We Did It!!

~Sheba~
Buses, cars, people--just plain stuck as snow, sleet and ice covered roadways and knocked down trees causing power outages across the region.  Many offices and businesses closed early.  My office was closed for the entire day.  The weather turned the evening commute into a seemingly endless nightmare as people were stuck in their cars for hours; many were abandoned on the side of the road.  Carl arrived home from work around 2 AM but had to shovel the end of our driveway because of plowed snow.  This morning we have about 10 inches of heavy wet snow on the ground.  Wow...That was one heck of a snow-dance we did!

The snow-storm as it started yesterday.
CarrieAnne and Sheba this morning.  I hope you enjoy your day too!

  2. Wow! You were effective, weren't you?! If folks find out you're to blame for all this, you're gonna be in trouble!

  3. Yikes! We remember a big whiteout when we lived in VA around 2001. We were stuck at home inside and it took Mom EIGHT hours to get home to us (a normal 45 min drive). Her boss had told her it rarely snowed in that area of VA and no 4-wheel drive needed. HA!

    Have fun in that snow!

  4. WOW! Well, you have been wanting snow! You sure did get it! The girls really look happy, romping through the snow!

Now you get to use those boots!!!

I will say, it's very pretty and I am glad that Carl made it home ok last night!

I may try the Martingale, maybe that would work, I won't go full chain.

  5. Maybe you shouldn't have done all those things at one time. They all worked at the same time. Have fun. We're supposed to hit 50 degrees again today and lots of mud.

  6. Hooray Hooray We are getting snow here in Pittsburgh too--nothing like you got but they are calling for three inches by morning and then another three on Saturday. I love the picture of CarrieAnn and Sheba running in the snow. Mabel loves it too. I let her outside of the fence the other day and she ran like a crazy girl. I hope you enjoy your surprise day off. Snuggle in with a good book and a nice hot cup of coffee.

  8. Well done Charlie. That hole digging is a dead cert ! You might have gone a little overboard. The two East Coast cost centers have had their weekend rugby fixtures cancelled. Serious stuff !

  10. Oh, so you guys are to blame! ;) LOLOL!!! I listened to my Ex grumble and whine through the 2.5 hour commute home in D.C. yesterday (normally 20 minutes) He is enjoying the late starts and early outs, though! Katie

  12. Bouncing over from Tiggeriffic's place.

Love your goldens. We used to have a golden named Monty - he was the most wonderful dog. When he was 7 he got cancer, and despite treatments and surgery he didn't make it. I sure miss him, even almost 5 years later. We have a border collie now.

We didn't get nearly the snow that you did - we're a couple of hours south though. Just a thick inch of ice for us.

  13. Lol, and we thought Tennessee was getting lots of the white stuff !
The dogs seem to be enjoying it, my Oliver doesn't like it between his toes, he runs inside high-stepping as if he'd stepped in a honey pot :)
Stay warm, and keep it up your way ;)
    Hugs,
    Jo

  17. Congratulations! Will you please send the dogs up my way now, so that they can do their snow dance here? We have had snow, but it's coming an inch or two at a time, and piling up. I'm in the mood for a good, kickin' all day snow dump. I just love that picture of CarrieAnne and Sheba. The look like they know what a good job they did!

We stil have quite a bit left from last week. Supposed to be in the 40s tomorrow, so much of it will melt.

    Have a great evening. :)

  22. WOW! You all really got slammed! That is one thick blizzard! Your poor hubby having to shovel a big horrid pile of snow at 2AM. But CarrieAnne and Sheba look completely blissed out as they play and romp in the snow - what smiling faces!

  28. I enjoyed a spring like day. I decided to stop waiting for snow and just enjoy what I have. A lot easier than what you are going through. Boy, that's a lot of snow. At least the dogs are having a great time.--Inger

  29. Wow! We were watching scenes just as you described on the news tonight. Somehow this storm missed us - thankfully. The photos are beautiful though and I just love CarrieAnne and Sheba. So adorable!!

  30. Wonderful pictures--beautiful snow. Isn’t it fun to have a “snow day”--like being a kid again :)

  31. Our dad is not amused by the results of your snow dance. It took him 4 hours to get home last night, it normally takes 2 hours, and he didn't arrive in a joyful mood , if ya know what we mean. If ya'll do that snow-dance thing again and get similar results, probably not a good idea to post about it. Bet the beltway muters had a GReat time.

  37. Your dogs look so HAPPY to be in the snow! Now if we could do the same and enjoy the stuff.....imagine!
Ours was a 'freezing rain event' from the same storm.

  38. Happy for you the 'Snow Dance' worked.
There's NO site like Golden's playing in the Snow. Always Happy no matter what circumstances arise...

For me though I'm getting really tired of shoveling, my body aches!!!
Were making up for lost time here in New England.

    Enjoy your NEW wonderland...

  39. They did a wonderful job and brought a little over a foot of heavy, wet snow to us. We lost power for a day (they originally told us three days)but we're lucky to have a wood stove. Then our furnace broke and now it's snowing again.

In the end, all fixed and happy. Glad you didn't have to travel and that Carl made it home safe and sound!

  40. Listen tell CarrieAnne and Sheba that my spirit is flying with them. Don`t you just love that feeling of so-much snow that you can hardly see 2 feet in front of you...when you are in the house...aaah!

  41. Your snow dances and rituals worked! I'm going back to that post and using some of them. We need snow and you have the technique pegged - that's obvious!

The dogs look so happy romping in the snow.

  42. Where I live in California right now the allergies are high, the sun is out and I am complaining about how I never even got a winter. Sounds like I need to visit Golden Pines! :-)

    Have a great weekend,

  46. What a huge amount of snow! I just came from Libby Withnall's blog and it is summertime in Australia. She had the most gorgeous pictures of poolside fun! Then, your blog came up next and all of a sudden I'm looking at all that snow! It's beautiful, but boy does it ever wreak havoc. Looks like the dogs had fun, tho!

Kim, thank you so much for your comments and prayers. We are home, but I continue praying as he is still recovering.

    Hugs, Liz
