Late to Bed Early to Rise

This week I'm really tired.  I'm blaming it on advancing age, poor blood, lack of vitamins, air pollution, the heat and the hole in the ozone.  I'm quite sure it has nothing to do with getting up at 4 AM and staying up too late. But whatever the reason, I am glad the week is coming to an end!

Rudi is doing just okay.  She has been quieter the last couple of days and continues to not have much of an appetite. We are able to get her to eat a little, but I'm wondering if she eats because she knows we want her too.  However she still has that spark and will follow me around.  She seems comfortable enough and content and that's all that matters.

The only one whose not worn out this week is Todd.  He's been so good at work!  I think that Reggie misses him because she seems happy to see him and plays with him when we get home.
But Todd being crated all day shows when we get home.
He's energetic and into everything!
We're finding that socks are making their way outside.....
But it's all okay...They're Carl's socks!
I hope your week is going well!
I'm really trying to get caught up on my blog visits and look forward to reading about what's going on in your world.
~Sammy~

  1. Kim, your photos are so attentive and spot-on! You really capture that moment.
Humidity is a 'killer' on the body.....young and old! I don't think we are made for this.....at least up north we aren't!

Have a great weekend and stop worrying about replying to comments....it's OK if you don't you know.

  3. Oooohhh...never thought of blaming my tiredness on the hole in the ozone. :) One to add to my list! Sorry Rudi isn't feeling so well. Poor thing. Beautiful photos. And that Todd! Oh my, he is something else. If he and my little Jackson got together they could have quite the time!!
    Have a great weekend (almost)!

  4. It has been a week, hasn't it? Have you ever, just once, remarked "I'm too old for all this!"?

Todd seems to make up for the quiet when he gets home, huh? How is the potty training going? When will he be old enough to leave him home all day with the older dogs? I'd say around 2 years old, LOL! This going by what my two have done.

Sweet Rudi, maybe the weather has got her down as well. Hey! Nice to see a picture of Sammy!

I hope you get some rest this weekend!

  6. Toddy is as cute as ever and I continue to think that it's just so sweet how Reggie seems to have adopted him as her own. It's good that Rudi is holding her own. Each day, a precious gift.

  7. Scotties are very curious.....nosey SHE says. I used to bury one of each pair of socks I found. Eight years later we are still finding them....scottie humour.

Glad the old girl is still happy.

  8. I'm tired too and my thinking is the same as yours. It has absolutely *nothing* to do with staying up late and getting up early :)

I'm so glad that Rudi is still content. That is wonderful news.

Our socks still end up in all sorts of crazy places due to our 3 yr old puppy :)

I hope that you can get some rest.

  9. What a special family - I'm sorry you're having a tiring week, and I hope that the weekend allows you some time to rest and recuperate. Please know your visits to my blog are lovely, but I sure don't want you to feel any pressure, especially when you're feeling stretched! If I had my say, I'd send you for a long, cool soak with a glass of wine and a good book, over feeling pressured to keep up with your friends' blogs. Now go get that glass of wine!

  14. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to get everything we want to done. And I hate giving up any of my sleep time! :)

Hope everyone there is doing good and perhaps everyone can catch some extra snoozes this weekend. Except Todd. Perhaps he can share some of his energy. :)

  15. 4 am on purpose? Jeep has been getting us up at 4 all week now. I'm thinking of giving him some booze to make him sleep! (just kidding all)

I'm glad Rudi still feels "okay". I hope it lasts a long time.

  17. i fell in love with every picture on this post. but i say that to myself every post you do!!!
especially baby todd rummaging for the perfect smelling sock.
we had a little dog once that would come and sit in front of my husband and wait for him to give her his socks. she would then gather them up and take them to her basket. we would go to bed later and there she was, sound asleep cuddled up with his socks!
rudi will get better with all this love coming her way...
in this horrible heat i don't have much of an appetite either!
    105 here today.
hugs to you and carl and your gang,

  28. Glad to hear that Rudi still has some spark and enjoys being with you. It is all relative isn't it? We take what good we can get, don't we?
Love that Reggie looks forward to Todd coming home. He loves his surrogate mother from what it looks like!

  29. Good to see Reggie settling in so happily. She and Todd really help each other. Paws still crossed for Rudi; glad she's having some good days. Loved the photos of Todd working 9 to 5! Mama's view on vaccines is: get the vaccines the law requires; get young ones the vaccines that protect against life-threatening diseases; and once the doggies are 2 years old, get titre tests annually to see whether further vaccines are needed. This year, Abby did not need any vaccines, but Jed did because his titres were below the safe level. Not familiar with canine influenza vaccine at all.

Looks like Todd is also winning Charlie over :)

  30. Hi Kim,

You really made me laugh about the sock thing. Cooper was also a sock aficionado, and still has great interest to this day. :)

For the first several weeks Cooper was here, I was up about every two hours. Hope Todd has been a bit easier on you.

Rudi looks lovely in that picture and has a healthy sheen to her coat. You're doing well by her and it shows.

Reggie looks like she just hit the jackpot!

    Have a good one!

  34. I'm glad it seems like Rudi is comfortable and content. You are giving her the best hospice care and being home and amongst her pack is the best for her. (and for you too, I imagine). Love how Reggie has taken to Todd! What a sweet old gal. The pups here are little devils right now. I'm very happy when it comes time to crate them for the night! They get to run in a fenced yard all day plus take a long evening walk, and still have energy to burn.

Hope you feel bouncier soon, and fairy kisses for dear Rudi.
