Trying to Escape!

A National Weather forecaster called the heat wave gripping the country 'unrelenting.'  It's supposed to get worse by the end of the week.  I try to not complain about it because after spending 10 years in Alaska, I remember the days when I thought my summers were way too short and way too cool.
But there's just no way to escape the searing temperatures.
However Todd is trying to escape and doing a pretty good job!
I hope you're finding ways to escape the heat!
~Toby~

  1. Hi Kim. I notice the heat mostly in the evening walking Gracie... it's like an oven! We've cut our walks in half until the heat wave breaks. That Todd just couldn't get any cuter!!! And Toby's not bad himself! I love to see them rolling around in the grass (as long as it's not in something icky). Stay cool!!

  4. WE have been pretty lucky lately cause the weather is only in the 90's but we watch and worry about all of our blogville friends in the hot spots.

So in honor of you guys, I think I'll have My Vickie take me to the river for a dip tomorrow.

I'll be thinking of you guys.

    Love

  5. I had Aussies that could climb a 6' chain link fence.... just sayin'

Terribly hot here, although, this evening, I went out with the dogs, to take some pictures and there was a breeze. Sitting under my big tree, it wasn't uncomfortable. I believe it is a little less humid.

Worrying about all the fires that could be in the wind.

  6. I hope you're staying cool Kim! My dogs don't even want to go outside. When they have to go potty, they run out, go and come right back in! They normally stay out for hours!

  7. We are having the opposite problem out here on Vancouver Island - summer doesn't seem to know it's supposed to be here! We've had far too many cool, cloudy or rainy days, with only the occasional day of sunshine to keep us going. What's going on?!!

  8. Oh my gosh,, your just sweltering in the heat!
And we are lucky to get 70!

That little baby Todd is trying his hardest to escape and being mighty cute at it too.
Beautiful Toby,,, is looking at the world through another view!
I hope you get some relief from the hot,,, SOON

  9. Way to go, Todd! You'll be out of that prison before you know it and they'll never be able to keep you in there again.

Glad Reggie got some justice, although I think animal neglect perps deserve at least 12 months and a lifetime ban on coming within 50 yards of an animal; animal abusers should get 30-to-life. Or the death penalty.

How is Rudi doing? We're staying inside as much as possible. Jed has staked his claim on the AC vent in the kitchen.

  12. Escape it? I can't find it!!

It's decidedly cool and wet in the UK, a great British summer.

Todd is such a cute little teddy bear! Toby's got the right idea and knows how to 'just chill, man'!

  18. We have the unbearable heat as well in North Dakota but I'm not complaining, trying to think of January and remembering I'll miss these days too soon. Todd is adorable! Have a great day.

  19. Oh Lord Kim they are calling for 91 here today and 94 tomorrow but with the humidity they say it will feel more like 100+. I am just not used to this anymore and today I have to drive out into the country and go clean a house for 4 hours, so I am already moping about this morning whining about my fate today!
Try to stay cool and hose down those Goldens :)
    Love you guys....

  20. Oh my gosh! Todd looks like a stuffed animal. He looks like he has the softest fur. I think I'd like to give Toby a good tummy rub. Let's hope this heat breaks soon.

  21. hot hot hot!! I am trying not to complain either.. until I have to get in to the car that the AC decided that it wanted to die. : )

Have a great day with the doggies.

  22. Todd gets cuter with each picture, but he could take some lessons from Toby on how to relax.

This weather is miserable. I know it's nothing compared to what you all are getting, but, we're in for five days in the 90's. That hasn't happened here since 1993. I don't like it, and want it to STOP!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Todd, you are too darned cute!

We're trying to stay inside as much as possible! It's brutal out there!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Starting my day with a photo of a "Todd tummy" was just perfect. He is so handsome - and clearly a bit of a scamp too!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay, I've just decided -- Todd needs his own blog -- he's just that cute!

I am not complaining about the heat. I remember all too well the crappy, never-ending winter we had.

    This too, shall pass. :)

  26. Oh, that Todd is just too cute!!! And look at that big smile on his face - he should be named "Houdini"!! It's hot here, too, and we're spending most of the day inside in the air conditioning. The "boys" go out early in the morning for a quick sniff and then they're back inside in front of the fans. Hamish likes to lay directly over the vents - he gets a good cool tummy that way :o) Smart boy!! I hate to wish my life away, but I wish it was fall!! Take care and keep cool -

  27. We have found that staying inside is the only way to beat the heat. I find it confining though and long for cooler days. We also have decided to head to the N.M. mountains in a few weeks and cool off there.

  28. OMG, Todd looks almost fully grown. He is gorgeous and always had the wonderful color like Piper. I bet he has a great time with all of your Goldens, who are beautiful, BTW.

