Bugged at Golden Pines!

Here at Golden Pines, we hate bugs!

Black and scarlet bugs

Green Bugs Bad Bugs Mean looking bugs Any kind of a bug... A bug in the grass A bug on the side of a tree A bug on the glass Long bugs Young bugs Fat bugs
Skinny bugs Buggy bugs Yes, we hate bugs...

Okay, I do which is why I usually stay on the porch.

Hope you all are having a good week!
***The pictures of the bugs have been taken through the summer; whenever I'd see a bug, I'd take its picture, most have been cropped down. But the picture of the dogs was taken this morning--The dogs in the photo are, starting at the bottom, Josh, Sheba (head through the railing) the Chub Brothers with Bubba being closest, Toby and Rudi in the very back.

  1. Not too fond of little ole buggies myself. The day before yesterday, I got my mail from the mailbox, and put my hand right on a fat old spider. I don't know what the people going by in their cars thought of the old lady jumping and screaming by the side of the road, sigh.

I love that last picture. Who's the one with his head stuck through the railing? Too cute!

  2. Kim,
You’re funny. As my late Grandmother would have said "Oh shaw! Those little ol things, the good lord gave them all a reason to be here, save the mosquito, that's when the Lord said oops".

  3. I hate bugs too! I can't name them all, but, no need to, ugly is ugly.

The kids look so cute, all lined up so everyone gets a good view! Bubba looks tired.

  4. We hate them too - and this has been a banner year for bugs!!

Love the picture of the "gang" on the porch.

  6. I hate bugs also. I even hate to look at them so it took courage to look at your pics. Love your dogs though. I have one dog and am seriously thinking of getting another if my husband agrees.

  8. ALL the pics are great. Excellent bug pics. They are wallpaper worthy! Love the dog pic, too. Sheba is too cute. My Max does stuff like that. We have a little shelf in front of the living room window with a plant on top. We don't dare put anything else on the bottom two, as either Max or one of the cats will knock it off so they can lay or sit there to look out the window or nap.

  11. Phew. Am I ever glad you did not include a picture of a s-p-i-d-e-r. I called 911 once on one.
Give me a million mice, snakes, whatever than one you-know-what.
I can't even say its name.
And yes, i know, they make medication for stuff like that.

  12. YUCK to bugs!! Though I must admit ~ for some reason I don't mind the black and scarlet bugs (we call them Maple bugs) at all. They usually come out in the fall and are forever in the house. They don't bother me ~ and Banjo thinks they are yummy! :)

All the pups look so sweet!

    Have a terrific day Kim!

  14. I can't stand bugs! And it's such a curse because I love to garden, so close encounters with bugs are inevitable.

I will mention that this is the first summer I haven't "vocally" freaked out about the bugs...even when I found a spider dangling off of my forehead after watering the sunflowers! :)

  15. Kim,
This bug photo shoot was amazing.
We have some of those same bugs, but it was interesting to see the others we don't have yet.
Wish I new the names of some because I can never tell what is a good bug or a bad bug.
The troops look so cute all lined up in dogie order.
I'm sure some just have their favorite spot and they are not going to give it up.

  18. I kinda like the bugs...I mean, I want them in THEIR space and NOT mine, but I think they are incredibly interesting to watch. And you do take some really excellent pictures of them! One thing I really like about the bugs in the summertime is their voices added to the cacophony that IS the country summer night. When winter comes and we are hiding inside for warmth, we will no longer hear those bugs and the critters who LOVE to eat them!

Great post and love those dogs!

  19. Wow! Cool bug pics! But they're not as cool as all your babies lined up on the porch!

  20. Hi Kim
I can relate. I do not like any bugs, and if one gets on me,,,, well- its time to scream!
However,,, you did a nice job getting close enough to take their photos!
Those adorable Goldens. We never get tired of looking at them. They are all so sweet. And we can see how loving they are, each and everyone!

  25. Hey there Kim
I really loved your bug pictures. Most people hate these creatures but, whilst they are irritating they are also fascinating in their design...
When I saw the green cicada-type bug it made me think of our 'bushbabies' (small squirrel like creatures with big, round eyes). Those bugs are their favourite meal and they hold them in their little hands and eat them like it is the meal of their dreams!
    Nature sure is amazing!

I'm sorry that I've not been around to your blog lately. Please know that I'm still really fond of you!!!:)

  27. The older I become, the less I can deal with bugs... what's up with that? ick....

They are great photos! What lens were you using?

  28. They all look delicious ('cept the skeeter).

Love the picture of the kids. Looks like the Chub Brothers have settled in nicely. Did you get approval to continue taking Bubba to his swim therapy?

  29. We are being overrun by bugs this summer, some of those varieties too! I really love the picture of the goldens on the porch!

  30. We much prefer the picture of the dogs to looking at the bugs. Not that the bug photos aren't well-taken. We just think the dogs are handsomer. :)

  33. Hi new Friend,
You came to my blog and became a follower, thank you!! I love new friends, that's why we blog. I live in the woods too and have all those bugs and we have a garden and I have probably smashed every one at one time or another.
Looking forward to getting to know you and your great family of animals.
