Where Will the Week Go?

The day after Christmas. There are a number of things I didn't get done as I'd hoped. At the top of my list was my Christmas cards. I debated about whether to just save them for next year.  But I really enjoy sending them, so I decided to go ahead and write them out - Better late than well, you know.

On the home front, there was a new worry. Our boy Sunny was not feeling well last week.
It began when he was reluctant to get to his feet.  He has been struggling to get up the 3 outside steps and has needed a boost to get onto the porch and inside. I gave him a pain medication to help with any discomfort. But instead of feeling better, Sunny only seemed worse the next morning and had a bit of a cough. I upped the pain medication and added another to help with inflammation. But by Thursday night he'd developed a huge (!!) hotspot on his hip made worse by the harness I'd put on him. Sunny still wouldn't get up without help, and the cough seemed worse.

Thursday was a long night as I was awake most of it listening to Sunny's breathing and feeling extremely worried and guilty that I'd not contacted the vet. Mobile vet came on Friday making me feel better by saying that I was on the right track as far as how I was caring for Sunny. He added a couple of other medications to help get rid of the congestion and heal the hotspot.  As this week starts, don't let the photo below fool you, our camera shy Sunny is much brighter. He is getting up by himself, the cough has almost disappeared and his appetite is returning.

I am hopeful it'll be a quiet week when I return to work on Wednesday. But Eva's paws say something else.  She was left outside a little too long with Todd, and is hard at work digging to Australia - I think she may have other plans about where the week is going.
Todd, who had mud on his nose, certainly does!
All we can do is be like Jake (below) and see where it take us!

  1. Hope Sunny keeps improving. SHE covered up our tunnel to VA with wire...drats!

  2. Todd, you need a Geography update, New Zealand is where to go for!!! The mud, wow, and Sunny, all hopes for a recovery that means you are a whole heap better. Kim,such a short break from work, I hope they all behave as they should by then.

  3. Hope “sunny” continues down the “getting better” road!
And you get some free reprieve days from worry and work
As I have said before, “how do you do it all!”

  4. We hope you have a very peaceful and quiet week.

    Monty, Harlow, and Ramble

  5. Max probably likes Happy the dog lying by the yuletide fireplace. :) I watched a little of that myself this season. I thought at first it might be Charlie watching. I've missed seeing Charlie.
    hope he's still doing fine!
I'm so relieved that Sunny is better. ♥

  6. Hello, I am glad Sunny is feeling better, prayers and hugs for him and you. Cute shot of Max watching the yule log. All the furbabies are cute. I hope you and your family had a happy Christmas! Enjoy your day and the week ahead!

  7. I'm glad to hear Sunny is feeling better. Eva sure was working hard to get that much mud stuck to her paws.

  8. Hope that Sunny keeps improving. Thinking of you all - nose licks and love from Moth xx

  9. Leave him alone and Todd can dig to Mars.

  10. Good to know that Sunny is on the mend. It's very worrying when our babies are unwell, and they can't tell us what's wrong.
Surprised that Todd and Eva want to dig out, when there are so many pups who'd love to get into Golden Pines !

  11. I’m happy to know that Sunny is improving; my prayers will continue for him. Todd and Eva are a pair, aren’t they? I remember sending our cards out once after Christmas; I think it’s a fine idea. To me, all cards are welcome no matter the date.

  12. Happy Christmas to the whole family!!
Good to see that Sunny is improving - and I'm excited to hear that Eva is digging to Australia!! I'm here waiting for a play date ;)
Lots of licks, your good friend Morrie!

  13. So glad that Sunny is feeling better. So scary!

  14. Glad Sunny is feeling better. Hope work was quiet, you have had a lot of dog things going on.

  15. Sorry one of your homies is down! Loved the mud on the paws and Todd's nose. Too cute. Hope the rest of the week goes well.
