I got to meet a friend for an early lunch.
Take the scenic route back home and...
Spend time outside with the dogs. I got a rare photo of Sunny (below) where he's actually looking at me with the camera. Is it possible that he's getting over his fear of the camera?
And I just got to relax and do practically nothing -- All things you just can't do in traffic court.

  1. Sorry about the ticket..Some times it depends on the judge.. Sunny is so cute, I hope he is getting use to the camera.. Glad you still had a good day..

  2. i'd say that was a day much better spent!

  3. Spending time with the dogs and having lunch with a friend.........Priceless !
Glad you had a great day rather than being stuck in a stuffy court
    Loves and licky kisses

  4. Look at that beutiful tree!

  5. ohhh.... no doubt about it. you made the right choice.
i think it's called 'quality of life!'
sunny's face is absolutely adorable. how could you not fall in love.
this must be a sign he totally trusts you now.
who knows what on earth had been done to him? maybe he'd been hit with something metal or dark... like the camera. or the sound of it.
you can be sure... something happened to him.
his face and charlie's tummy! that is charlie... right? LOLOL
    such love. and delight.
and ps... as if this isn't LONG enough. i see that scottie boy still loves anything red apparently!!! LOLOL

  6. Such a day with such good company is worth far more than winning in court and not having to pay the ticket. Gorgeous day and good friends and dogs.

  7. It's all about the money, not about safety. The Scottiemobile got a ticket and He went. It was an education. They had the day's cases posted on the court room door. They planned on cranking out 12 an hour. Everyone came out of the room shaking their head. He took 50 minutes of court time. At the end (guilty of course-just like everyone else that day), he asked about the appeal procedure. He was told that there was this fee and that to pay in order to appeal. The kicker was that all those fees were non-refundable,even if the appeal was successful. The fees added up to over 150% of the cost of the ticket itself. It was a total joke and He's gonna take it out on them on Tuesday, election day.

  8. Hi Kim, Well I'm glad you got to choose whether to go or not; must say that tree out front of the court is beautiful. Spending time with a friend and with the dogs would have made my day-can't think of anything better. We had a good day-Hunter was scared out of his mind at the vet and my mammo went perfectly-at least it didn't hurt(one benefit of getting older). Hope you have a great Friday. Sending love, hugs and wags to you and the pack.

  9. Sounds like $200.00 well spent to enjoy a beautiful day with a friend and a relaxing day home with the fur kids. I wish our Fall was beautiful as yours. It seems that we go from green to brown with only a small window with red and orange foliage.

    Pees: tell Todd Hi!

    Aroo to you,

  10. Wonderful scenery. Glad you got to spend the day the way you wanted to, Kim.
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  11. what a beautiful dog Sunny is. I'd rather stay home and look at him than go to court.

  12. Sometimes, you just gotta do what feels right to you. And, you got a great day out of it. That photo of the country road is beautiful, and I love seeing handsome Sunny!

  13. Yeu made the wright decision. Time is a Treasure, and what a wonderful day you had!

    with love from Little Reufus

    PS Gorgeous fall leaves!!!

  14. You did what your heart told you and that should be enough. Glad you were able to just sit home and relax with your furry family. Those are the best moments. Sunny is adorable. Great pose he gave you.
If you get a chance, go to my blog and see my Halloween decorations this year.
    Thanks and Happy Halloween.

  15. Spending the day having lunch with your friend and playing with your dogs - there is no comparison!

  16. Sometimes you've just got to suck it up and pay. SHE figures that they've missed most of the times SHE's speeding, so SHE pays.

  17. I just love seeing all of your beautiful pictures! It is just gorgeous where you live! Sunny is smiling! Good to see. You had a much better day than going to traffic court. Happy Halloween to you and the pack! xo Jeanne, Chloe and LadyBug

  18. I'd say it was well worth paying the $200 fine to spend a day like that!

You take the best photos - the scenic route one is especially beautiful (no offense to the pups). :-)

  19. Spending a beautiful fall day with friends - both two and four legged- was well worth the price.

  20. SUNNY! I hope he gets over his fear of the camera because he is just so handsome! Looks like Fall is in full swing there.

  21. Fall has fell at Golden Pines...beautiful. Dowhatyougottado!

  22. Morning Kim, you did alright, lunch and out with the dogs, sounds perfect. Happy Halloween, Francine.

  23. Here the fines are €200 plus two or three points depending on how fast you're going. A day spent in the sunshine has to be better than a day spent waiting to be called to appear.

  24. Sometimes you just got to take the easy way out. I'm glad you had fun!

Sunny looks a little skeptical about the whole camera thing. :)

    Monty and Harlow

  25. Loving your autumn leaves!
DH says they usually reduce the charge if you show up - and he should know, ha ha.

  26. It sounds ass if you made a good decision!

  27. Sounds like you made the most of your day.

  28. I do think you made the best of your day kim. You take the most beautiful photos,, and those photos turn into beautiful momento to us. AND you got that stupid ticket take n care of. We were wondering how guys is feeling since he misses his appointment t the otherday.

  29. Oh my being speedy are we ? Sometimes it is just better to pay it and get it over with lol ! Lovely photos . Thanks for sharing , Have a good week !

  30. Glad you had an enjoyable day, you can't put a price on that!
