Update on Hamlet

Thank-you all for the good thoughts and wishes for Hamlet, it's needed and appreciated!

The surgeon, Dr. Walker (pictured here) called me last night and said that he had just gotten done with the surgery and that it went pretty well. He said Hamlet was very, very sleepy and stable. I woke up several times during the night thinking about him. I couldn't wait, so I called early this morning (before 5 AM) and talked to the Tech that said Hamlet had just eaten a little and had been taken out, but was of course slow and still a bit groggy. She told me that if all goes well today, he may be able to come home later this afternoon, but definitely by Saturday morning. All good signs--With the hurdle of the surgery now behind him, I'm hoping that the rest will be downhill!

  4. Boy, I know you're feeling a little less anxious now. He do just fine - might sleep a good bit over the next couple of days, which is a good thing.
I know how worrisome it is having any dog have to go under, but, when they get that old it's just nerve racking. My 14 yr old goes in for a teeth cleaning this week and I'm worried about him. I know he'll be fine, but, you never know.

I'm so glad Hamlet came through well. Now you just have to keep all the other dogs from "smelling" him too much! (My dogs always smell whoever has been to the vet)

  5. Good boy, Hamlet!

What a tough old man to pull through. Sounds like he is on the mend!

Have a wonderful (and restful) weekend!

  6. what a relief! older dogs take longer to bounce back....as you know, but he will be back to his old self in no time! yeh! that was quite a large tumor, even though benign, lipomas can be huge...i saw one that was 5kg!! taken off a dog in about the same area....keep him quiet for several days and take some pics!
does he have a drain? hope he comes home this afternoon!!
