About midday I got a call from the rescue's medical coordinator letting me know she'd heard from the surgeons's office about Max. Despite their best efforts, Max didn't want to eat or drink. They were asking me to come and take him home to try and get him to eat something. Max may have Golden Retriever in his genetic makeup, but he clearly channels his poodle side when it comes to eating. He is as finicky as a cat when it comes to food and treats.
By the time I got Max home and settled, he fell asleep. I woke him up to feed him and he only ate about about a 1/3 of his meal. But he had water, and wanted to be taken out. So, I'm hoping Max just needs a good nights sleep in his own bed. Who doesn't benefit from that?
Aw ... Poor Max. Maybe he will be feeling more himself tomorrow. That ordeal so soon after the last ordeal could have him discombobulated. I hope he heals quickly and gets back into the business of being a happy dog again.
ReplyDeleteMax - get a good nights rest and hopefully your appetite will be better tomorrow

Who wants to sleep alone?
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sure he'll get his appetite back now he is with his loved ones. Get well Max ... please!!
ReplyDeleteAt home, own bed, familiar voices, and the others with their sense of sending love and more, Max will be all OK in the morning.
ReplyDeleteMax is sure to feel better now he's home and surrounded by his loved ones.
ReplyDeleteA simplistic comment but it may be that he's simply fed up . Sophie didn't have problem eating but there was no doubting that she was unusually quiet ie depressed for a few days after the second surgery. An unusual state for the effervescent family diva. Whether it was because she was in pain or a recognition on her part that that her spell in incarceration wasn't over is hard to say. You are so in our thoughts. Bon courage !

ReplyDeleteIt's always tough for them to be away like that. We hope Max perks up soon.

Do hope Max will be OK and certainly there's no place like home.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for being neglectful of your blog but I use the excuse of old age. I just don't get around as I once did.
Max is probably like me, all is better at home!
ReplyDeleteBless his heart, Often when mine turn their nose up at food for whatever reason they will eat a full meal as long as I serve I hand feed it to them with my fingers! It's a mess, but it works...
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to catch up to all I missed for weeks.
ReplyDeleteI hope Max is okay??
OHHH I hope Max is feeling much better now,, and enjoying his bed, and eating!
