Good-Bye to Our Most Handsome Beau

Tonight our candle is lit to help our boy Beau find his way to the Rainbow Bridge.
~Gus and our (electric) candle~

I met Beau on July 28th, 2014.
~The day we met!~
Our time with him passed much too quickly.  How I wish I could have had seven years with him instead of just the past seven months. But there is not a single ounce of regret in opening our hearts and home to him.
Beau lived life on his own terms and by a routine that he must have known before he came to us.  We would adapt to his routine of eating first before going out, and he would adapt to ours of enjoying plenty of treats when he came back in. And together with the specialists we went through the treatment for his severe ear infections and entropian in both eyes.
~Waiting for the Ophthalmologist~
Even though these issues were never fully resolved it was enough to relieve the pain and the discomfort. Beau seemed happy and content in his life with us.
Beau found a companion with Gus, and the two often slept close to one another during the day. On Monday when they were laying next to one another and I was giving them both treats, I found myself humbled by these two very different senior boys. Gus the more carefree and silly of the two, Beau the more serious and reserved. Both never let their physical limitations keep them from enjoying life.
It has been an honor to have had the chance to know Beau, care for him, worry about him and love him. I hope it was enough.
God speed to our most handsome Beau who will be missed and not forgotten. I look forward to the day when I'll see him and all the others at the Rainbow Bridge.

  8. I just read the title to your last post of being on an angel watch for Beau earlier this afternoon. He has constantly been on my mind.
What a wonderful stoic face he had. So sorry he lived with pain most of his life, but so very glad that you and Carl were there to ease his physical pain as well as give him so much special love.
I know this is going to be hard on Gus, but know everyone will rally around him. Special hugs for Gus.
How wonderfully kind and sensitive of you to allow Beau to continue to have his comfortable routine. That was a great gift to him.
As,i always do after a death of one of your sweet babies, I will go back and read your posts of their first few weeks of coming to Golden Pines.
Beau will not be forgotten. Each is important and worthy and special.
    Hugs,
    Gus' Mom

  34. my dearest heart.
we know these goodbye posts well by now.
and remember? once i had to give up golden pines because i didn't feel strong enough to endure them? what? ME? I? it almost amounted to blasphemy to do that. how limited and uncourageous is that?
YOU are the one who endures the losses over and over. but oh the JOY!
the joy you share with us of endless days laughing and loving and keeping these precious beings alive and well in their older years.
and little todd. like a wee scottish ray of mischief running through it all.
i am usually typing this kind of reply through streaming tears.
but your tribute was so calming ... so beautifully and simply written...
i find i'm at peace with it. as part of nature. as it should be for us all.
bless you darling girl. bless you real good.
    xoxo♥

  43. You loved him, cared for him, and gave him a warm and happy home. I'm so sorry that your time with him was short... but I feel that you were his angel. He could leave for the Bridge knowing that he was a very special boy. I hope that Gus will be okay without Beau - I had noticed before that they seemed to like to hang out together. My sympathy to you, Kim, who does not hesitate to love souls like Beau, even though you know that your heart will hurt when they are gone.

  67. Dearest Kim
It was enough,, it was really was.
Beau felt love like he never felt before. It surrounded his whole being.
Beau was another special one,, they really all are.. And if you could hear him talk right now,,, he would tell you so. He would thank you,, for thinking of him,,, when his chance came to live at Golden Pines.
He would thank you for thinking of him.. when he told you the time had come. He would thank you for "listening" and knowing him enough to understand what he was saying,
You will all be united again sweet Kim..but that time is not yet. Instead, you will find a sign that he is okay,,, and you will know it.
    love