    Lots of love from Arlo,

  29. I hope that it cools down soon! I think that living at 8200' like I do might be a little like living in Alaska. 80 deg is "sweltering", and we feel like our summers are way too short. We're already feeling summer slipping away since we usually get our first snow in Sept.

In any case, Todd is SO cute! Stay cool.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, it's pretty hot up here too! I work in air conditioning and oddly enough, often get cold because they set the temperature too low, however when I get home I have issues cooling off because my apartment is just too hot. There's just no in between, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Todd's face is precious. Like he's saying 'escape? who me? no I'm just climbin on this here fence thingy.'

    ReplyDelete
  32. Send some of it over here Kim....I don't know where our Summer has gone! :0)

  33. Hi Kim.
I didn't know you had a 'Toby'...? Have I missed something?
Now that photo of Todd: I think it is the 'Photo of the year' in the dog-blogging world! What a delightful little creature he is.

Oh Todd, you can brighten any day!

  35. The next few days will be spent inside or in water. Ugh! This is not good.....

  36. Oh my goodness! That picture of Todd is priceless--the little stinker. But he looks so cute being one! Awful hot here too. The puppies are such puppies that they still have all this energy, but it's too hot for them to do much about it. So they lay around and do mouth fighting and quarreling allot. (It's a collie thing, and very noisy). I put the big fan up when I'm home for them in the breezeway and three collies crowd in front of it!

  37. Having a stinker like Todd will take your mind off some of the heat. Hope it cools a bit for your weekend, I won't bother to tell you how cool it is here and that I am in a fleece jacket whilst reading your post.

  38. That Todd knows what it all about it!! So cute! He is smart as a whip cuz he is a Rocky Creek Scottie, LOL Keep cool you all!!

  40. So Todd is a climber. We have one of those. Bailey could climb out of her 4" pen and beat us up the stairs when she was his age. Now she climbs ladders and anything else available. Good luck and keep cool.

  41. How cute - Todd knows what he wants and we bet he will figure out how to get it.

Mom loves that porch on your home in the header:)

  42. Oh dear, we've got extreme heat as well - it's punishing. All the cats chill indoor during the day because it is just too hot outside. Tood's cuteness is surreal! and the goldies are truly fabulous. Just such gorgeous dogs. I hope Reggie continues to do well - she's a beauty. There's simply no excuse for animal neglect and it's infuriating how someone like that should ever be allowed to own an animals again.
Bless you!! - and thanks so much for your sweet comments on GLP

  43. Oh Todd. You are unbelievably cute. And here, we thought rottie puppies were the cutest ever!!!

We're loving the tile floor in the kitchen when the a/c is cranked up!!

    Rottie Kisses!

  44. That picture with the tree in the field is just awesome. I love the contrasting colors.

Todd is seriously the cutest pup ever. He always seems to have a smile on his face for the pictures you take.

  45. Woof! Woof! Todd looks so so cute ... its like a stuff toy with his ears up. He got a Golden Look n Smile. You must be laughing capturing that moment. Not sure WHY? it is so HOT but a Golden Roll on the grass is Golden Delight. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  46. Well, not much we can do about the weather, but staying inside is the safest option we have. By the time fall comes, we will so welcome the relief! Tootie's hair is cut short, and she lies on the cool tile a lot.

  47. We had a couple hot days here this week, but today it's only around 80 degrees. It's like a cold front!

I do hope you are managing to stay cool. Can't imagine what the humidity is like. Ugh!

Todd is such a cutie. He looks very proud of himself! Good example of terrier ingenuity! Also a good example of why puppies shouldn't be left alone in x-pens! Lol! :)

Off to play with the dogs in the kiddie pool....

  48. It's warm here but not unbearable....yet.
    Todd is so cute!

  49. Our Goldens are not at all interested in being outside for any length of time. Toby has the right idea. Looks like sweetie-pie Todd is going to be a handful...and almost too cute to discipline.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's a great photo of Todd. There is something about him that always makes me smile... I think it is because his ears point up so he looks so bright and alert. I love and have lived with Golden Retrievers for 17 years now, but the contrast of Todd's ears to GR ears makes him stand out in your pack. He's just so cute!

  51. Yes, we're still looking for summer, here in Oregon. Made it to 72 today! It's too bad we can't just average the weather somehow!

  57. We have found a unique way to escape the heat this summer - live in Seattle. This is a true statistic: since June 1st, the total amount of time the temperature in Seattle has reached 80 degrees (or higher) = 79 minutes. If you happened to be in a movie theater during that time, you missed summer!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. We don't have that kind of heat here..hope you can find some relief! :D

  61. So happy Reggie got some justice. And it is nice to see that Reggie and Todd are BFF. I think Todd is practicing for a high wire act ~ you better be careful or he might run off with the circus
Cincinnati got to 99 degrees with a heat index of 111 this afternoon.
