(¸.•´ (¸.•` ¤Happy July 5th from all of us!
The photo above is (of course) Rhett.  I'd taken the picture for a little best 4th of July photo contest that the rescue had for its Facebook page. Rhett got the honor of being the cover page.  He's very photogenic, so how could he not?
It has been a busy past week. My counterpart at work is on vacation so I filled in for her this week, and I'm working every day next week too.

Finally, I have to tell you what happened to Alf....  I don't know about you, but I sometimes get some pretty good ideas in the middle of the night. But this time, maybe I didn't.  It began because I'd been trying to figure out what to do about Alf's thick coat that had gotten really matted around his face because he kept rubbing it on the rug.  But its been a little bit of a challenge to manage because his coat has 2 kinds of fur that is fine, curly and thick on his top half, with a more Golden like and thinner coat on his bottom.  I decided to just have the thick, poodle part of him clipped, which was the top half.  Alf can be a tiny-bit moody, and being a senior boy and not able to stand for a length of time, I thought it was the best thing to do.  The groomer tried to talk me out of it, saying it wouldn't look right. But I wasn't worried about that, and I told her to do it.  Below is the end result.
Ooohhhh noooooo.....  Alf is going back on the 15th to be fixed.
I'll admit though, I couldn't help but laugh at Alf - And I really needed a laugh.
But the moral of the story is, to trust your groomer and don't always trust any ideas that you get in the middle of the night.  I think Alf looks like a Lab in a Yeti coat.
Poor Alf....

  3. I hope it will grow. this reminds me of, when, years ago, Hugh and I were on holiday, it was our Wedding Anniversary, I went into a new hairdresser and asked for " A Light Trim" She trimmed it almost to my scalp, and Hugh said " You look like a hedgehog"!!! Alf still is a cool guy, the rest of his coat will be fine once it has a " Light trim:!!!

  5. At least the mats are out of his face and his head will match his soon to be shaved belly.

  7. Catching up here . We have had Miggs fur shaved right off she had pig like skin lol for her lumps and bumps to be removed on her back and neck a few months ago and all the fur has grown back well , we also get her shaved down smooth like a hound coat which she looks like her mum then in the summers cause she gets way to hot , if we let her double coarse coat grow it is thick and long and very heavy like her daddy the Bearded collie , Wheaten terrier I am sure all will grow back fine . Hope everything goes well the fixing to . Aren't those harnesses a god send I am so glad we bought one for Miggs when she had her second knee surgery last year , Cute photos with their stars on lol . Have a great weekend !

  8. That picture of Rhett would make anybody smile. At least Alf's hair will grow back and he sure doesn't have any mattes on his face.

  10. I get my best ideas during the night too. We've had several grooming disasters over the years but dogs are forgiving and usually have a great sense of humor. Hair grows back and all is good.

  11. When I go to see my groomer, Miss Jacquie, I just get an all over buzz cut. This keeps me looking neat and clean for about two months.

  12. What a handsome chap Rhett is - love his head gear !
Is Alf the original shaggy dog? Poor chap, but at least it will soon grow back. One advantage of a Lab. they don't need clipping.

  14. I'm sure Alf wants to be comfortable -- he has more sense than to worry about how he looks. :D

  18. When we had our large dogs We always gave them summer buzz cuts. They were more comfortable and their fur grew back just in time for cold weather. We got used to funny looks from other dog walkers!
