Traffic Court

~On our road~
My day off today has been planned for the last several weeks. I was supposed to go to traffic court for a speeding ticket that I got in the town where I live.  I'll admit, that I was on the fence about going.  This was because I didn't have a compelling reason as to why I was speeding that would warrant the ticket maybe being dismissed.  But having not gotten a speeding ticket in more than 10 years, a friend of mine who is a police officer gave me some great advice, and suggested that I go. I really appreciated the advice and felt strongly that she was right that I should go.  So, I decided that I would make an appearance in traffic-court with other highway vigilantes just like me.
Then yesterday when I verified everything online about going to court, I looked at the amount of the ticket. The option to pay the less than $200 ticket online was practically glaring at me.  So, on an impulse, because I knew that court cost ($60) would be added, I caved in and decided to just pay the ticket. Now I'll never know if I would have been given leniency and if the amount of the ticket would have been lowered.
But I got to meet a friend for an early lunch.
Take the scenic route back home and...
Spend time outside with the dogs. I got a rare photo of Sunny (below) where he's actually looking at me with the camera. Is it possible that he's getting over his fear of the camera?
And I just got to relax and do practically nothing -- All things you just can't do in traffic court.

who knows what on earth had been done to him? maybe he'd been hit with something metal or dark... like the camera. or the sound of it.

  6. Such a day with such good company is worth far more than winning in court and not having to pay the ticket. Gorgeous day and good friends and dogs.

  7. It's all about the money, not about safety. The Scottiemobile got a ticket and He went. It was an education. They had the day's cases posted on the court room door. They planned on cranking out 12 an hour. Everyone came out of the room shaking their head. He took 50 minutes of court time. At the end (guilty of course-just like everyone else that day), he asked about the appeal procedure. He was told that there was this fee and that to pay in order to appeal. The kicker was that all those fees were non-refundable,even if the appeal was successful. The fees added up to over 150% of the cost of the ticket itself. It was a total joke and He's gonna take it out on them on Tuesday, election day.

  8. Hi Kim, Well I'm glad you got to choose whether to go or not; must say that tree out front of the court is beautiful. Spending time with a friend and with the dogs would have made my day-can't think of anything better. We had a good day-Hunter was scared out of his mind at the vet and my mammo went perfectly-at least it didn't hurt(one benefit of getting older). Hope you have a great Friday. Sending love, hugs and wags to you and the pack.

  9. Sounds like $200.00 well spent to enjoy a beautiful day with a friend and a relaxing day home with the fur kids. I wish our Fall was beautiful as yours. It seems that we go from green to brown with only a small window with red and orange foliage.

    Pees: tell Todd Hi!

    Aroo to you,

  16. Sometimes you've just got to suck it up and pay. SHE figures that they've missed most of the times SHE's speeding, so SHE pays.

  18. I'd say it was well worth paying the $200 fine to spend a day like that!

You take the best photos - the scenic route one is especially beautiful (no offense to the pups). :-)

  23. Here the fines are €200 plus two or three points depending on how fast you're going. A day spent in the sunshine has to be better than a day spent waiting to be called to appear.

  24. Sometimes you just got to take the easy way out. I'm glad you had fun!

Sunny looks a little skeptical about the whole camera thing. :)
