Jameson Arrives at Golden Pines

The cold temperatures held on through the weekend. But a warming trend began on Monday bringing with it the slightest amount of snow.
It also brought an unplanned arrival. Jameson arrived at Golden Pines.

Jameson was taken to the vet in the town where I live to be euthanized because he snapped at his (former) owners baby who had crawled onto him. Young Vet was able to persuade the owner to release ownership of Jameson to his practice and allow them to find him a new home.  It didn't take long for Jameson to catch the attention of others in town, and soon he was popping up on local social media.  Even I was told about him, if that tells you anything.  Young Vets office found what they thought was a new home for Jameson. But they'd also contacted the rescue that I volunteer with who of course, agreed to take him if things didn't work out. On Monday, Jameson was returned to Young Vets office, and the rescue was called. The Coordinator for the rescue and I had already discussed Jameson, and I'd agreed to take him if needed. I was home from work on Monday morning, and so I was able to go and get him right away.

We do not know too much about Jameson. But we do know he is about 8 years old, has arthritis and he's lived as a single dog for his entire life. I also know that he's was initially very nervous because he does not understand what has happened to him. Losing his first home, spending time at Young Vets office, going to another home, with two dogs who didn't like him, back to Young Vets office, and here to our house, it's totally understandable. This is why we've been giving him lots of time to adjust to our household, and have taken intros to everyone, including Todd, very, very slowly.
So far, things are going pretty well. I do not know if Jameson will stay with us until he finds his forever home or not.  The Coordinator from the rescue and I are just letting Jameson settle in and regain his confidence. My instinct is telling me he would probably fare better in a single-dog-household.  Until all this is decided, thankfully the adaptability of Jameson being a Golden Retriever is showing and for now or forever, wherever he goes, Jameson is going to be just fine.

  2. Oh he is gorgeous, what a sweet boy. I have no doubt though, like you think, that there may be hiccups along the way, but being patient and doing things slowly slowly will help him feel at home. You didn’t say if he is a cuddly dog (probably not yet), but when the time permits please give him a {hug} from me ❤️

  7. The poor boy...so confusing. We know you'll do everything you can to help him settle.

Dui bit a fifth person the other day....again, sitting calmly until the man tried walking away. Once again a person who just said 'It's okay'.

  13. Poor Jameson. It's too bad his first family didn't prepare better for him with the addition of a miniature human family member. He will know he is safe with you for however long it takes to find a forever home for him.

  16. Jameson is so lucky that you were ready to catch him when things went awry. I am forever shocked by owners' callous behavior. However, I think that your slow approach is working with Jameson... and I'm so happy that he's with you right now.

  21. So sad for Jameson that life has not been good to him but paws crossed that he will find his forever home very soon. He looks happier already to have found a place filled with love to settle in for now. Nose licks and love from Moth xx

  22. I of course love babies. but when I see the all too common videos now of foolish parents who allow a little baby to grab their dog's ears or even worse their muzzle and pull on it... I just can't believe it! have you ever had a baby tug on your hair? we all have! and it's amazing how incredibly it can hurt! those are a dog's most sensitive areas. and it's not cute. it's cruel. often for the innocent baby and most always for the poor dog. ok. rant over. but seriously? the human ADULT parents are to blame in most of those unfortunate cases.
I'm just so glad Jameson wasn't killed because of it.
and I hope his life can be one of love and not more confusion. you're the best dearest bean. the very best. xo

  23. I am sure so much upheaval for Jameson, especially losing his first home> I am sure he will get the love and care he needs from you Kim, and that Gods plan has a forever home as an only dog in his future.

  24. Poor fellow. What upheaval. With a name like Jameson everything will work out just fine.

  26. Wonderful for him that he landed in a soft place with you. And hooray for Vet's who stand their ground! Our daughter's last adoption was a fabulous Doxie whose family brought her to the vet to be euthanized because they didn't want to pay for an operation she needed. The wonderful vet got them to sign her over, did the operation for free, and then introduced her to my daughter (who had just lost a 16 year old terrier) because he is a great match maker!
