Simba Arrives at Golden Pines

YES, you are reading that right.  We have added a second new addition.  Simba, a smart, bouncy, energetic one year old silly boy arrived on Friday.  A "friend of a friend" knew someone who needed to rehome her Golden Retriever.  Life had changed and become "complicated" and Simba's owner felt it was better if he found a new home.  Fast forward through a few messages via my friend and Simba's owner and I were finally speaking to one another.  After chatting with "nice lady" I offered to take him. I was given Simba with the promise to "nice lady" that I will make sure he has a good and permanent home.
As you can guess, he's constant motion and hard to get a good picture of. But he's a really good-boy and it's hard not to like him, or laugh at his antics.  So far, Simba has gotten along with all the dogs. But because he's so excitable and life is a party, we have really limited his one on one interactions with Todd.
Today a friend of mine is calling to talk to me about Simba.  She lost her Golden Retriever the same day that I lost Josh.  She and her husband are hoping for a new addition to their home but are looking for a pup that's a little older.
My friend is someone I've known for more than 10 years.  She and her husband are both very dog savvy and kind and devoted dog-owners. They are both retired and would have the time for Simba and be a good home for him. So, we'll see what happens with this endearing counter-surfing, cat chasing new kid that has arrived at Golden Pines.

Finally, thank-you all for your welcome to Rhett, who I think looks more like a "Chief"...  But I was able to get him into my vet on Friday morning, and he's now back on his seizure medications.  He is doing really well, and I'll admit that I am totally smitten by this boy who is showing what a kind, gentle and old soul he is.

  2. Reading between the lines - I'd say Simba has the 'energy' that Jill had as a young'ne. Good age for your friend even if she wants one older. Ha ha. He looks very peppy! I hope it works out.
Glad that Rhett has seen vet and he has his medicine again. He looks so gentle.

  3. Simba is very handsome and looks like a fun loving, somewhat naughty boy. I hope he's just right for your friend. It's good to hear that Rhett is back on his meds. Seizures are frightening for the dog and the peeps.

  5. I, too, hope that Simba will find his forever home with your friend. He's obviously a cute bundle of energy, but he may be a bit too much for your oldies, and better as an only dog in the family.
Good to hear that Rhett is doing well.

  6. Hope the new home works out. He does seem to be a bit young for the rest of the crew. Good news about Rhett, as well.

  7. Rhett, gorgeous boy, and Simba, he does look a little serious, maybe planning his next set of antics. When one leaves forever, to find another that will fit in with a family isn't always easy, I hope they find Simba is suitable.

  10. Rhett reminds me of the dog on a new TV ad. The parents have their new baby playing in the front room on the floor with a stuff lion while a golden (I think) stands in the doorway looking in sadly. The young father looks between the dog and the lion toy the baby is fascinated with, then father orders from Amazon and next you see him open the box and dog is now looking in with a lion's mane and walks to the baby who is now fascinated with the dog. Yeah, it's a tear jerker that gets me every time and I always think of your tribe! Hopefully, Simba will find your friends to be the forever home. I kind of have a feeling Rhetts not going anywhere even if he gets offers!

  20. Simba looks like he'd be a ton of fun for the right people! Puppy energy - and if he's only a year, he's still got a lot of that - is too much for me to live with, but sure is fun to encounter.

  22. How many times have I said this but it's the truth. You have a heart of gold! I love Rhett too. I'm so glad he's back on his meds. My heart skips a beat when we're even a few minutes late for Shyla's meds. And Simba! What a wonderful guy he seems to be. I hope that it works out with your long time friends!
